If the Bears passed up the 6th overall pick for Briggs, why would they accept the 20th?
No clue, maybe that's the start of negotiations and they work something else additional out?Heard it on radio too so....there must be some sorta talks going on between the two teams

T Mike Rosenthal signed a 1 year deal with the Fins. I thought the Gmen might bring him back as a backup since the market wasn't yielding much for him and they need Ts.

Briggs, eh? Tell me more.
He and Pierce are close close friends. Google Pierce interview and pick an interview any interview and you'll see he's rrrrrrrrreally into the idea of the Giants signing his friend. Briggs hasn't said anything of note really. Many think the Bears will franchise him.
Briggs outplayed Urlacher over the last 5 games of the year. He is excellent and I would open up my wallet for him. Watch the playoffs and Briggs was flat out better than Urlacher (who over pursues and gets blocked a little too easy). BU is great in coverage though.BTW, I wanted to clarify my previous post when I mentioned moving McKenzie to guard. I like Diel and would move him to center.
I will be shocked if the Bears let Briggs hit the market. Bears have tons of cap space this year and in the future. Jerry A has done an amazing job of signing players right before their prime (Briggs is an exception where he even made it to the FA year). When contracts of folks like Tommie Harris come up, by then contracts of people like Olin Kreutz, Mike Brown will be almost done. Also, Angelo has been very smart to front load contracts in many cases when we had cap space every year (for eg John Tait got a much larger cap impactive # in his 1st 2 years than any other year since he was transition tagged by the CHiefs; same thing with Olin Kreutz since Miami wanted him too). This helps to keep the salary cap space very healthy every year. There is no one on the FA market that the Bears really need to sign. Just franchise Briggs and some vets will sign with the Bears for cheap too since they are on the cusp of a championship.
"Still alive"According to BBI/Scouts.com Giants offerred their first rounder for Briggs
If the Bears passed up the 6th overall pick for Briggs, why would they accept the 20th? :drive:
The Bears also had to give their 1st round pick in that trade, so it's not like they simply passed up the 6th overall pick.
