NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (2 Viewers)

Hard to believe, but the Flames are looking good to squeak in. I thought losing Giordano would be the death nail but they are 4-0-1 without him and have a pretty cake schedule coming down the stretch. Gaudreau making a serious run at the Calder too.

I think the two west teams that miss will be San Jose and Winnipeg.

Wild have been on a hell of a run but hidden in there is that the schedule has been very easy ever since the annual Buffalo Bounce Back started mid-January. that's about to change because the rest of the schedule is meaty starting tonight. 8 of the 15 are against the 6 teams currently leading the league with 91 points. the only game left against a non-playoff team is @Toronto 3/23.

not out of the woods yet.
You should trademark this

Caps look like a steaming pile of #### right now.Stars skated circles around them all night and won easily 4-2 and it wasn't even that close.

Not skating hard every shift, defensive lapses and very little urgency=garbage.

I wonder if Skapski gets the start tonight for the Rangers against the Sabres with a back-to-back weekend.

Put a two-unit bet on the Bruins to win it all at 18-1 :oldunsure:
Why? Seems like a horrible wager to me but as Dr Detroit will point out I'm a Leaf fan soI don't know jack.
They have been looking decent lately and I'm a hopeless homer.
Not a bad bet at all, looking a lot better and that aside, goaltending means so much in the playoffs and they have at worst a top 3 goalie in the East.

Tim Peel upholding his reputation. Goal by St Louis, review it, it wasn't hit with a high stick, good goal. Wait, lets review it again, the puck never even went in the net. No goal.

Nikita Kucherov with a really god awful and completely out of nowhere boarding on some Jets player. Totally selfish and stupid wtf guy has never hit anybody in his life.

They originally were debating if it was hit with a high stick. Toronto came in and bailed his blind ### out.

I just looked at the standings and three teams have e- eliminated from playoffs

Looks like its getting to be that time. Cant believe it

Islanders are pissing me off
Yeah, kinda saw this coming....

Ppl can freak out and get stressed all they want the last month plus - Isles can lose a bunch more games

ALL that's going to matter is getting Leddy back 100% and getting Okposo back in shape and the #1 line right.

The recent schedule means the last month has a lot more rest time and time to work out kinks, from here on out they are either home or have rest between games until the last game.....

Not playing horrible Hockey. But, team needs to be 100% for playoffs. Not good enough to make up for 2 of the top 3 players "off"

Rangers have been winning a lot of one goal games. I just hope that that doesn't translate to one goal losses come playoff time.

They have been getting fantastic goaltending since Lundquist got hurt. Can't expect more from Talbot and Shopski.

Hell of a weekend for the Rangers from a Metro division perspective.

Byproduct of the top 6 really struggling over the last 10 days or so. Team went from scoring 4-5 goals to 2 and under. Thankfully, the Hayes line has picked up the slack and they've been getting timely contributions from the 4th like last night. Better to have full line slumps now.

Article on Talbot's (Ranger goalie sitting in for Lundquist) trade value.

They'll be in a strong position. Getting him to agree to that extension earlier in the season was enormous. It's a lot easier to sell a team on a semi-untested goalie, and make them willing to part with a solid asset, when they aren't also needing to make a large financial commitment out of the box.

How the AHL overtime experiment reduced shootouts

I really like this and hope the NHL goes to this full time.Still keep the shootout after 7 minutes if no goal and you get tons of action.
I don't understand how anyone can be in favor of the shootout anymore.
Got a few here that seem to like it but I agree.7 minutes with 4 of them being 3 on 3 should help get a winner the right way.

It looks like it would be fun to watch. Speed, moves.and passing ability are key. There would be numerous fast break opportunities. Not sure how the players would feel about it. Its going to take a lot of energy to play 3 vs 2.

3 v 2?

I'm not a big fan of the 3v3. I'm sure it will be exciting at first but I can see it soon just feeling like another form of the shootout. That's too much open ice. I'd rather see a longer 4v4 (doubtful, I know) or just end in a tie.

It's still significantly better than the shootout IMO.

I think he feels if there is a penalty then the offending player goes off and it is a 3 on 2 power play.

Yea I tend to agree. I don't love ties but it's better than a gimmick to determine a winner.
