***OFFICIAL 2006 WORLD SERIES Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I'm getting so sick of substandard teams winning championships.

Miami Heat '06 - Basically one awesome player and some amazing work by the refs.

Pittsburgh '06 - a lame QB, overweight RB, a miracle run, and some amazing work by the refs.

St. Louis '06 - arguably one of the worst baseball teams of all-time to win a championship.

I don't know what's going on with the playoff systems, but something needs to be done.

I'm starting to think College football has it right because only premium teams are allowed to play in the BCS and the chances that a top flight team who's likely undefeated will win the whole thing is excellent.

I'm just getting really frustrated with watching lousy sports lately... I thought these baseball playoffs were terrible overall. The NBA playoffs were exciting until the finals almost ruined me on NBA basketball.

And the NFL playoffs this season were about as bad as it gets....

:disgruntled: Is it too much to ask two dominant teams to clash together in an epic series, where the best team on paper ends up winning?

Maybe if these two dominant teams were good enough to dominate in the postseason, then maybe you would see that epic series. :PAnd after seeing the Cardinals finish with the best record in '04 and '05 and then come up short in the playoffs, I am not about to apologize for the '06 Cardinals winning it all, despite their less-than-impressive regular season record. :D

Tell the dominant teams to stop choking. It's not like somebody handpicked the Cardinals and the Tigers for this... they had to beat the Yankees and the Mets to get here. And in case you missed all that, those were much better series than the WS itself... so maybe if you want a little more excitement you should start paying attention when then the playoffs start. The Steelers suck and are boring? Their playoff game against the Colts was a classic. There's nothing wrong with the system. LOL @ "College football has it right"

I know people blast the BCS and the polls and stuff.. but honestly.. the college football team that wins the national championship is WITHOUT a doubt one of the top 2-3 teams in the country.Tennis usually has it right, best player usually wins.. I like that.. even if it is boring to most people.Usually in the NFL that happens also. And honestly the NBA usually makes that happen too.But college basketball (and I love the NCAA tourney) but frequently they have a undeserving champion because ONE game elimination in a sport like basketball allows for too much variance.Baseball has too much variance overall, but words can't express to me how much the 5 game set in round 1 blows. I think i'd rather see baseball goto 9 or 11 game series in the LCS and WS.I'm sick of my ffl playoff system where I have the best team many times, but in one week ffl is so random. The WSOP or any poker tourney for that matter is not crowning the best poker player.83-78.. that is so horriffic words can't even express it.I'm pretty sure 9.9/10 non St. Louis fans think the cardinals are NOT the best team in baseball.

If the Cardinals were so horrific, then why couldn't the Padres, Mets, or Tigers beat them? Also, anyone who knows anything knows the Cardinals were a better team than their record showed this year. They had injuries all over the place the whole season, but when they were finally mostly healthy (in October), we saw what they were capable of. Frankly, I do not really care if they were the best team or not. They won the World Series, and that is all that matters.

Doctor Detroit - please update thread title. :)
I think he's on a plane headed for Detroit.
On his way to Walmart to pickup his SECOND PLACE sweatshirt.WAY TO GO CARDS 2006 CHAMPS :banned:
:bye: Tori Hunter. How many playoff games did the Twins win? :lmao: I liked you better when every one of your posts included a Brokeback Mountain reference because your one friend thought it was funny. Then we didn't see you for months.

that is kind of funny dr. detroit was flying over here to go to game 6. :lmao: :own3d:

I'm pretty sure Gopeher State and Green 94 are the same person:They both post a lot of :bye: :bye: :bye: , they are barely literate, and they both like homosexual humor. Although I thought Green 94 was actually a White Sox fan, now I'm fairly sure he is a closet __________ and likely either Gopher State's lover or alter ego. Doesn't matter neither the Sox or Twins won a playoff game this year. Not one. :bye:

This has nothing to do with being bitter guy. We heard it all season from these two. Thanks for keeping an interest in all the rivalries though. Notice I don't butt into your battles with harrrrrrrr. :bye:

I can't believe the Cards actually won the Series! I am still numb. Unfortunately, I had to work last night, but did get to see parts of the game, including the last out. I was really hung over as well, so I plan on starting my celebrating in the next hour or so. :banned: :banned: :banned:

Congrats to the Tigers fans a great season!! Too bad they kind of slumped this week, but the Cards' pitchers were hot all month.

 Enjoy the ride. Cards beat three teams most people didn't think they could beat so they really deserved it. Tigers made too many errors but it all boiled down to not hitting. Whether that was because of the Cards pitching or just bad hitting or the layoff is up for debate. Cards won and derserved it. Glad to see the fans enjoying it.

DD in a couple weeks we will get over the WS letdown and realize what a truely remarkable season this was for the Tigers.
