NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

I know Quick has played a ton lately, but I was surprised they didn't start him tonight. Guess they thought they could steal one in Edmonton and rest Quick for the last two games.

In the last 45 years, only two defending Cup champions have missed the playoffs the next season:

2006-07 Hurricanes

1995-96 Devils

If the Isles completely collapse, miss the playoffs, and then win the lottery, the Sabres would get the first 2 picks in the draft because of the Vanek trade. Is that correct?

Nice to see Granlund get a nice goal after a dry spell and Zucker too from Stewart on a beautiful pass in his first game back. Zucker was all over the ice tonight creating chances out of nothing and his speed was as evident as ever. Great news for the Wild.

Crawford played very well too and Sharp stood out.

Is there any reason NBCSN doesn't list the SOG during the game? Is it too hard to get a basic graphic on-screen in the digital age that is 2015? Bizarre.

Perfect team for Zucker to come back against as Chicago can give MN a run for their money in regards to being the softest team in the NHL.

pretty neat for whoever won the drawing to come out of the crowd and run the camera for NBCSN last night. quality broadcast they run.

But for his speed to take him awkwardly into the boards like that was scary his first game back despite not being run. Glad he's back, and no fear = deadly.

Wild are two wins away from setting the NHL record for consecutive road wins streak at 13. looking forward to starting the playoffs on the road.

BUFFALO BOUNCEBACK*

*or lose and tank the rest for a top two pick
2014: 23-9-7, 53 points in next 39 games

2015: 27-8-3, 57 points in next 38 games

Thanks Buffalo!

As a Caps fan, I find myself hoping the Isles hang on to that #3 slot in the Metro. They look ripe for a first round beating.

Big game with Bruins in DC tonight. Going to put the o/u for percentage of Boston fans at Verizon Center at a very vocal 18%, including some really annoying guys with prime rinkside seats, the site of whom will infuriate me every time they come into camera range

Wow, insane finish in Philly. Isles score 2 goals in final 1:45 with Halak pulled to tie the game. Schenn throws a Hail Mary from the half boards and it squeaks through Halak with 2 seconds left in regulation.
Speechless. I. Have. No. Words.
Wow I hadn't seen the GWG but .... wow....

They stole my line.

I would like to see the Caps beat the Bruins, but in this case I would love to see the Bruins win to get a point ahead of Pittsburgh and push them to eighth.

Of course it won't matter because they will get a win with Buffalo throwing in the towel.

I wish it was that easy. If that ends up being a must-win game for the Pens, their collective sphincters will be extremely tight.

Julien shuffles the lines coming off a five-game win streak, then shuffled them at least twice more during the game. Meanwhile, the B's get shut out for the season by Holtby.

:wall: :wall: :wall:

I really miss Jack Burton and Sheriff.

Heard through the grapevine Sheriff bought a mansion with his push-up contest money and junior scored 45 goals in pee-wees this year. GB him.

A typical Caps first round exit will bring Sheriff back (FORE!!, Choking Dogs, etc.)

Very happy the Caps will either be in the 2 or 3 spot in the Metro and avoid the Rags and either the Habs or Bolts.

Holtby simply owns the B's this year,3 games and 0 goals against.Still say he's the team MVP and they will go as far as he can take them in the playoffs.

Trotz has this team playing good at the right time and it bodes well for them going forward.Bring on those stinkin Icelanders :boxing:

I've really not posted because I'm not as knee deep into the entire league as some of you and really the only thing I could post all season was YAY Rangers! Still watching as much as I can though which is limited with real life getting the way. Looking forward to the playoffs. Trying to figure out if its worth it to get the Garden for a game or two.

Rangers still play hard tonight after clinching this up, or do they give the sens a w?
Last I heard, everyone is playing. I wouldn't expect Girardi to block a dozen shots but they'll be trying to get Hank his 30th win. Game 1 won't be until a week from today, with the final game Saturday...so that's a pretty nice amount of rest already.

I'd expect they will play hard. With only two games remaining, you wouldn't think they would want to alter their playing style. Maybe give more ice time to the 3rd pair defense and play the 3rd and 4th line a tad more, but they definitely won't tank the game.

Man, been monitoring / buying off stub hub for Isles..... Ranger ticket prices are absolutely insane...

Once it gets over $200, to me it's absurd and I'll just go to a good bar... No NYR ticket seems to be under $200

In a dream world I'd love to see a NYI vs NYR matchup and go to the Garden for a game... at those prices tho, sheesh.

Yeah, it's a fortune. I have some good hookups for tickets but playoff tickets aren't exactly passed around easily. Still, would love to take my oldest to the Garden for the first time. It would certainly be more economical to do it during November on Wednesday night though.

My BIL islander fan is dead sure they are not making it.

Lol
Oh... Come on.

:drive:
Going Saturday Reaper - tailgate starts at High Noon.

2 Grills, Keg, dancing girls and maybe fire engines.

Come on down.
Ya know....

I started buying up playoff tickets and gave up Saturday.... My wife's birthday....

We'll see ;)
Where you finding playoff tickets? And for us much?
All around the $170 mark on stub hub... Round 1 and Round 2

If / When more are released I will play that game, buy as much as I can and sell off any if I somehow wind up with extras....

No Zucc again tonight.

And no Staal or Nash either.
Well knock me over with a feather. One scratch I could see, but three... Sure looks like they're not worried about carrying over play to the playoffs. Guess that's a good sign. Shows they're not worried about the players' psyche.

Imagine if they got hurt in a meaningless game and how the media would destroy the coach for it.

Staying on a roll would be nice but health is more important for them right now.
