***Official*** 2007 Chicago Cubs thread! (1 Viewer)

You two knuckleheads quit arguing and bask in the Cub Victory / Brewer Loss combo tonight!
I'm not one of the two "knuckleheads" you're talking about, but I sure as hell willbask in the "double victory" tonight. :own3d: Things are looking good. Let's keep it that way.Tonight was a nice simple win, and we got the main pen members some rest.

If Ike says to stop fighting, then I have nothing to do but stop fighting.
:lmao: Milwaukee with another loss today...COME ON CUBS!
A late inning choke job indeed. The noose around the necks of the brew crew is damn close to suffocation tightness. :lmao: Come on Cubs, let's not f-up the chance to creep within 1 game tonight. With a Cub win and a Padre loss we can be in the lead (or tied) as far as the wild card is concerned.Lets take care of the business at hand tonight Cubs !!

So on a more positive note, Kerry Wood is looking good in his rehab starts. Pitched one inning tonight in Peoria -- struck out two and gave up one hit. His fastball was clocked around 93-94. He's supposed to pitch tomorrow also making it two games in a row. Poor guy's been through a lot the last year so let's keep our fingers crossed!

You know what? I'm not that disappointed. Pick up a game every series? I'll take that any day. But Ike's right, though. I think we forget that, you know, other teams can win as well. :blackdot:

Anyway, tough loss today. Offense has to get more consistent. But it's good to know we're a good team that will be in the race until season's end.

I hope so anyway. They are getting their ### handed to them again tonight. That would make 4 out of 6 on the down side if they can't turn it around in the next couple of innings.

Damn. Great rally but still drop it in the end. These Reds look like they might want a hand in the race even if it doesn't involve them. We better find out how to beat them. Still 11 games left with them.

Thank You REDBIRDS

Brewers lose game 1 in the ninth.

Leading at one time 6-0.

Now damnit Cubs, lets get a W

Zambrano = :mellow:

The Brewers blow another five run lead and lose.

It's down to a mere 1/2 game back. :bag: :pickle:

Things are looking very good.

:hifive: 's all the way around.

Now the bad news, It's a tough tough week ahead.

Phillies for four and the Mets for three.

a 4-3 record would not be bad.

Slow down everybody. The Brewers are back home now, where they are very very tough.

I like the Cubs against the Phils today though.

The Cubs are only, what, 4 years removed from their last division title, so it is not like winning the Central would be some earth-shattering event. Let us know when they win or even make the World Series. :goodposting:

Having said all of that, I think the Cubs will win the division this year, and this comes from a Cardinals fan.

Let me get this straight, so no one is allowed to enjoy the baseball season until they win the world series ? That's the only time one can post on the message board ? WTF is the the basball forum for ?We are enjoying the season so far, who knows what the rest of the season brings. We'll enjoy it while we can.If you didn't want to read it, you shouldn't have opened up the Cub thread. :P

Let's cease any hostility toward Ghost Rider. His team did help us out this weekend. Thanks GR!

Hopefully Rowand has a few more of those HR's in his bat once he gets a fat FA contract this offseason from the Cubs.

I don't see any way he's not patroling CF for the Cubs next season.

I'm a little bit  today, but I don't think anyone was beating Hamels last night. Just an incredible performance that I have to tip my hat to.

He made us look like little leaguers. I won't tip the hat though. I'm that bitter. :hophead: Hitters made absolutely no adjustments to the changeup.

Their best pitcher had his best stuff last night. I don't feel bad about that loss at all.

Way to bounce right back and get game two of the series.

Marmol is almost unhittable. The kid is freaking money.

:lmao:

 :)

It took a while and a couple of missteps. But we're finally where we thought we'd be ... about four months ago. :D

Three out of four against the Phils would be a great show. When they lost the first game of the series, I seriously was thinking 'ok, now they play a good division and they're going to get tanked.' But not yet.

Can't win them all, I guess. Still a split with the Phils sets us up. Now two of three from the Mets and we have a great showing against two teams in contention.

All in all, not bad. It would have been nice to win today though. Just couldn't get enough clutch hits.Any Cub fans here worried about Jacque in CF ? He has misjudged (or lost) three fly balls in the last three games, all three IMO were catchable. That has got to stop. I'm worried every time a ball is hit his way now.I must say his bat has a little something in it lately though. Although I'd like to see some occasional power.Let's see if we can take two from the Mets. One is an absolute must.

The Cubs of the last few years would've folded after they were down 7-1. It was nice to see them at least make a game of it. Ohman looked horrible though -- I actually was hoping Piniella would take him out right before he gave up the big hit. It will be good to get Kerry Wood back. Also, did anyone find out about Cliff Floyd? Don't know if he was just taken out for defensive purposes, but the announcers made it seem like he might have hurt himself trying to leg out a grounder.

Not real happy with Lou keeping Jones in to face the lefty late in the game.

HOW THE HELL IS IT OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD EXCEPT THE CUBS THAT THIS GUY CAN'T HIT LEFTIES?

Damn, 11 freaking walks for the Cubs today. Zambrano had a rough one . It seems his emotions were a tad to high today. Brenly even pointed it out the telecast. Keep it somewhat under control Carlos.

They hung tough for eight innings but in the end the walks came back to bite them in the ###.

Lilly had best be on tomorrow.

Kerry Wood to see action sometime in the next inning or so.

:excited:

:excited: ?
