The draft in general and the "moment of glory" aspect in particular have become way overvalued.

It sure is, particularly on football message boards. Remember Joe Thomas getting roasted here for going fishing with his dad instead of going to the draft?

Indeed I do. Apparently, some felt that it was sort of an insult to the NFL. And it's impossible to inflict any kind of meaningful insult upon the NFL.
