Now the 2018 Assistant Coach Thread (3 Viewers)

Is this Garcia kid worth a full time roster spot at this point in deep leagues?  Shouldn't be hard for him to crack the Marlins rotation with starts like this.  Not watching the game, how does he look?
he looks good, but miami stinks.  the TB kid has something interesting too.....chirinos i think.

Is Chirinos stretched or just the start of their bullpen day?
I think the plan is to keep him in the rotation, especially if he keeps pitching like this. I dropped my catcher to pick him up yesterday. Thankfully. I had 3 of my top pitchers yesterday going (McCullers/Tanaka/Wood) along with 3 waiver guys (Pivetta/Wheeler/Yonny). It took outstanding efforts from all the waiver guys to keep my ERA under 7.00.

I have S Gray in multiple leagues and Porcello in 1 league.  With those offences, I am thinking of sitting both guys tonite.  I fear a typical 8-7 game.

Any thoughts?

What kind of offer would be needed to nab Bryce Harper at this point?  I’ve got a glut of offensive talent and I’d like to trade 2 for 1 to upgrade at OF.  The guy with Harper is starting Duda at first, Harper and guys like Odubel Herrera and Choo at OF.

Jose Abreu, Gregory Polanco, Beltre?

Abreu and JD Martinez?

Its a 14 team 20 man keeper, 5x5, OBP instead of BA.  Thanks!

That seems like too much for Harper.  Both Abreu and JD are pretty much studs at their respective positions.  Who would be your backup at 1b?

So with it being a keeper, I’ve been very fortunate in winning trades and whatnot over the years (won the past two titles).

My current offense:

C - Chirinos (punt catcher)

1b - Freeman, Abreu

2b - Murphy (DL), Villar

SS - Bogaerts (DL - Solarte at the moment)

3B - Sano, Beltre

OF (start 3) - JD Martinez, Springer, Rhys Hoskins, Gregory Polanco, Acuna, David Dahl

UTIL - Depending on day and matchup, it’s been Abreu, Polanco, Beltre, or also Ohtani

This is part acquiring a top hitter, part making room for Acuna

12team 5x5obp roto

I’m being offered Votto and J Upton for Stanton, Albies, and Ohtani (Batter)

my lineup

C-Ramos

1b-Miggy

2b-Albies

SS-T Turner

3B- Bryant

Of- Stanton

Of-Schwarber

Of-Cargo

Of-C Taylor

UT- Kinsler

Ut- Kingery

Bench- s Gennet, Ohtani, m Carpenter

Daily or weekly lineup changes? (Makes a big difference in value for Ohtani batter).

Ok with Freeman, that makes the deal a lot more appetizing.  Still too much IMO.  Perhaps you could start by offering Polanco (sell high?) and Abreu and see what he comes back with?  JD in this Boston offense might even outperform Harper by the end of the year.

Teoscar or Franchy?
That's a tough one. Both are interesting, but will have major playing time issues when everybody's healthy. I think I like Franchy's talent a little more, but Teoscar's path to playing time could be a little better with the DH/Grichuk factors.

I have Franchy, but trying to get both. But I play in daily roto with fairly deep benches, so playing time issues aren't a huge concern.

How aggresive for Trout? 5x5 H2H, redraft. Pitching is fine. Middle and corner IF is stacked, OF is lacking.

Have J Ramirez, Turner, Murphy, Bryant, Bogaerts, Kingery, Taylor. OF is basically Ozuna and garbage.

Trying to pull off Bryant + Bogaerts for Trout. He is pushing for Bryant + Ramirez. I am still tempted. Tried Ramirez + Ozuna too. He didnt bite on that.

Fwiw, I don't think there's a whole lot of a difference between Bogaerts and Ramirez.  I think Xander showed in the first 2 weeks that last year was injury driven.  Yeah, he's injured again, but not the sort that will linger like in 17.

INF stacked like you’re sitting one or more of the guys you listed?

Sale + Sano for Donaldson + Verlander.  The team giving up Donaldson also has Rendon.  Which side gets better deal.  Head to head points league.  For hitters, points are given for the usual categories plus walks and points are deducted for Ks.  For pitchers, quality start is a big category (8 points per QS).

Pretty even, would be much more comfortable with Sano going forward than Donaldson, solely because of injury concerns, but understand someone gambling on him.

Thanks.   I just countered with Verlander/Donaldson for Castellanos/Sale.  I'm a bigger fan of Castellanos this year than Sano.  Not sure if he'll go for it.  I'm willing to also throw in someone like Villanueva (who I think will be regressing soon) or Kingery.  I still have Rendon so I would probably accept his initial offer if he doesn't like my counter.

I like the Donaldson/Verlander side quite a bit more

Okay to cut bait on Ryan Zimmerman, thinking about replacing with Austin or Alonso

also, would you rather have Dejong or asdrubal Cabrera at ss?

Zim has a .871 OPS over the last 2 weeks and that lineup is only going to get better as they get healthy.  Austin probably won't see consistent PT. Theyre going to give Bird every chance to succeed once he's healthy. I'd do what I could to pick up Alonso, but not at the expense of Zim

Think Dejong's been figured out. His turn to adjust. I'd lean Asdrubal with position flexibility being the tie-breaker.

That's the second time someone has posted about dropping Zimmerman and he's gone yard the same day.

Everyone, please keep doing that.

I forgot to mention that it's a keeper league where we can keep a player for 3 years.  I would be able to keep Sale for 3 years.  I've already used up 1 year on both Verlander and Donaldson.  Verlander and Sale are both studs but Sale has to be more desirable from a keeper standpoint.  I wouldn't even consider the move if I didn't already have Rendon and Villanueva.

The guy wanted to hold off on this trade until after seeing a few games from Donaldson.  I warned him that it could backfire if Verlander pitched a couple more gems.  Yup I'm pretty sure Verlander isn't going anywhere.  No way in hell am I trading him at this point.  I don't know what the hell is going on in Houston but I like owning some of that stock!

hitting  below the mendoza line a month into the season....you'll continue to see him get dropped at this rate

Rank the following free agent SP options in a H2H points league.

Buehler

Romero

Kingham

Soroka

Garcia

Mahle

Rank them. Specific cats aren't important, this is a points league. OPS probably the best gauge for value

Cron

Bird

Alonso

Healy

Is this the kind of league where if (when) Bird gets hurt again, you can just go pick up Cron or Healy?

I go Bird, Alonso, Healy, Cron.
