Look for the NON-starters, see all the zeros?

Doesn't really matter staffer or MB team, there's a good amount for each. It's probably reasonable to say (generally)those were some bad picks.

Any thoughts on how to improve that next year?

IF This were a regular league those guys would have been WW fodder but this wasn't.

I'm not looking to start a beating thread for bad picks. If you could please think back to late August or early September and how you felt about player X, that would be key here. In this deep draft, most of these players were players that the drafters thought were "worth a shot" not star players.

Universally, I think an effective draft strategy in any larger sized, survivor or best ball league involves drafting later round guys that will play a fair amount no matter how good they are.

Clearly you can't find fault with players that got hurt, and that's where a lot of the zeroes came. However, IMO, at a certain point in the draft there are a lot of ??? left for players to pick from and you have to take a stab at somebody.

I was done in this year by the ho hum numbers of Lawrence Maroney and the mystery health of Marvin Harrison. Even with my Top 2 picks in a 14 team league doing very little, I still ended up third.

I almost took Owens or Wayne instead, and either of those picks would have netted me 190-230 in more raw points.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda I know.

1. Don't draft more than 2 deep at the RB position from any NFL team unless it's someone like Kevin Faulk with a defined role. A large number of those zeros were prayers rather than draft picks. Sproles, Sneeling, etc could have be a player that was actually going to see the field.

2. Don't draft anyone with a drug history.

2.1 Don't look at pictures of David Boston's guns.

I'll have to get back to this...

If you look at who has survived in the message board leagues and not the MB vs Staff.

Alot of people had the elite TEs, also Randy Moss,Welker - really any part of the Pats passing game got you far.

I think my strategy for 2008 in 16 teamers is go 1RB,elite TE, then load up at WR, good QBs were 9-10 deep this year so again waiting there is the best move

also the late round receivers that produce are key - McDonald,Engram,R.White,Curtis etc. these late round gems usually help.
