***Official*** 2007 Chicago Cubs thread! (1 Viewer)

:goodposting:

4 1/2 back.

They are turning up the heat on the brew crew.

Lets keeps things rolling in Pittsburgh.

Thank you Nationals. In seven games, you basically won 5 for us, losing the three to the Cubs and then beating teh Brewers twice. Kudos!

All in all, a great spot for the Cubbies at the break. What do you think? 3 weeks or so before the Cubs and Brewers are tied for the lead? Even in losses, the Cubs are playing well right now. Granted, every now and then their offense is crap. But they're playing like a real baseball team.

The should be playing like a real baseball team with the money they spend. The Brewers have to do everything right all the time, and hope that something comes together for one year to make one run. A team like the Cubs can make mistake after mistake and just buy their way out. There is no excuse for the Cubs to or anyone in the division besides maybe Pittsburgh, to be behind Milwaukee.

OK. Thanks for weighing in. :goodposting: I agree and as a Cubs fan, don't you think I've heard it all before? The Cubs for years spent like a small-market team and it pissed me off. Recently, however, they have spent, but not well. Now, I'm hoping they finally figured it all out. I don't know what you mean by mistake after mistake. They made their mistakes and paid for them. The Brewers brass is obviously making the right moves and I envy that. Seriuosly, if the Brewers should be in second to last place because of the money they spend, let's just hand all future titles to whoever spends the most money. Then we won't have to play the games. It's an old argument. And to be honest, in years when the Cubs don't make a run, I really do root for the small-market teams. Just don't know what you want from the comment. Are you upset the Cubs are coming up on your team? (just assuming Milwaukee's your team; if not, then sorry ... and why make taht comment??) Sympathy? Nah. I think as Cubs fans, we save our sympathy for ourselves for the time when, once again, the run falls short. :hot:

Geovany Soto has been promoted to the Cubs. Felix Pie was optioned to Iowa. Now we have three catchers. WTF ?

Even though Pie didn't play much, the Cubs have had a good record when he's been up. Coincidence ? maybe, maybe not.

I enjoyed his defense and enthusiasm. I'm looking forward to more playing time for Jaque. :club:

Let's get the second half started off the right foot tomorrow.

Agree with your sentiments. According to this article, the Cubbies needed another right handed bat in the lineup and Soto's been lighting it up this season (.341 BA). He's catching Zambrano today so we'll see what he brings. I can't imagine that we'd carry 3 catchers for very long though.

Cubs win, Cubs Win, I'ts a nice way to start off the second half. Zambrano was nails again today. Got plenty of help from the Astros "D" or lack thereof.

Tough match up tomorrow against Oswalt.

Brewers lose !! Way to go Rockies. That makes it 3.5, and the noose tightens ever so slightly tighter.

:(

What the hell is a tough matchup? The Cubs don't know that phrase right now. ;) Go Rockies!

This sucks. I'm counting on LaTroy Freaking Hawkins to shut down the middle of the Brewers lineup in the 9th. Great.Edit to add: Blind squirrel finds acorn. Hawkins gets out of the inning. And HERE COMES TURNBOW!

Final edit: Still the same old LaTroy I remember. Thanks for nothing.

 SSSWWWEEEEEEPPP !!!

They got off to a rough start, but fought hard in the comeback win.

Great, great relief pitching today. If was certainly needed.

Marmol is a beast  . Got a nice relaxing ninth from Howry.

Hopefully they can keep it up tomorrow while I'm in attendance.

:bag: :excited:

Agreed, a very big come-from-behind win. But Marquis better get his act together. I'm a big fan. BUt right now, he's detrimental. Nonetheless, a big win to keep the pressure on the Brewers. :)

Beautiful 3-2 win over the Giants. The hit-and-run in the 8th was perfect. And the bullpen has been nails.

Great night at the ballpark tonight. A buddy and his boy took me and one of my sons to the game tonight.

It was a great night for baseball, good seats and a Cub win. what more could you want ?

With four kids I don't get to go to the games very often. In fact I think it's been a few years.

It was a great night. The only lowlight was the ####### bleacher bums throwing trash on the field. WTF is the sense?

I've never understood that. :moneybag:

But, the Cubs continue to roll :pickle: a fun night indeed.

Starting to look like a magical season.

Yes the bleacher creatures tossing garbage on the field is lame. This is going to keep coming back. At least wait until that tool Bonds gets out there....

Another big win today. :ptts: Bonds damn near killed us, but in the end it's a win.

I'll take win's any way I can get them.

I'll leave it up to the rest of you to see that the hot streak continues, as I'm off for the weekend.

Go Cubs Go

Might be time to never let Ohman pitch again.
Well, not quite. The guy's gotten some big outs for us.But today, man, I don't care if Bonds gets 6 home runs, as long as the CUbbies win.Just keep up with the Brewers until either A: They stumble. or B: We get them head-to-head. That's the plan now.

Can we smell what the cubs are cooking? Im thinking cubs pick up a proven lefty at the deadline. unless eyre turns it around in the next few weeks :goodposting: ..marte from the pirates would be nice.

Excellent win today. Good starting pitching, timely 2-out hits (trade Jacque who?), a star coming through for HUGE insurance and the bullpen closing the door. :lmao:

2 1/2 back and a chance today to win another series. Also, let's hope S.F. takes 3 of 4 and we get within 1 1/2. If not, gaining a game over the weekend will be enough.

:goodposting:

Marquis pitched well Friday, but he is historically a good first half pitcher and a mediocre second half pitcher, so don't be surprised if outings like the one he had Friday are fleeting.
Starting to look like a magical season.
Only a Cubs fan would say that about a team a mere 5 games over .500. :lmao:

So my status as a Cubs fan makes me worry about this series. So far, so good, though.
Why? Your not going to pull a Limp Ditka are you? What Status are you talking about?
:goodposting: Huh? No, I'm a Cubs fan. Always will be. My status=Cubs fan. I meant, being a Cubs fan, there's always the worry that this is the series that leads to the team's downfall.
I know how you feel then.
