Norwood and Bush (1 Viewer)

I think Brian Calhoun is closer in talent to Bush than Norwood, though Norwood did look quick in the preseason game. Norwood's cieling is his current teammate and mentor, Warrick Dunn, IMO. Calhoun's cieling is still unclear to me, but he's a sleeper.

I was envisioning Norwood as the next Roger Craig. I know it's preseason and it was just one game, but man...the guy is explosive! In the right offense, I could see him going 1000/1000. I don't think we'll ever see a RB go for over 1000 yds receiving again, but I think this kid could do it.

Same build, same speed on paper(unsure game speed) both good receivers and from what I saw of Norwwood he had more wiggle then I thought. I figured him to be more of a straight line runner.

They may have the same build on paper, but Bush looks much more compact. Norwood is lanky with long legs. Norwood is a good player who should develop into a contributor, but Bush is a star talent. I think he's a lot quicker and more explosive. And one of the less appreciated things about Bush is that his athletic instincts are top notch. That's why he's able to make some of those crazy flips and cuts. It's all instinct.

You realize you're comparing Norwood to the guy that for many scouts had the highest rating coming out of college, ever?

Not saying there haven't been, aren't currently, or won't be in the future, guys of similar talent as Bush. But I'll be very surprised to find a guy who didn't even rate as a high first rounder in scouts eyes is all that close to Bush. The scouts aren't infallible by any means, but how many guys like Barry that have had the kind of ability that Bush seems to have, was it not fairly readily apparent?

Norwood did really well on a much worse team, but I honestly don't think he compares. And I consider myself fairly lukewarm in my evaluation of Bush.

:lmao: Maurice Drew is the closest thing to Bush out of these guys. Both are gamke breakers.

I'm just curious as to why Calhoun didn't even play in the preseason opener. Marinelli was quoted as saying the reason was they Lions offense only got like 46 snaps and he had some other guys to look at and couldn't fit him in. I'm sure he'll play some this week, but it is a bit odd that he didn't even get in the game on Friday.I'm guessing for now he'll have trouble beating out Arlen Harris for the backup job, considering his history with Martz. Calhoun is definitely more talented though.

Nobody is close to Bush.

If I had to pick a second place it would be Maroney.

Norwood doesn't have Reggie Bush type agility, or vision. He's a better fit in a one cut run scheme, as used by Denver, Atlanta, Green Bay, Houston, though. Reggie Bush's run against the Titans make that very clear, he wouldn't have been able to do the great things he can do, in a downhill run system.

Norwood is better than those calling him Jerry Rice playing RB... ironically enough those are probably the same people wetting themselves with the Bush as Mike Vick at RB comparisons.

Maybe it is the Titans, but did you see Norwoods game last night? Two runs stand out the 63 yarder and the 4th and 1 where he was running on two feet and a hand.
