NRA files for bankruptcy, says it will reincorporate in Texas

Sad really. I remember the NRA as a kid that promoted hunting and gun safety. The last several decades they seemed to only promote conspiracy theories about the government taking your guns and why regular citizens needed weapons of war to fight a tyrannical government. So many Americans murdered because of access to those weapons.

It's not the same NRA I grew up knowing either.  Became a total scam org.

Yeah, I joined before realizing that it appears to be a slush find for the higher ups like Wayne LaPierre.  Well, I got another 4.5 years left on my membership so....now what?

Joined the NRA when I was 13. Was a staunch supporter for over 20 years. When I first heard the stories about Wayne, I wasn't bothered at all. I figured that we needed someone who was willing to play the "lobbyist game" to keep up with all the liberal groups who do the exact same thing. And if Wayne wanted to treat himself to a nice vacation now and then, then it was a well-deserved reward for protecting my rights.

But Wayne definitely took things too far. He let the spotlight cloud his judgment and he turned into exactly the type of elitist that the average NRA member despises. I hope the NRA can reorganize without Wayne while continuing to fight for my rights.

They aren't, got my hopes up when I saw the headline yesterday but it's just a way to try and protect themselves from the lawsuit.

Instead I got them coming to Texas were I live. Were their influence is already such I can walk around with a semi-automatic rifle but can't legally place a bet or smoke a joint.
