NFL coming to Los Angeles ? (1 Viewer)

Seems like Raiders or Chargers are the most likely to relocate based on current stadium deals.
I'm willing to bet it'll be the Chargers. AIG doesn't seem like the type of company that will want Raider trash filling their brand new stadium.
:lmao:
Why the confusion? I thought it was funny what you said about Raider trash... I'm sure if any Raider fans see this they might not think it was that funny, but I did.

I'd trust any Raider "trash" over any shotcalling execs at AIG.

what does AIG have to do with this?it's AEG. completely different.

Dunno. I was just going by what someone else said. I don't read news articles.

I hope it's the Chargers or the Bills. The last thing we need in Los Angeles is another stage for the unwashed masses to go crazy. They already ruined the Dodgers.

As a Charger fan living in L.A. I'm torn. It'd be great to have them here, and we'd get all the roadies on regular t.v. But we'd lose the roadies on regular T.V. like we get most Sundays now in absence of an L.A. team, and more importantly it'd suck for San Diego to lose the team. Then again if they try to foist the Jags or the Bills on us - sorry San Diego but I'll be rooting for the Chargers to move up here. I'd be o.k. with the Vikings I guess, we might still get some Charger games on regular t.v. and the Vikings have the same colors as the Lakers.

This will only happen if the NFL thinks it can use moving a SECOND team to LA as leverage when other teams start getting uppity about new deals, stadiums, etc. That's what they've been using LA for over the last several years, can't believe they'd give up that bargaining chip.

Honestly, I don't mind not having a team in LA. Traffic's gonna be a ##### in downtown...
But what about the awesome rail system..... oh wait.... nevermind.Wouldn't have minded seeing a Pro Team in LA when I lived there but yes, traffic will be ugly. Any worse than Laker games though? I don't know.

What do you think would happen if the Vikings did move to LA? Do you think that they would move to the NFC/AFC West? If that were the case then St. Louis or Kansas City would move to the NFC North right?

I figure there'd be some reshuffling. It'd be tough to move KC out of the AFC west considering all the AFC west rivalries. Same could be said of the Vikings divisional rivalries too, but it'd make more sense for them and the Rams to switch places given the time zones.

Another consideration I heard discussed last night was that the AEG group wants 30% ownership of whatever team moves to L.A. The Spanos family would probably be o.k. with that to a greater extent than the other owners of teams being bandied about.

why would they be?Could be the last season in SD as Im seeing on the homer boards that they would play in the rose bow/colliseum until the new place is built. UGH

The Chargers will move to L.A. and the Bills or Jaguars will move to San Diego.
Doubt it, if the chargers leave I dont see San Diego ever getting another team.Heck the NFL wants 2 teams in LA.
Sam Farmer of the L.A. Times was on the radio yesterday afternoon and said the plan is for two teams to come. It's set up very well right now for the Chargers to come to L.A. in the Spring and begin play at either the Coliseum or the Rose Bowl in 2012 and then for the Rams to come back in 2014.

Do you actually think the Spanos Family would be cool with handing over 30% ownership of the club ?Not sure where you get your info, but I highly doubt this to be the case.

As a remote Charger fan Im torn. It would suck to not be in SD. But if they kept the nickname and colors and helmets I would be ok with it.
I lived in SD before.it would be terrible to lose the team. But the city isnt doing itself any favors, dont wanna lose the team? Build them a stadium, the Padres got 1.
:goodposting: They really should put a stadium on the water around downtown. Make it accessible via amtrack and trolley.Another thought - I think Buffalo should tank, pick andrew luck and start their franchise and franchise qb fresh in LA.

Even without a new stadium, San Diego will start looking more and more attractive if Buffalo, Jacksonville and/or St. Louis end up playing to half-empty stadiums in 2011 and 2012.

That's what people on the radio have been saying. Last night I heard it from Florio and Mark Kriegel in separate interviews. And I recall in the last couple of years that the Spanos family were talking about selling a minority share of the team as a way to raise cash.

Sorry Gunz. Ideally L.A. wouldn't have gone forward with this stadium, and we wouldn't be in this situation. Truly I'd be fine if the Chargers stay in SD, but it doesn't sound like the city will be able to get it together in time to keep them there.

I was assured in another thread, with great certainty, that NFL relocation to LA simply would not happen. This upsets my faith in my fellow forum members.

If two teams do in fact move to southern California and remove that market from the equation, where will the remaining owners get their leverage to obtain new sweetheart deals from their own home cities? Will they threaten a move to Jacksonville, Minneapolis or San Diego?

Interesting take. I do think one team is the goal right now, one step at a time. This city hasn't has a sniff of a football team in decades. I am excited about the potential of a downtown field in Los Angeles.

As one of those disappointing fellow forum members I can say that my opinion was based on the assumption that no private entity would step forward to assume the burden of the funding for a new stadium. AEG has really done a great job of making their proposal look bullet proof against requiring tax payer funding.

Unless you were one of the fellows who spoke ill of me in that certain thread because of my radical thought processes, I still like you. :hifive:

Zygi Wilf says he's close to an agreement with the state of Minnesota and Ramsey County for construction of the Vikings' new stadium. Cost breakdown by my math: Zygi $400 million, Minnesota taxpayers $650 million.

The LA Jaguars has a nice ring to it.
This, I think the Jags are the ones who are moving.
The Jags are locked into a lease for quite a while and it would be TREMENDOUSLY cost prohibitive in financial penalties to get out of it. So I'm told by folks who know.
The buyout is expected to be in the range of $60 to $100 million, which translates to about $3-5 million per year through the life of the lease (19 more years). Also, the Jaguars can break the lease without penalty if they can show that they've lost money for 3 consecutive years. That doesn't seem likely to happen but you never know.

Well, I probably deserved it. Carry on.
