Stacked in the OF (JDM, Cargo, Sano, Avi Garcia, J Ramirez, Benintendi) and can only start 3 plus a Utility

Would you trade Benintendi for Nova to get a pitching upgrade?

h2h weekly points league.

Is it a keeper league?  Nova is on a tear and he's pretty much a lock to be a serviceable fantasy pitcher given how good his control is.  However, I see him coming down to earth a little and I feel like you could get more for Benintendi.  Benintendi is already showing that he's a very good hitter surrounded by great hitters.  Wait until he starts stealing.  If it's a keeper league, I wouldn't even consider it.

Yeah, this. Maybe Benintendi is a little overhyped in a single season roto, but at the same time, I can see him being a points league monster (low Ks, lots of doubles).

Yeah I think he and Bregman are going to be better in points/cat leagues than in roto.

Ivan Nova has now pitched over 100 innings with the Pirates. 2.64 FIP, 0.974 WHIP, 18.50 SO/W

Getting close to the point where maybe he is just really ####### good

At MLB, yes, it does appear that way. He also has 8 wins in 16 starts (better than I would have thought) and a 6.7 K/9. Maybe he's a lot better in points leagues but unless he keeps up the crazy WHIP he's kind of meh in roto.

100% exposure for me. I might hang a life size portrait in my living room at this point. Meh my ###.

We got a doubleheader today betweenthe Rockies and Cubs.  Here's a list of doubleheaders from 2016:

http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/doubleheaders/_/year/2016

What stands out is that starting pitchers worthy of a regular spot on a winning fantasy baseball team NEVER get shelled in a doubleheader.  It never happens.  This gets balanced out by spot starters getting shelled quite a bit in a doubleheader.  This really gets put to the test today (Tuesday May 9th), because we have TWO high quality starting pitchers going in a doubleheader with both Arrieta and Lackey.  And its in Coors.

It'll be interesting to see if this pattern can withstand this test.

I added Jon Jay, part because I think both Brantley and Holliday will be off and I don't have another OF, but - doubleheader...Coors...and my biggest cat of need is avg.  Seems like a good bet.

How's this working out?

I picked up tyler oneill today in a league where he was still available.  Guys been terrible up until about a week ago.  Maybe hes about to get really hot and will get a callup soon.

also like 20 left after auction. could of did better with that.

Is it worth holding onto Todd Frazier at his point. I have Saurez and Gallo (who's average is bad enough) at 3B, just picked up Smoak to fill in at first as I can't have his dude in my lineup anymore. Reminds me of some of the awful seasons Mark Reynolds has had in the past. I just dropped Franco for Smoak wondering if I he's the one I should have held over Frazier.

He's not good. When the weather heats up in Chi-town he'll go back to launching bombs, but it will probably come with a .210 average.

In my 5x5 roto league, I acquired in trade the corpse of Pujols along with some other pieces (Thames), and while I'm not unhappy with that trade so far cause I've kept Pujols on the bench, I'm wondering if I should make a move. My question is, for CI I have him, Jake Lamb, Bryant, Wil Myers and Moustakas. Logan Morrison just launched his 11th bomb today. Would anyone drop Pujols or Moose for Morrison? As you can see, it would only be for depth, but still... Thanks.

Moose and LoMo are almost the same guy. Pujols is what he is but he could drive in 130 with Trout in front of him. (While hitting .240 with 25 bombs and a sub .300 on-base percentage, but still). I wouldn't, but if you don't want to wait for Moose to get traded to a better team, I'd consider dropping him to ride the hot hand.

Guy offered me Matt Harvey for Adam jones in a league where SP is very thin and I'm stacked in the OF.

worth a shot or is harvey useless?

also, the guy has berrios so I could counter for berrios

How bad is your starting pitching where you would consider plugging Harvey in?  If you could get Berrios for Jones, I would definitely make that trade.  Berrios only has 2 starts under his belt but his stuff is absolutely filthy.  The problem is you're trying to buy him at his highest point so I doubt the owner makes that trade.

Harvey can prove me wrong on someone else's roster.  Generally speaking, I loathe trading for Berrios types.  If it's a shallower league then I'd pass and keep mining waivers, but if it's deep and your pitching is in shambles then it may be the dice roll you need to make.

Why?  You don't think the upside of a guy like Berrios is worth dealing someone like Jones (especially if he's already very deep at outfield)?  Berrios could flame out but the potential is there.

I love acquiring these types.  From free agency/waivers - Bundy midseason last year immediately come to mind.  Trading starting bats for them though?  Nope.

Honestly at this point give me Berrios over Harvey. If you can spare Jones then go for it.

Someone in my league cut Evan Longoria (12 team). I should blow my FAAB, right?

To add: We only use FAAB for players on waivers after getting cut or added to the database. So, don't use FAAB frequently, just when someone desirable gets cut.

His season this year looks just like the ones he had in 2014 and 15.  I mean you can pick him up if he's better than your current 3Bman, but in a 12 team league I'd think you might have someone just as good already.

I've got Gyorko and Bregman at 3B currently (Bregman mostly in my UT spot.) Gyorko has been better; probably a push between Longoria and Bregman.

Maybe I'm overrating Longoria based on reputation.

Longo is playing through a bad wheel. What he is doing certainly isn't bad, but I would expect more of the same with shut down early potential instead of anything like last year.

I'm tied for first in my 12-team H2H-points keeper where almost all my studs - Betts, Machado, Scherzer, X-Bog - have to go back into the pool after this season.

Been offered Bryant, Syndergaard, and Chapman (all rentals only) for Bellinger, Manaea, Andrew Miller, and Tyler Anderson (all with last-10-round keeper eligibility for multiple years).

I've gotta do this because #### it, flags fly forever, right? Or am I taking on too much health risk to be gutting my farm system like this? Anyone worried Thor gets shut down early if the Mets' clown show drags on past the ASB?

I don't know if I would do all of them.  What is your weakness and see if those are improvements.  Right now Bellinger, Manaea, and Miller are probably holding their own so how much of an upgrade are you getting?  I don't look to go that far but see where I can improve my biggest weakness and go at that.

I have similar worries. I've been offered a Syndergaard + for Kershaw + trade in a keep forever league where I'm just middle of the pack but having a hard time getting excited over it. I think I'll just keep Kershaw.

Thanks for the response. I guess the answer is "not enough studs" - the league plays shallow because of the lineups (9 hitters, 5 SP, 3 RP), top-level talent tends to get consolidated ahead of the trade deadline, and I learned the hard way last season that potential future breakouts don't do you any good on your bench in the playoffs.

I've tended to be pretty good at identifying up-and-comers at SP so I don't mind cutting ties with Manaea and Anderson - think them and Miller would be enough to get Bryant and Thor?

I would much rather have Kershaw in a keep forever than Syndergaard.  That + would have to be a whole heck of a lot to give up Kershaw.

I guess this would depend on the guy that has Bryant and Thor.  Things always get wonky in trade value when you are in situations where stud players can't be kept beyond this year.  They have virtually no value to a team that is dwelling in the bottom so sometimes they will take anybody with upside that may help for a few years in the future even if on the surface everyone would say there is no way that trade goes through.  Float it out there and at least get a dialogue going.  The only real risk is that the Bryant/Thor owner starts shopping and the price tag goes up.

Syndergaard still hasn't starting throwing yet from his injury according to rotoworld.  I would stay away.

Anybody have any news on Nova?  He left with knee inflammation on Tuesday.  He is scheduled to start on Sunday but my lineup locks today.  Any word on if he will be skipped?
