With the game streaming on NFL.com and NBC's website, how will that affect television viewing? I understand it's an event and in the first few years it might just help people who have to work/can't be home to see the game. But over time I can see this taking away from TV viewers, and networks/advertisers pay a ton of money for the right to broadcast and advertise there.
Plus, if people are going to stream I think they'll just go to the NFL's site, meaning NBC might not get "credit" for those views. Technology is great, but this could really impact the financial bounty of the Super Bowl (with different ads showing when you stream vs watching on television). How do you guys think it will impact the Super Bowl, both now and down the road? Is this a defensive move since you can probably get a pirate stream anyway, or is this a new revenue source that could jeopardize the old one?
