My roommate in college, and I had a lil inside thing with Newts line there......good stuffMostly.
Well I have to say that some of these would have no chance with me, like Police Academy, Highlander (Suzy a terrible film!) Major League, a few others. Blood Simple is an excellent film and was on my short list.Tim, there's some flicks on your list I need to revisit, or see for the first time. Here's some that would make my 80's list
Gremlins
Vacation
Christmas Vacation
The Outsiders
Weird Science
A Nightmare on Elm Street
The Lost Boys
The Burbs
Coming to America
Caveman
Strange Brew
Conan the Barbarian
Pale Rider
The Man from Snowy River
Hellraiser
Hellbound: Hellraiser II
Childs Play
Heartbreak Ridge
Major League
Big trouble in Little China
Police Academy
Blood Simple
Revenge of the Nerds
Highlander
Evil Dead 2
No Major League should be punishable by law. I would say the same about Coming To America, Vacation, Christmas Vacation and The Lost Boys.Tim, there's some flicks on your list I need to revisit, or see for the first time. Here's some that would make my 80's list

But we had Hannah and Her Sisters!!!
Now it's my turn but I'll be less verbose...Big Trouble in Little China should have been on it. A timeless classic.
I am more with you on this one. It is also one I didn't watch until about a decade ago, and I am not the biggest fan of Russell outside The Thing. Now it's my turn but I'll be less verbose...Big Trouble in Little China should have been on it. A timeless classic.
That movie suuuuccked. I didn't make it even half way through. And I like both Carpenter and Russell.
That seems like being contrarian just to be contrarian.None of the Stars Wars movies should touch a list like this. I share Bill Burr's take that you probably had to see those films as a kid, but I didn't see them until I was an adult and, like Burr, was like, "okay, next."
A bunch of glaring omissions. Too many to list them all.
Still a fun follow.
OkNone of the Stars Wars movies should touch a list like this
You fargin' icehole!Which reminds me... Johnny Dangerously
That's up there for best movie of the decade for me. I'm refraining fronm more comments here in hopes it makes @John Maddens Lunchbox list, in which case I'll say more there. To Live and Die in L.A. is another omission.
And to stay with Michael Keaton, Night Shift.Which reminds me... Johnny Dangerously
Why did your parents do that to you?None of the Stars Wars movies should touch a list like this. I share Bill Burr's take that you probably had to see those films as a kid, but I didn't see them until I was an adult and, like Burr, was like, "okay, next."

One of my favorite scenes in movie history:Anyone mention Visionquest?
This could have replaced another Kurt Russell movie on Tim's list - The Best Of Times. I remember seeing that one in the theater and being very disappointed. I tried watching again recently because it had Robin Williams and Russell in it, so it must be good. Wrong, it's a turd.Big Trouble in Little China should have been on it. A timeless classic.

I was joking - it was also on cable TV and broadcast TV if you missed it n the movies. No Blockbuster near you?It wasn't easily accessibleWhy did your parents do that to you?None of the Stars Wars movies should touch a list like this. look Andy, I respect you but you are out of your freaking mindLeave ROTJ off such a list? Sure. But not ESB.
I especially love the sick burn on Joel Schumacher.Do yourselves a favor and watch Siskel and Ebert just eviscerate and poop all over St. Elmo's Fire. This is *chef's kiss*
Might have to fast forward a few minutes.

Bro. To say Empire Strikes Back isn't one of the best movies of the 80s is flat ridiculous.look Andy, I respect you but you are out of your freaking mindLeave ROTJ off such a list? Sure. But not ESB.
Oh. I like it more than most. Defended it even. But I can see some justification for it not cracking a top 100.oh no no, I was objecting to leaving ROTJ off. I feel like most of this site doesn't like ROTJ. Makes me think of that How I meet your Mother episode.
It was OK. Nothing that special. I liked Trading Places and Midnight Run a lot more but neither made the cut.@timschochet what are your thoughts on Coming to America?
I had a teddy bear as a kid named Jack. Jack was horrified by the Ewoks and went into hiding for a long time, lest someone confuse him with those horrid creatures. I can’t dishonor Jack’s memory by having that picture anywhere near my list.oh no no, I was objecting to leaving ROTJ off.
Bet Jar Jar was really traumatising.I had a teddy bear as a kid named Jack. Jack was horrified by the Ewoks and went into hiding for a long time, lest someone confuse him with those horrid creatures. The US theatrical version made no sense. It was cut and organised incompetentlyHighlander is not good.Highlander terrible???
