I hope they cancel tonights game. Only seems right
I don't see how it won't be.I hope they cancel tonights game. Only seems rightAs a human being I'm sad, as an Angel fan I feel even more devastated. The game should be cancelled out of respect for him and his teammates.
And let's not forget that another person "connected to the Angels organization" was also killed. This is just awful, awful news for that team.I don't see how it won't be.I hope they cancel tonights game. Only seems rightAs a human being I'm sad, as an Angel fan I feel even more devastated. I hope this ####er is charged with felony manslaughter and given life in prison or death. Whatever it is, I hope he/she suffers before his/her final breath.Angels' Pitcher, 2 Others Killed In O.C. Crash
Minivan Allegedly Runs Red Light In Fullerton, Strikes 2 Cars
FULLERTON (AP) ― Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was one of three people killed early Thursday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Fullerton.
The crash took place only hours after the 22-year-old pitcher played in last night's Angels game.
Police say the driver of a minivan ran a red light in Fullerton and struck two cars, killing three people in a Mitsubishi and critically injuring a passenger.
Police Lt. Craig Brower says the minivan driver fled the crash scene and was captured a short time later. The driver was arrested and booked for investigation of felony hit-and-run.
Police say the van ran the red light early Thursday and struck the gray Mitsubishi, which then slammed into a light pole. Two people in the Mitsubishi died instantly, and a third died at a hospital a short time later.
A fourth occupant was in critical condition at UC Irvine Medical Center in
Orange.
SI reporting the he was DUIThe minivan's driver fled the scene and was later arrested, Brower said. Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, of Riverside will face charges of manslaughter, felony driving under the influence and hit-and-run, he saidAssociated Press story

Three people dead. A fourth injured. And the next couple of decades, the very prime of your adult life, will be spent in prison. You could make a case everyone who played could feel this way. "If I had only taken ball 4 there...." etc.Terrible news. It's got to be brutal being Brian Fuentes right now. Obviously you don't know the timing of events or how everything is going to go down, but if he doesn't blow the save in the 9th, the Angels don't have to bat in the bottom of the 9th, everyone gets out of the stadium a few minutes earlier, maybe this driver blows through the red light and hits nothing.I realize this is not the way people SHOULD think after something like this -- just that that's how I would be, no doubt.
Eh, you can think that way of just about every little thing in life. You can't beat yourself up for stuff like that. No one is to blame except the idiot drunk driver. It's got to be brutal being Brian Fuentes right now. Same here. Let this ####er rot in jail.I have zero sympathy for drunk drivers, especially if they kill people.
Oh even better, a drunk driver. This guy should never spend another second of his life as a free man. Of course, California prisons are overrun and because he'll be a good little boy in prison, he'll be out at some point so he can kill more innocent people with his drunken driving.I know you are thinking I'm overreacting here, but I have zero sympathy for drunk drivers, especially if they kill people.
Accidents are accidents even when they're vehicular manslaughter. There are an infinite number of variables that put Gallo and Adenhart in the same place at the wrong time. You could drive yourself nuts thinking about all of them but ultimately Gallo and Gallo alone is responsble.
Oh I completely agree. It's like the Benjamin Button scene where if this didn't happen and this didn't happen, then this wouldn't have happened, and so on.But I just think it'll be worse on BF because he was the one guy who could have controlled the outcome almost singlehandedly. You take an extra pitch here or there, maybe it shortens the game and maybe it doesn't. But if he gets things done in a 1-2-3 fashion in the 9th, it shortens the game by 10-15 minutes at least. I'm not saying I blame him obviously...I'm saying if I were him I would probably be laying unfair blame at my own feet for it. I think that's only natural in this situation.Clearly, 100% of the fault lies with the drunk driver and Fuentes has ZERO to do with what happened. But it's very normal for people to feel guilt over something like that. "If only I had done my job, he'd be alive"...even though one had nothing to do with the other, I can see why someone would do that. And I imagine that weighing on a person, especially so soon after.Eh, you can think that way of just about every little thing in life. You can't beat yourself up for stuff like that. When Darryl Kile died, they postponed the next days game. Sad day then, sad day now. Human life is so fragile.I don't see how it won't be.:( As a human being I'm sad, as an Angel fan I feel even more devastated. To me, driving drunk is the equivalent of firing a gun blindly in the area in which you're located. That the latter has typically been punished more severely than the former has always been mystifying to me.I don't understand the concept of Vehicular manslaughter in this or in most cases, at least in a case of a hit and run. You want to tell me we need flexibility for "accidents", which you can't really call this an accident in context of the guy being out drinking, but he was with it enough to try and flee. Why he gets a cupcake charge like "manslaughter". That SOB who was driving is a stone cold murderer unless it turns out the guy who was driving Adenharts car was equally drunk or something. But if Adenharts driver was with it, this guy should really look at the death penalty. I'm just sick hearing about this. 22 years old against that lineup, I think he was really on his way.
I was surprised to hear only the manslaughter charge as well and not 2nd degree. There was a horrible incident that happened this past weekend here where a 20 year old kid and a 44 year old mom (yes, that's right 44 year old mom with her teen or preteen kid(s) in the car) were street racing and the 20 year old kid slammed into a Mercedes crossing the street. Killed the driver of the Mercedes and her 2 year old daughter. Also, killed one of his passengers, 13 years old. He was instantly charged with a well deserved 3 counts of 2nd degree murder. The punk that killed Adenhart and others should at least get the same for his recklessness.Sad stories all around.I don't understand the concept of Vehicular manslaughter in this or in most cases, at least in a case of a hit and run. No offense, but what the hell is wrong with you? Who thinks like this? It's got to be brutal being Brian Fuentes right now. None taken. But there's nothing wrong with me so far as I know. We were talking about the accident in my office and someone mentioned how they were watching the game last night...they mentioned Fuentes blew the save, which caused it to go later, yada yada. It just got us thinking. If it's out of line, sorry. Just came up in conversation, that's all. We were all pretty much in agreement that it's got to be difficult on him.So anyway, at least 10 people think like this. If you and everyone else on the board don't think that way, it's fine with me. I think we've exhaused this line of conversation at this point, so I won't have any more comment on it. Thoughts and prayers to Adenhart's family and teammates. No offense, but what the hell is wrong with you? Who thinks like this? It's got to be brutal being Brian Fuentes right now. What if they had stopped at Denny's to take a leak and get a milkshake?None taken. But there's nothing wrong with me so far as I know. You my friend are a moron...there are plenty of people who could of "single handedly" controled it. I often wonder how people like you make it through every day life. Do you wear a helmet?Oh I completely agree. He's also had previous alcohol related driving issues. I didn't hear the whole story, but ESPN reported possible murder charges being brought based on his prior issues. I didn't hear the full story, so I may have heard that wrong. So the guy was drunk, and had a suspended license. Unreal!
