I think it actually looks pretty good. Your main weakness is 3B and OF; your main strength is Middle Infield and Starting Pitching. I would drop Casey Blake and pick up Troy Glaus if he's available. I would also drop Arroyo who is going to do more damage to your ratios than he'll be worth in counting stats and pick up instead a quality Middle Reliever like Brandon League who will help your ERA and WHIP and has an outside chance of getting saves this season. Ditto David Ortiz. Sad to say it, but I think a reliever has more value on your bench than he does.

Then, once the season gets going, and your Starting Pitching is looking really good, trade one of your SPs for a legitimate third baseman. And you can include in the package one of your MI guys. I'm surprised Stephen Drew is your best Util option. There should be OFers or 1Bs on the WW who should have better numbers.

All in all, though, not bad.

It's pretty bad.

Mauer and Tulo are both good but poor bets at their price, they have little upside relative to draft position and substantial downside.

You're littered with expensive health risks Reyes, Cliff Lee, Brian Roberts, and Justin Morneau. One or two is fine, but four? If you like playing with fire.

You're also littered with a lot of guys with a low chance of producing a meaningful profit - Loney (I like Borbon, but not Big Z - good trade regardless), Blake, Soriano, Wells, Rios, S Drew, Cuddyer (Papi is a better risk even though I'm not a big fan), and Shields. Again, one or two is good, but seven? Yuck. Arroyo's worthless until July, do yourself a favor and drop him now.

The only guys I like for what you probably paid for them are Cruz, Hart, Asdrubal, Nolasco, and Billingsley. Liriano, Lindstrom, Bedard (if you have a deep DL) are solid risk/rewards but on a team already littered with risk that's a tall order.

I'm not saying give up on the season, I just don't like your team. There is some to work with but you should probably do it sooner rather than later so you're not fighting an uphill battle all season.

Yeah, I know what you are saying about Morneau and Mauer...my lack of overall beisbol knowledge and severe homerism got me into those guys. I'm scrambling for RP and would like top upgrade at 3b. Thanks for the input, guys.

My advice, though, is don't trade for a closer right now.

The only closers worth trading for at this point would be the top 5 who you know are going to be good and keep their job, barring injury. Anyone else could turn terrible and be replaced. So you're better off waiting for a couple of months and seeing if you can't get any guys who get given the closers job off of waivers (or pick them up now and hope they get the job later) or trading with someone who has tons of excess saves at mid-season.

If you try to trade for a closer now, you'll probably end up paying full price for someone who probably won't give you full value.
