Sure. For such a major newspaper--maybe the most major newspaper--to officially take this position on it is, I think, a big deal.Does anyone here seriously care what the NYT has to say about it?
It's a safe position to take. They didn't do this when they thought there was a chance they'd lose subscribers. Seems like a money grab to me.Sure. Well, can't argue with that.It depends on how often you do each. 32 oz of weed can wreak some havoc on your lungs.Yeah that is dumb. The soda is probably worse for you though.Weed should be legal, but 32 oz soft drinks are just way over the line.
The number of users will only change slightly, but the number of criminals will drop significantly. We do not need more drug users.
Have you seen how many people go to your local CVS or Walgreen? We do not need more drug users.
And have you seen the lines at Starbucks?Have you seen how many people go to your local CVS or Walgreen? We do not need more drug users.
What if it cut down on the amount of people who drink on a daily basis? We do not need more drug users.
And the supermarkets? You put anything in your mouth and it has drugs in it.And have you seen the lines at Starbucks?Have you seen how many people go to your local CVS or Walgreen? We do not need more drug users.
We should. What if it cut down on the amount of people who drink on a daily basis? We do not need more drug users.

I guaranty you legalization will not increase the number of drug users. Because even those who will try it for the first time have been using some other drug.We do not need more drug users.

Why would God's son need it?
Oh great, now those politicians who don't support legalization of pot are racists too? Any possibility that they are Nazi's as well?Plenty of politicians opposed allowing black people to vote and ending prohibition. Doesn't really mean that are even within a football field of being right.

Cannabis has been part of religion for a long time. As they pointed out the temples used to burn incense that had cannabis in them to help achieve the proper mood for the worshipers. Why don't you check out who smokes pot and who gets the most jail time and then decide if the laws don't end up being a tad racist. If they would put white teens in the system at the rate they do black teens the war on marijuana would have ended long ago.Oh great, now those politicians who don't support legalization of pot are racists too? Any possibility that they are Nazi's as well?Plenty of politicians opposed allowing black people to vote and ending prohibition. This board has always been overwhelmingly pro-legalization. It's one of the very least controversial issues in the FFA. And solid majorities of elected officials in both parties disagree with us.Does anyone here seriously oppose legalizing marijuana? I mean anyone lucid and who can read.

Yeah but now the people are with us. Latest survey 55% support legalization now. At some point the pols will have to come around or they will start losing elections on this issue. This board has always been overwhelmingly pro-legalization. God I'd love this more than anything.Otis said:Totally looking forward to a day I can come home from work after a long week, sit out in my yard and smoke a bowl with the missus. I love drinking, I love cigars, but a little variety will be nice.NREC34 said:I just watched a discussion about this on Stephanopoulos. Tom Cole, R from OK said he wants to see some real legislation on this and didn't say he was against legalization. Maybe that was just a political answer and he didn't want to say how he really feels but it really feels like to me it's a question of "when" not "if".

That's not surprising. Everyone knows it's unconstitutional to ban marijuana.Reader Responses:

I can't speed legally, but I still do it. Yes, and just like with pot, plenty of Dems were on the wrong side of those things as well.Plenty of politicians opposed allowing black people to vote and ending prohibition. Doesn't really mean that are even within a football field of being right.Anywho, love the schtick that it's only those "mouth breathers" who oppose it, when the reality is plenty of the "critical thinking" politicians are opposed as well.Well, I'm white anyway. How does it feel to be on the losing side? It's just like things were in the days before they ended prohibition or gave black people the right to vote. The fat rich grey haired white guy way of thinking is about to lose out to reason and enlightenment.Otis said:At this point any politician who wants to keep pot illegal is just mindlessly following a party line or has such screwed up judgment and analytical ability (probably crazy social conservative views too) that there's no way I could vote for them.![]()
But if feels like the winning side.
This.So sick of drinking a few nights a week to take the edge off from a rough day.
But I refuse to risk my career by buying pot. I wish they'd just make it legal. I'd happily replace alcohol with a small joint 2-3 times a week.
