Thought this was an interesting read from a hockey dad point of view. Really puts things into perspective on what it takes.

Looking forward to a great game at the garden tonight. Hope the back to back doesnt hurt the blue shirts. Leaving in 15 minutes.
Doesn't look like it so far.
Where did all those goals come from. Hopefully that gets them right going into the stretch.
Looked like a couple of soft goals (or looked like soft goals) there. The game looked to be pretty evenly played. When it was 4-2 and the Ducks came out storming in the third period, I thought for sure they'd force overtime. Talbot played another strong game overall.

My son and I will be hitting up the Prudential Center tonight on our annual visit a barn or two every year tour. 2 down, 28 to go

Yep - not real happy the Pioneers get to meet a rested BC back East. And then meet Miami for the 100th time this year if we get past Eagles.

Midwest is dream bracket.

yeah, Mankato got a great draw.

wide open field this year. there are 10 teams that it wouldn't surprise me if they made the run.

I have no idea how the Purple Cows and Michigan Tech get such high rankings in Pairwise.

Mankato is legit this year. they were last year too.

I didn't realize Coleman was suspended a game for that hit. without him and Barber I don't think they get by a solid Providence team basically at home.

wasn't Michigan Tech ranked in the top-10 pretty much all year?
They beat Michigan early in the season to shock everyone and Ferris(ranked 8th at the time which was crazy - but they also beat Michigan) - in retrospect those weren't all that super of wins as Ferris didn't even get to .500 - but you do that along with a split of Duluth plus you have a league of doormats and you can make it work.

The biggest flaw in pairwise is early season wins out of conference plus out of conference tournies held during World Juniors - they feed on each other and all of a sudden you are in the clear. This years whipping boys were in the Big10 - so if you beat Minnesota or Michigan you got all sorts of comparison points in the plus column.

Mankato and Michigan Tech were doormats in WCHA - if they played in NCHC week in and out like before I think they would return to form.

It will be uphill - Providence had been down and out but with the home scenario may give them enough boost to beat Miami - once again the late season war of attrition in NCHC(even the old WCHA) rears it's head come tournament time.

They should run RIT right out of the barn.I think they have a great shot at taking it all.

as far as Atlantic teams go I think RIT is decent, but yes they should handle them. I like Harvard to upset on the other side, I'm not that impressed with Omaha.

At the same time, the West is all at-large teams.

Some Lowell people around here are whining today about the PairWise, but everyone knows the deal. Friend of mine who works for College Hockey News says that you flip one game result (2-1 loss to Merrimack when they had a 94-29 advantage on attempts) and Lowell would have been No. 13. But still, it is what it is.

I have FF tickets this year, via brother-in-law. Definitely will be going to the title game, but might have to dump the semis because of work.

North Dakota is in big trouble without 8th year senior Mark MacMillan. They looked lost this weekend. Again the wear and tear of a tough NCHC year is hurting a team.

I am looking to do the reverse if you are "dumping" some tickets.

that was really weird to see the Leafs try for the last 7 minutes. not a pretty win, Dubnyk had to come up big at the end.

Surprised they didn't give dub the night off with a back to back. Any concern with them with them whipping the horse too much before they get to the finish line, they're riding him pretty hard.

I think thats over stated a bit to be honest. They have at least 3 days a week where they dont have games. As long as you are mentally in the games, I dont see any issue.

I hope you're right, but I am a little concerned. Even the very elite goalies need a break at some point and (prior to this run with the Wild) Dub has never been asked to carry this heavy of a load. On top of the concerns of Dub possibly wearing down, I don't think you ever want the backups sitting too long without seeing some meaningful action. If I was Yeo, Kuemper would have been in last night and then back to Dub tonight on the Isle.

All things considered, not a bad spot for the Huskies. Closest regional site to home and familiar bldg and foe. Definitely not going to be easy for them but I can see them coming out of the West (No Dak) easier than either of the regionals out East.

We think the Laffs can't score, here's an interesting stat:

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens have scored the same amount of goals this season (193)
That Price guy is pretty important, eh?

I agree. only worrisome part for me is that it increases the odds for injury and Kuemper not seeing any game action. but until they secure a spot or he says he needs a break they should keep riding him.

couldn't ask for a better first round draw considering their seed IMO

I'm wondering where this run by Talbot ranks among other recent notable injury replacements. 15-3-3, .930 SV%, hasn't given up more than 2 goals in a game since February. Any thoughts from those more knowledgeable?

Not looking good for the "Ruins" ... now Hamilton is out "indefinitely" with what is believed to be a shoulder injury.

People want to harp on the team's lack of scoring, and that has been a significant dropoff, but they also were third in the league in GF last year even without you-know-who.

The biggest problem has been the defense. Chara is a shell of himself, Seidenberg has looked lost on many occasions. Losing Boychuk sucks in hindsight, but from a cap and contract standpoint it was the only move Chiarelli really could make in the preseason. Bartkowski has been dreadful for the most part. Now take away Hamilton, who actually is second on the team in scoring.

Pastrnak and Spooner have been revelations up front of late, so there is some hope there. But the Bruins are lacking the toughness that has been a big part of their past success. To that extent, they miss Iginla far more than they miss a pure scorer like Seguin. Lucic's act has grown thin. Marchand actually has been doing everything he can to carry the mantle, but there's only so much he can do.

Maybe they find a way to sneak in ... there still are only three teams (Wings, Sharks, Pens) who have been in the playoffs more consecutive times than the B's (seven). But if they miss out, don't be surprised if Chiarelli/Julien end up on the "hot seat" ... even with the recent Cup runs on their resume. Sometimes you just need to make a change.

Pretty sure the Seguin deal will be talked about as a big reason Chiarelli loses his job if it happens this year.

Been a long time since the Sabres played a game as important as the one on Thursday against Arizona. If they get a win, Tim Murray should fire Nolan before he leaves the ice.

Hard to beat Az's tank at this point. If a real NHL team with fans pulled what AZ is people would lose their minds. Not much more Murray can do other than call up an Amerk goalie (ala Pens in 84).
