OC McDaniels and Rams all but done (1 Viewer)

So which of the guys listed above gets traded first? Bets?Sjax maybe...
He's not the head coach anymore. Guy is a fantastic coordinator... he will get another head coaching job somewhere down the road.
I don't doubt he will get a HC job down the line, but I think it will be through working up from a OC gig with the same team. He needs to earn respect first instead of just commanding it due to his job title, and working up from a OC to HC in the same franchise is the way to do it.

very interesting. Hope he like Danario
And Julio Jones, and hopefully one nice wr f/a.
Great news for Bradford owners/fans
exciting news! he'll help develop Bradford into a top QB in no time! not sure it helps Sjax, though..McDaniels has a nasty habit of utilizing a heavy , and almost never uses one RB all the time..probably makes Amendola Wes Welker Lite...
McDaniels drafted Moreno to be his bell-cow but he ended up injured more often than not. With the Pats there wasn't an RB on the roster sans Corey Dillon that was worthy of a full time gig. Dillon was great in 2004 but the redux version was only adequate; Maroney rarely showed anything but when he did towards the tail end of 2007 they used him well enough; after that it was RBBC out of necessity.

The St. Louis Rams are seeking permission from the Minnesota Vikings to speak with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell about their offensive coordinator position, according to ESPN

While former Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels was the leading candidate as the next offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams, a significant snag in negotiations has led the team to broaden its search to include coaches with West Coast-system roots in which quarterback Sam Bradford excelled during his rookie season, according to sources.

The Rams went through league channels Tuesday morning to request interviews with coaches including Bill Musgrave of the Falcons and Darrell Bevell of the Vikings. Musgrave is the assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach in Atlanta and Bevell has been in limbo as the offensive coordinator in Minnesota.

The Rams were denied permission to speak with Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, who is under contract through 2011.

Bevell, whose status in Minnesota is in limbo while coach Leslie Frazier looks at offensive coordinator candidates, is interviewing Tuesday for the Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach job, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is looking to replace quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch, who is leaving the team to become offensive coordinator at the University of Miami.

Musgrave is scheduled to interview with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday and Vikings on Wednesday for the offensive coordinator position. Bevell is still a candidate to retain the job in Minnesota.

McDaniels appeared poised to replace Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who was hired as the Browns' new head coach. However, more than two days of talks did not produce a deal between the Rams and McDaniels, a surprising development that may have been derailed by the team's conservative fiscal approach, one source said. The talks could be revived but neither side appears optimistic.

McDaniels also is in conversation with other unidentified teams, according to another source.

The Falcons value Musgrave and view him as the potential successor to offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, who is considered a future head-coaching candidate. However, a team source said Falcons coach Mike Smith reluctantly granted permission for Musgrave to interview with the Browns and Vikings, although there was no guarantee Musgrave would accept those jobs even if offered a promotion.

The Rams, however, hold an attraction to quality coordinator candidates because of Bradford, who is expected to be named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Man, as a Bradford owner, I really hope this happens... Not looking good though.

And yes, to the previous poster, the Broncos are still paying him--as of now, they are paying 3 head coaches, so to speak. I had assumed they would try to recoup some if not all of what he is owed by trying to prove they fired him for cause (spygate 2), but I haven't heard anything about that.

Seahawks | Talking with Josh McDaniels Tue Jan 18, 03:48 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have been talking with former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels since Monday, Jan. 17, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter

time to update the thread title TIA!!!

From @mortreport: Filed by myself and @AdamSchefter to ESPN: McDaniels to Rams as offensive coordinator is now a done deal.

as a dynasty owner of Sam Bradford and Danario Alexander, I must say that I'm very excited about Josh McDaniel as Rams' offense coordinator.

Barring the NFL lockout, it is not conceivable that Bradford would end up as top 10 QB ranking list by 2012.

Not happy about this at all. Maybe the playcalling in the season finale got to Spagnola too much, I have no idea why it seemed dumbed down and light on SJax. Obviously personnel will be a huge factor into things but right now, with the way teams were playing this season, I see no reason why the Rams won't be the heavy favorite for the division. I thought we caught a break when the Rams took Bradford over Suh but I'm not sure now that it was a break at all.

 Time to hit the reboot button.

b2h, change title please

This is all well and good but it's still about them getting Bradford some WRs and adding linemen to make sure this is a top offense for a long time. Last year has to be just a stepping stone.

While the Rams certainly need a massive talent upgrade at WR, keep in mind that McDaniels engineering a Denver offense that made Brandon "OMG THAT ALMOST HIT ME" Lloyd and Jabar Gaffney look like quality NFL starters.

Yeah, this crossed my mind as well. Danario and Avery could end up surprising. Or maybe Amendola. Or Gibson. Or Robinson.

McDaniels has always said that it takes a QB 2 years in his system to perform at a high level. Don't be surprised if Bradford has a sophomore slump.

They don't need a massive upgrade, they just need a true #1. They have several #2's and #3's in Avery, Alexander, Amendola and Gibson and Clayton wants to resign. They lack a true #1

McDaniels will take the training wheels off Bradford. He runs 3 wr, 1 te and 1 rb sets. If the Rams draft Julio, Bradford is going to have a monster year.

wr1 - Julio

wr2 - avery/alexander/clayton

wr3 (slot) Amendola / gibson

Lots of options
