The 100 Greatest movies of the 1970s. 1. The Godfather (1 Viewer)

Just answer one question first.

Where would you rank Raiders of the Lost Ark?
I think the ranking of IJ and the Temple of Doom is the big tell.
As long as he doesn't rank Jedi above Empire I'm in.
Is Jedi the one with little annoying furry little creatures all over the place, where the emperor looks and sounds like Truman Capote, and ends with the ghost of Darth Vader waving happily to Luke?

No fear

If you have to ask this, I question your ability to rank 80s movies.

The 80s was a special decade. There are movies made in the 80s :kicksrock:, and then there are 80s movies :pickle:

So question: should I work on one of these for the 80s? Does anyone want to read that? Or skip it?
The 80s are most of ours demographic sweet spot.... So definitely.

My prediction - pain.
This will be entertaining.
I figure the top 5 will be something like Mystic Pizza, The River, Gandhi, Chariots of Fire, and Tootsie
So Tootsie and some also-rans. Got it.

Better Off Dead should be above at least 2 of those!

Fast Times at Ridgemont High is my 80s version of Smokey and the Bandit. So funny and Phoebe Cates might have been the first boobs I saw on screen .... made this 11 year old drool, amongst other things.

List is missing the crucial element of Merchant-Ivory

Should make a Top 100 - although I haven’t mapped out 100 movies so we’ll see Tim’s work on it (one way or the other.)

Then where do Yentl, Amadeus, and The Big Chill fit in?

More importantly, how about Major League?

Burn on, big river, burn on

All I know is, if Bull Durham doesn't make this list, I will delete all of Tim's posts and threads.

No fear, The Battle for Endor is #1?
