NFL Schedule 2012 (1 Viewer)

I remember the days when Don Shula was on the scheduling committee. The Dolphins rarely came to Foxboro in the winter, it was almost always an early season matchup in New England.

No other team has more primetime games than the Detroit Lions!

Week 2 Lions @ 49ers NBC

Week 7 Lions @ Bears MNF

Week 12 Texans @ Lions Thanksgiving CBS

Week 14 Lions @ Packers NBC

Week 16 Falcons @ Lions ESPN
 8 teams have 5 prime time games (Broncos, Steelers, Chargers, Bears, Packers, Giants, Eagles, 49ers). And Thanksgiving isn't prime time.
If you include Thanksgiving, how is his statement false?
Prime time games are in the evening by definition. Detroit always plays the early Thursday afternoon game on Thanksgiving. Even the author of the article he linked makes the distinction:
The Lions will be featured in four prime time games and five nationally-televised games (including Thanksgiving), the most allowed to any one team.
Semantics I guess  Carry on.

Looks like the Giants have the toughest schedule. Non-Conference schedule: Tampa, @Carolina, Cleveland, @SF, Pittsburgh, @Cincinnati, Green Bay, New Orleans,@Atlanta, @Baltimore.

OK, I should've said nationally televised games but if you look at what I said, I said No other team has MORE. What team has 6 or more?

Anyone else doing what I'm doing and matching up my player's bye weeks with the team I'm playing that week and targeting them for a trade?Example - lets say V Jax has a week 7 bye, and I'm playing team #4 that week. Now I'm a bit inclined to trade V Jax to team 4 knowing that he wouldn't be able to start him against me that week. I did that last year a few times, and while I may have sold the player at a bit of a discount, their inability to use that player against me really helped.
Lmao

I guess NFL.com feels pretty certain the Colts will be drafting Luck: http://www.nfl.com/schedules/2012/REG/COLTS

2012 NFL Schedule - Colts Season Preview

Luck will take lumps

Andrew Luck makes his NFL debut in Chicago. Nothing like jumping right in. Once a month, Luck squares off against an elite QB. He'll hook up with Aaron Rodgers in October, Tom Brady in November and Matthew Stafford in December. We'll be able to chart his growth easily. FULL ANALYSIS »

This seems extremely silly to me. A single bye week isn't going to affect a team THAT much, in order to hurt your team for the rest of the year (and in particular, in playoffs, when it REALLY counts). His 3rd wr starting instead of vjax may drop him a bit if vjax happens to have a big game. I'd bet that the chances of you winning the week by less points then vjax MAY have had that week over his next best wr seems pretty slim. I'd roll the dice with your line up and keep vjax for the playoffs in that situation.
Well I'd be trading him for another player...maybe who's bye week isn't an issue for me at all (maybe it's a week when I'm playing a very weak team).
You're over thinking it I think. Remember, people love the guys on their team and no ones gonna get rid of a guy thats producing really well say like a Welker, for Vjax unless he's getting MUCH better value then even. And even so, you're starting a guy like Welker instead of a different guy. Small chance it wins you the week, much better chance of it backfiring and hurting you come playoffs when it really counts. The smart/tricky play rarely works in fantasy football. Play your studs, keep your studs, and don't look into schedule, weather, matchups, sneaky trades too much.

REDSKINS PLAYING THANKSGIVING VS DALLAS
If there's one thing we can always count on, it's plenty of NFC East teams (was hoping that Dallas would be paired up with a non-NFC East team on Thanksgiving).
Plenty of NFC East teams where?
I was just commenting on the Dallas Thanksgiving game going to Washington. If you're a fan of an NFC East team, there is really no need for Sunday Ticket if you live outside of the local area. Every game will end up in primetime or in the national game on CBS/Fox.
This is very true. Being a Giants fan in Los Angeles, we usually get at least 13 of 16 games broadcast here on the local channel. Many years we've had the Giants for 15 or even all 16 games televised here.

Strange scheduling via Adam Schefter: The Falcons alternate Home and Away all season long. Not a single time of back to back Home or Away games.

great news for life long Redskins fans from NC that are also big Panthers fans. This year they only play during the same time a total of 6 times, and that doesn't happen until week 7! I'm kinda bipolar with my favorite team and so excited I can watch both most weekends (and Tivo the times they play at the same kickoff)
Congratulations to both you and that one other dude! ;)

So once again the Patriots got the easiest schedule, just like clockwork, correct? :football:
:tinfoilhat:Aren't they in a rotation just like every other team in the league?
yeah...I've never quite understood the conspiracy theorists in here.....the schedule is predetermined....the NFL doesn't give anybody an easy schedule or a hard one.....some people are just clueless.....

They have an easy schedule because they dominate their division...that gives (NYJ,MIA,BUF) worse records...which makes the Patriots schedule appear easy year in and year out.

They have the easiest schedule because they don't play themselves twice each year.

all 3 very :goodposting: Every year, people come up with these things like they were wronged because of a part of the schedule or the fact that they had an early bye or whatever. All this stuff is predetermined and only 2 games are based on poisiton the team finished in the division. Every year, some teams get a late bye and others get an early one. Its fair. Just depends on whose ox is getting gored, I guess. I guess if you want a certain team in your division to have a harder schedule, become a better team to compete against them.

The SOS is has always been a dumb point to make, yet people do it every year. Even on sports talk radio. As I said in another thread, every team plays their division twice and two other divisions, then two games with teams that finished in the same position as they did last season. While one division may have a much easier schedule than another division, every team in each division has pretty much the same SOS. If any team is effected, it's because they are the worst team in their division and have to play tougher teams. In which case, SOS is still meaningless.

I agree that who they play is pre-determined That being said the NFL could have done something about letting the Patriots play 3 warm weather teams at home in December (Houston, Miami and SF) and their two trips to Florida both come in December.

So once again the Patriots got the easiest schedule, just like clockwork, correct? :football:
Confirmed. Easiest schedule based on the 2011 records of this year's opponents.
How often have the Patriots had the easiest schedule?Just 4 games against teams that made the playoffs last season
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that New England didn't beat a team that finished with a winning record until the AFC Championship game.

They beat the Broncos in the semi-finals. I'm assuming that the Broncos had a winning record for the season

8-8 in the regular season, 9-9 counting the playoffs.

Fixed. They can only play the divisions in their rotation. Not sure what your point is, but it has nothing to do with the Patriots getting to play easy teams.
