ok, i traded my first rounder last year for a playoff push...it didn't pan out...so, now i'm stuck with my very first pick being #18 (2.06). i've always contended that you can win even if your first rounder is a bust (half are), but now it puts a whole lot more pressure on my second round pick...here are my thougthts; i'm curious to the shark pool's opinion:
target a #1 WR from the top 5 or 6 (ssmith, holt, fitz, CJ, TO, harrison): it's safe, almost a sure thing
target a RB2 who i think can be a top 10 or RB1 (FWP, mcgahee, westbrook): safe
target reggie bush who can make or break my season: not safe, but fun. we get to keep 2 players for 3 years before they go back into the pool, so also building for the future.
mostly TD HEAVY league with small yardage bonuses. start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 2 FLEX, 1 K , 1 DEF.
TO is risky unless i see what i like tonight.
i'd rather get wayne later than harrison early
i'd be happy with holt, fitz and CJ. smith i'm undecided...he won't repeat blah blah
FWP should get more TDs this year. floor is great RB#2 numbers, ceiling is high if can convert GL
mcgahee, see FWP but not as optimistic
westbrook's injury issues concern me and CBuck intrigues me as the GL guy like back when philly ran the 3-headed monster.
bush will just be fun to have on my team and see what happens over the next 3 years. i don't expect big numbers unless deuce gets re-injured.
ETA: i'm not looking for a "who do i draft," but rather opinions on drafting strategy given that i don't have first rounder...i.e. what RB will be there at 31 when i pick again and is it worth grabbing a holt to get a chester taylor blah blah blah
