No word on Chris Henry, WR? (1 Viewer)

It's week 7 and the suspension is almost up. Would he be worth picking up now or is he still a few weeks away from seeing game action?

Have you read those threads? Not sure I would call what's inside them "info".
Not much info, you're right. I should have said "Chris Henry Threads Are Available"ETA: I have picked up Chris Henry in a couple of leagues already. He's likely to put up good numbers if he come back.
Why do you think this? (Not knocking you - I am genuinely curious.)It seems like his good games in the past have been when he was WR2 because Housh was injured, etc. Has he put up quality numbers when WR3?

Henry started 4 games last year: weeks 1, 2, 9 & 17. He scored 1 TD in those starts. He had 8 TDs in the other 9 games where he was the 3rd WR (He missed 3 games last year). Yardage-wise, it's a different story. Half his yards came in those 4 starts (311 yds vs 294 in the other 9 games). His 2005 numbers are similar (5 starts - 176yds - 1TD, 9 other games played - 246 yds - 5 TDs).While he has more value in a scoring league than in a performance league as a WR3, he still has some value in both. So long as you take into account that he's wildly inconsistent. But that's true if he's starting or at WR3. Check out his game logs here

Collinsworth said on HBO this week that he thinks the Bengals need to make an example of somebody and that somebody could be cutting Chris Henry. Said Henry still doesn't "get it" and may never play for any NFL team in the future. I have the show on DVR and can get exact quotes if you want, but that is basically what he said.

Caught my ear because I have been holding Henry in two leagues all season and need the roster spot with byes and injuries. I wish it came from a more official source but Collinsworth is usually tapped in well to the Cincy situation. I still am holding Henry but he is hanging by a thread.

He just said what he thinks they should do...not what they will do. I should probably start taking medication for my genital infection but it doesn't mean that's what I WILL do.

If CJ or Housh go down, he would be huge, picked him up and stashed him on the bench earlier in the week.

As a WR3 hes a serious redzone threat/sleeper deep threat. as a Wr 3 he commonly gets a TD and if its deep you get 70-80 yards out of him.

With Walker hurt, he may be a risk to take.Though, not sure I can play him in front of Crayton or Jennings unless Glenn comes back and Jennings ends up hurt again.

I picked him up and stashed him last week for a couple of reasons. He is slated to return and be eligible to play week 10, Nov.11th @ Baltimore. The timing couldn't be better for the Bengals. To say that they have struggled finding a 3rd wideout to replace him thus far would be an understatement. Of course, Goodell has to give him the green light.

The team I play week 10 is a division rival and has Palmer. I already have T.J. I just wanted to counter him as best I could. I could afford to roll the dice with Henry, so I did.

by 'word on chris henry' I think the op was talking about the nfl, not everybody's ff teams.

Lighten up, Francis.Only trying to share a view and the viewpoint from which it was coming from.Obviously, there is no word on Chris Henry at this time. Beats having a "blank" thread.

You really should. And I think Henry is a great pickup to stash away for the stretch run.

There are now rumblings that Chad Johnson may request a trade at the end of this season - so I highly doubt Cincy takes Cris Collinsworth's advice and cuts CHenry to send a message.

I would argue that he's more valuable if they are both healthy. They take the pressure off him. Somebody else pointed this out, but in 2006 he had:

1 TD in 4 starts

8 TDs in 9 games with CJ and Housh playing.

Example for what... they haven't been getting in trouble lately. If they were going to make an example it would have been then. And how is making your team worse by getting rid of the best 3rd WR in the league a good idea. Collinsworth is a tool.

I thought he was supposed to be back week 9, right? 8 game suspension?

Bye weeks don't count. Suspensions are for "games", not "weeks".Bengals bye week was week 5. Games/weeks 1-4 + 6, 7, 8, 9.Not trying to be smart here. Just pointing it out.
