Yes...NON-QB.I have to believe this will be much more than a backup QB signing. As of game 6, you know Vick will be in the offense somehow (non-QB)...right??
Rumor on EMB that talk in Denver of Kolb and picks for Scheffler. I can only pray.I doubt anyone will believe this, but as soon as Goodell re-instated Vick, I told my wife I would hate to bring him here with the history/2 years out of the game etc, but if McNabb went down again, and if it was either Kolb or Vick, I choose Vick. Easily.

I believe he said "he'll be fine in a few days".Andy said Celek hurt his "AC joint" in the presser but didn't elaborate. I can only assume we'll know more tomorrow after they get him an MRI.I'm not Celek's biggest fan, but without him we HAVE to trade/sign someone else.
Jason,Sorry to be off the Vick topic, but do you know any details about the birds hiring Greg Lloyd as a linebackers coach? McNabb is a good guy, Philly you don't deserve him. Good interview.
Why the hate for Philly in the Official Eagles Thread? Not sure I see why Denver would do something like that. True, but its not like Kolb is any better. Kolb likely would be the #3 in Denver just like he likely would be in Philly.Throwing in a play maker like Scheffler would be crazy for Denver. Its wishful thinking for Eagles fans(I'd love to see it) but I can't imagine its a real possibility.Ummm, Kyle Orton is their QB. The O-Line was missing Herremans and both Andrews brothers. I wouldn't worry too much about that unless their injuries carry into the season. Also the D-Line was missing Cole who is probably our best pass rusher. Another don't worry about it til game 1 for me IMO.The only troubling thing was that the starting O-line struggled a bit in pass protection. Some of that looked like rust and trust issues, which makes sense given how little that particular group has worked together, and the fact that 2 or 3 of them are backups. They looked solid in run blocking. The Defense didn't get much efective pressure on Brady, but the DT's were particularly stout in the run game.
That's funny - probably wishful thinking on my part...I thought he said, "we'll know more in a few days."I believe he said "he'll be fine in a few days".Andy said Celek hurt his "AC joint" in the presser but didn't elaborate. Come on man, we need you on here. You are the only guy the posts something and you can count on it being accurate.I may change my mind later, but this is likely the last time I'll comment on the Eagles fr a long, long time (2 years to be exact). I simply can't root for a team that has Michael Vick on it. Period. Most of you know my favorite team is Chicago anyway, but I also like Philly as well due to the home town connection and my buddy working for them, but this will be hard none the less. It's not just the dog fighting thing, I just have always had a healthy hate for Vick going back to his college days. He's absurdly over-rated and he's shoved down our throats constantly. Yeah, a lot of players are, but whatever.Lastly, I think this will be a TO-like disaster for he Eagles. The media will eat him (and the organization) alive, one bad game and 50% of the mouthbreathers will be calling for Vick to replace Donovan, and ,well, Vick just isn't worth the headache.
I agree. Why unnecessarily introduce this kind of drama to your team? I could understand TO's addition because he was an All Pro at a position of need. They took the chance and it paid off in some respects and then backfired down the road. But why add this mess of a situation to the franchise? What exactly will he add that will compensate for the distraction?I may change my mind later, but this is likely the last time I'll comment on the Eagles fr a long, long time (2 years to be exact). Thats the question that kept me up last night. Why?#1 - They no longer have faith in Kolb as this years #2 #2 - The Eagles have been horrible in the red zone and having someone like Vick on the team hopefully fixes this major problem by using the a hybrid of the wildcat or many other formations.#3 - They seem him as a possible replacement for McNabbI agree. #4 - In another year, if Vick establishes himself as being reformed, the bad press dies down, and he shows he can still play...how much could Vick fetch in a trade to another team?Thats the question that kept me up last night. These, IMO. I am not happy with this but I will admit that it is intriguing to have Mcnabb, Westy, McCoy, Weaver (might be my new favorite Eagle), Desean, Maclin and Vick all on the field at the same time. I can see this as ending up one of two ways: being a collossal blunder that the city doesn't live down for decades, or being the sharkiest move in an already shark offseason and being the last missing piece to make us a legitimate SB contender. On another note, I thought McCoy looked very strong (I hope they stop playing him otherwise I'll have to reach too far to get him in any of my leagues.), Weaver is going to be embraced in this town, he's a hard hitting, hard running do it all guy with a great attitude. If not for the Vick signing I would have predicted his jersey to be #1 seller this year. The Buckley dude looked like a man amongst boys (granted he was going against 3rd stringers) but he caught the ball well and ran with ferocity ala MBIII. Even has the dreads.#4 - In another year, if Vick establishes himself as being reformed, the bad press dies down, and he shows he can still play...how much could Vick fetch in a trade to another team?Thats the question that kept me up last night. He's saying he lobbied hard to bring him to Philly.I wonder if McNabb was given the heads up before the game tonight....if not, I can smell some displeasure.
Reid was asked at the presser whether they would keep 4 QBs, and he said he would not rule it out. He also said Vick is a QB. But I agree -- I don't think they would have done this had they been more confident that Kolb could be a viable #2 this year. So I think option 1 is closest to the truth. What I wanna know is, can Vick play TE or RT?So, Sal Pal on ESPN commented he was at the Eagles facility in advance of the Vick presser, talking to Eagles players this morning. Reportedly, AJ Feeley was told by Reid "You're fine." With means, IMO, one of the following things. 1) Kolb injured more badly than being let out, and the Eagles needed another QB. (Vick is/was the best option at QB3)2) Kolb being traded/released (VERY doubtful)3) Vick not going to be listed at QBOf course, this is all premised on the assumption they will not keep 4 QB's. No reason to think they would, giben the talent on the roster and the teams needs.

The reason is actually pretty interesting (per a report on the NFLN). Vick is in bankruptcy court and he was offered 1.6 million from the UFL. The courts would have an issue with Vick taking a job with a lesser salary (the vet league minimum in the NFL), thus the Eagles had to match the offer from the UFL.dhockster said:So if the Eagles signed Vick for one year at $1.6 million, and he is suspended for the first six games, does that mean that they only pay him $1,000,000 this year? Just curious, because I heard someone speculating that they weren't sure why the Eagles gave Vick such a big amount when his minimum, based on experience, would have been $600,000.
If he doesn't get paid for games he is suspended, then the Eagles are only on the hook for $1 million, correct?
Peace out Hermit, your information especially during draft weekend was comical at best, the topic you started this thread on was ridicolous in and of itself. The guy payed his debt to society mandated by the federal government. He doesn't have a right to play football again? How is he overrated? Everyone who follows football knows what he is. The guy is coming in here as a specialist. We've had an over the hill Brett Farve shoved down our throats for 5 years now. This won't be a TO like disaster. Michael Vick stays quiet, he's not going to be doing situps in the driveway, and mouthing off every week. It's a business Hermit, sorry you don't get it. Andy and Donovan made it clear Vick is a QB; he'll be listed as such. And realistically he's the QB2 as soon as he gets in shape and the playbook down. Kolb may well be hurt more than we realize, but I also think this is a recognition that the team has a small window and Kolb stepping in for Donovan would not have gotten it done. Regardless of what happens to Kolb this year, I think this clearly sends the message that Kevin Kolb is NOT Donovan McNabb's heir apparent. If we're replacing '5' in a season or two, it'll be a rookie or someone in free agency not currently on the roster IMHO.Mighty Mice said:So, Sal Pal on ESPN commented he was at the Eagles facility in advance of the Vick presser, talking to Eagles players this morning. OK, that stops now. Deranged Hermit has been an invaluable member of the Shark Pool and the Eagles community and just because his opinion on this signing doesn't jive with you own doesn't warrant that kind of dismissal. Who are you to tell him where he can and can't go? Unacceptable. You can by all means express why you disagree with his stance on this (I do too) but the personal attacks, particularly for someone who so clearly has earned his stripes around here, just won't fly.Peace out Hermit, your information especially during draft weekend was comical at best, the topic you started this thread on was ridicolous in and of itself. Agreed, he is a QB and likely the QB2 soon enough. If Sal is accurate, and Feely is "fine" and needs not worry about his roster spot, then they are either #1 or #2 above...or keeping 4 QBs. I do not foresee 4 QBs. Unless they do (initially) stash him away at another position. Personally, I believe #1 a near certainty. No you don't get it. So because he's not happy with the signinig (which he has every right to feel by the way) I need to be told he's not going to give us ay scoop (which wasn't very accurate as of late i.e 2009 Draft) any more or that the team I love isn't worth of his time or support? People are making it out like he didn't serve any time for this. I'm literally watching Vick now with TONY DUNGY to his right, and apparently the Humane Society of Philadelphia is behind it. If your morales don't line up with a man who committed a terrible act and payed his dues and is looking for a second chance, then yeah good riddance Jason I'm sorry. He makes our team better. No actually I completely get it. At the end of the day its going to be fans who don't think people deserve a second change and people who think they do. That's fine I understand some people like yourself are upset by it. But when the season starts and this team is rolling, should we give those people who bailed on the Birds a second chance when they want to follow the team again? How do you know he's rotten to the core??? Explain this to me, when Tony Dungy has been his mentor the past year. The man served 18 months in prison for the crime he committed. Lastly, if you don't think the NFL is a business at the end of the day, then yeah I don't know what to say to you. From what I know about him, life in Newport News VA, wasn't exactly an environment that allowed for people to thrive, be that as it may Waters, you have every right to your opinion. In looking at your profile name, why aren't you outraged by the way the Eagles and the NFL more importantly treat players that had the same condition as him? The guy was so messed up from multiple concussions he blew his brains out. Or do you not know what he went through? I'm with you DH. I am absolutely sickened by this move. Why wont they trade for a #1 WR? Instead they trade 50% of their fan base for a controversial QB who, lets be honest, never was that great when he was in his prime? Our family has already pulled all Eagles gear from our store. Instead we are asking for donations to the Philly SPCA.It was bad enough that our business stands to lose tens of thousands on his signing, it's even more of a kick in the gut that my home team had to be the one to do this.I guess i get to play golf on sundays in the fall now since i have little to no interest in supporting a team who signed this guyDeranged Hermit said:I may change my mind later, but this is likely the last time I'll comment on the Eagles fr a long, long time (2 years to be exact). Thanks for that Jason.....Andy and Donovan made it clear Vick is a QB; he'll be listed as such. WTF?!? I did everything but give you Maclin's name before the draft. In fact, if you check, people openly questioned me when I said they were looking to trade up to get a WR (I even took him for the Eagles in the last Shark Pool draft). I also told you about the Jason Peters negoiations two weeks before the trade happened happened.Just because that blockbuster trade with the Browns didn't happen or they didn't get Boldin, doesn't mean I was wrong. I reported what was known at the time.So because he's not happy with the signinig (which he has every right to feel by the way) I need to be told he's not going to give us ay scoop (which wasn't very accurate as of late i.e 2009 Draft) any more or that the team I love isn't worth of his time or support? People are making it out like he didn't serve any time for this. I'm literally watching Vick now with TONY DUNGY to his right, and apparently the Humane Society of Philadelphia is behind it. If your morales don't line up with a man who committed a terrible act and payed his dues and is looking for a second chance, then yeah good riddance Jason I'm sorry. He makes our team better. To compare Michael Vick to T.O. is RIDICILOUS. Dante Stallworth killed a man drunk and got THIRTY days. Give me a break. What about Kobe Bryant or what about Andy Reids son for that matter.Andy and Donovan made it clear Vick is a QB; he'll be listed as such. You do realize that's impossible, right? Unless one of them lines up at Gaurd or tackle?unckeyherb said:These, IMO. #2 - The Eagles have been horrible in the red zone and having someone like Vick on the team hopefully fixes this major problem by using the a hybrid of the wildcat or many other formations.
#3 - They seem him as a possible replacement for McNabb
Than this on 4/19 (two weeks prior to the draft):I am hearing from my buddy though that there's at least a 50/50 chance that the Eagles land Peters. An offer is on the table, but would not be finished until draft day. Right now the sticking point is the Eagles refusal to add a second pick to the deal.
If I remember correctly, the Eagles took Maclin in the 1st (a WR) and McCoy in the 2nd (a *gasp* RB). This info was contrary to EVERY report that was swearing up and down the Eagles were going RB in the 1st.Like I said, the Browns trade didn't go down. Sue me.....Talked to my buddy and here is what I was able to find out:* Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the Eagles ain't getting Boldin. He says it seems as if ARI doesn't want to trade him in the NFC.* 1st round pick looks to be either a DE, WR or CB. There is one DE they really like that they think they can get. There is also a WR they really like as well. The mention of WR really surprised me. They will not take a RB in the 1st unless things really change in the next few days. * 2nd round looks to be a RB or CB. After that, obviously things can change depending on who drops.
Thanks for the info, but the Peter/Eagles rumors were already swirling. From 4/8: http://www.reclinergm.com/eagles-rumors-oc...eters-interest/Just to toot my horn a little more, I posted this on 4/14 (the trade went down a week later):

That's fine Deranged, as I remember you had the Boldin deal signed sealed and delviered. It's not about you bro, Truth be told I don't want to pick a fight with you, you have every right to your opinion. I've brought the point of giving a person who spent two years in jail a chance at turning his life around and the posters on this board want no part of it - fine, what can I tell you. Tell that to TOny Dungy and Andy Reid I've also brought up two specific points today and in the past as to how the NFL could give a crap about their fan base and the players that are in it for that matter and all I ever get is ignored on this board. Meanwhile you have fans who think thier allegiance is a birth right and their true fans and the owners should do what the fans say i.e. give Dawkins a ridicolously high contract at 35 years old. Its utter nonsense to me, this is a business BOTTOM LINE - The second you are no longer an asset to the team it's over for you. Michael VIck is here because they think he makes the team better. Andre Waters literally was so messed up that he killed himself, countless players are left crippled from this league and this league can care less about them. Fans just making it by these days are asked to pony up thousasnds upon thousands of dollars for the simple right to purchase nosebleed season tickets via a PSL yet Michael Vick outrages you?I don't get it guys - this is my last post anyway so enjoy playing golf on Sundays. I'll be watching #7 in the wildcat making D coordinators crap themselvesJust to toot my horn a little more, I posted this on 4/14 (the trade went down a week later):
