***NFL Draft- OFFICIAL THREAD - Kansas City - April 27-29*** (1 Viewer)

No such attendance from me but hoist one for me when you see me commenting in the SP about draft capital and dynasty rookie stuff (that I'm still no good at).

Anybody coming in town for this?
I wish. I am unreasonably excited for this draft. The last 2 years I’ve only had picks 3rd or later in both leagues.

I own 6 of the 1st 12 including the top 4 in one league. I can’t wait!
:excited:
You plan to hold year 3 of the Hot Sauce draft contest? My Dolphins don't have any 1st round selections, but the thought of some apple-wood smoked Habanero pepper sauce on a burger has me salivating!

Guess it's just me.....

:kicksrock:
KC is a great place to raise a family. But not the most exciting destination for tourists. Probably more affordable for tourists than most NFL cities. I have family in Overland Park, but haven't been there since 2001. I remember a great barbecue place. It would've been great to meet the Chief and his entrepreneurial son.

Two weeks until the draft. Buzz is picking up around here. I'll be heading down for the first round with my two boys around 1:30 or 2:00 so we can check everything out. They have a bunch of stuff to do, plus food and beer and such.

Hopefully the weather holds for that week. My guess is upper 60's or low 70's. But still too far out for the 10 day forecast.

Guess it's just me.....

I landed in Vegas when the draft there was wrapping up. I would have went out earlier but actual seats Fri and especially Thurs night were crazy expensive.
I've been going to my buddy's draft night party for about 20 years in a row now so haven't looked too closely at going, even when it was here in Philly.

The draft here in KC has a pretty sweet set up.

The main stage is in front of our Union Station - the same place where Kansas City has held their Championship Parades since 2015 when the Royals won. There is a huge hill right in front of it and across the street that leads up to the Liberty Memorial, which also has the national WW1 Museum.

Anyway, that hill and the location of the stage in front of Union Station creates a natural amphitheatre that can literally seat/stand 100,000 people. Maybe more. So they will have the expensive seats near the stage (like the ones you see on TV), but beyond that there is a huge hill for everyone else. We get in there for free. I'm guessing the NFL will set up monitors and speakers halfway up that hill like they do for the parades. That's where we will be.

At the top of that hill beyond the Memorial to the south is a HUGE open area. This is part of the Liberty Memorial but it's a massive lawn area where KC hosts festivals and such. This is where the NFL Experience will be. Plenty of area for the concerts, games, NFL activities, concessions, etc. You can put 100,000 people up there easily.

This location is literally a PERFECT spot to hold this event. And it's walking distance (1-2 miles) to downtown where the bars and restaurants are. Should be fun.

As much as I love the draft and watch intensely the first two days, being there doesn't look like it would be that much fun.

Always have a few friends over for round one. BBQ and beers/tequila. Good time. But day two is actually my favorite to just chill by myself and watch. Faster pace and more trade action generally.

Enjoy. Sounds like a great set-up and great memories to have with your boys

This is the one thing I'm worried about. My oldest boy and I are really into the draft and watch the coverage intently.

What I don't know is what are they going to show on the monitors? Are they going to show the NFL Network feed, and will that sync up to what's going on at the stage.

So will they have like what they show on TV which is who's up, who's on deck, what players are available....the trade information....etc. That's the part I will miss if they don't show that.

Plus I'm sure there will be 50 drunk knucklenuts near us shouting out all the picks they see on twitter before the announcements. That would annoy me a bit since I always wait for the announcement on TV and hate the spoilers.

BUT, to me that's the cost of doing business for this thing. The kids will love it and this will be the only time in my life I'll get to experience it. So I can take one for the team so to speak just to scratch this off the bucket list. Plus, it should be electric since the Chiefs just won the Super Bowl. That part should be cool, plus the booings when the Raiders and Broncos are on the clock.

Unfortunately my project in SW Iowa died on the vine so I won't be headed out to KC until the late summer, @ChiefD ... draft sounds fun.

Like a dummy I scheduled myself for a work trip W-F of next week, so I'll be enjoying the 1st round festivities from beautiful (but probably chilly) Grand Forks, ND.

I usually go to 1st round with a buddy and we ALWAYS pull off a trade in one of our leagues, even if it's just something minor. But last year I was at a reunion in Santa Barbara and this year I messed it up again!

Enjoy the draft!

I have a zoom party with my son in STL and maybe a few other relatives/league mates. Will drink a few beers and catch up with the boys. I'm quite a bit more die-hard in terms of dynasty but with the Pats in the middle, we should retain some interest up until then. When they trade back and we all groan and wonder how much longer we all want to stay on a zoom call.

Early forecast looks like upper 50's/low 60's for temps. Possible rain the middle of next week but it's Kansas City so it's possible we can see torrential rain, a tornado, snow, hail, or bright sunshine and 70 degrees that day.

Can’t believe it’s a week away.

Seems like it would be fun on the 1st day, if you could score a spot by the stage.

Is it set up like a festival outside the draft with food stands, etc?

Scroll up. I laid out how it's going to be.

But yeah, sounds like a big festival basically. I doubt we will be by the stage but it looks there will be huge screens set up on the hill. We "should" be able to see and hear what's going on.

Two more days. Thursday's forecast looks to be 65 and dry at the moment. Friday a slight chance of rain (45%) around the time the draft starts.

One more day.

It looks like they have pulled rain out of the forecast for the duration of the draft. Of course, this is Kansas City so it could quote possibly snow tomorrow or be 97 degrees.

Please no Jaxon Smith-Njigba to Tennessee or New England
Please no Bijan Robinson to New England.

Thanks in advance
If the Eagles don't take him at 10 I believe Bijan will go in this range. Either by a team in this range or a trade up. The Cowboys might move up for him.

18) Detroit Lions
19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
20) Seattle Seahawks
21) Los Angeles Chargers
22) Baltimore Ravens
23) Minnesota Vikings

So, it’s just me representing Football Guys this year at the draft?

I didn’t even get a free t-shirt.
