***Official 2011 Philadelphia Eagles Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Now if they go with Asante and Nnamdi outside playing 1v1 and then use DRC on a slot receiver, they have the best of all worlds.
Bingo. Look at the receivers we have to face; and the state of the league in general. Having 3 premier CBs makes you the envy of the NFL. It would be IDIOTIC to trade Samuel, imo.

Wow! I think the Eagles have to be the favorite to represent the NFC.

Either way I'm thinking this will be an outstanding team to watch this season.

The Eagles have really struggled of late to get off of the field on 3rd down and stop the good passing teams. Dallas with Witten/Austin/Bryant. The Giants with SSmith/Manningham/Boss (yes, Boss). Green Bay. Teams that can force nickel defense and convert on third and long are tough to beat.So now how do you do it? Get 3 strong corners and try and come up with a better pass rush. If Babin steps up on the other side of Trent Cole then yes, they are quite a defense now. Juan Castillo might look like a very good DC in a very short time.
Yes this is a passing league and it is a great move and I applaud the Eagles for the moves so far this off-season. But they still need help on defenseRemember the Packers ran all over the Eagles with Starks in the playoff game. They still can't stop the run. Plus who are the linebackers on this team?? Casey Mathews is our starting MLB? Need to get a run stopping DT.
Your run defense suffers when you have to drop lb into coverage. If your backfield is good enough, your run defense gets a whole lot better. These acquisitions are all about beating Rodgers. Perhaps this is why the Pack has shown more interest in resigning Jones. I think you still have to give the Pack the lead in the NFC, but the Eagles have shown they have to be talked about as legitimate contenders to go to the Superbowl. This rivals when the Pack got Reggie and Dotson completely transforming the Packers D. FF wise, I think you also have to boost the Eagles offense by at least five touchdowns - better field position because of your D leads to more scoring.

Eagles already are referring to themselves as "The Dream Team".

Doesn't bother me as much as those idiots that continue to call themselves "America's Team"

from what i've seen, Vince Young is the only one to suggest this, and my guess is Young is happy to be anywhere.and i wonder who is more upset with this, Sean McDermott or Quinton Mikhell?

Former Packers DT Cullen Jenkins reached agreement with the Eagles on a five year, $25 million deal.

Former Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins reached agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a five-year, $25 million deal, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The 30-year-old Jenkins had a career-best seven sacks last season and has 29 in his career.

Jenkins completed his seventh season with the Packers in 2010. He missed five games, including the last four of the regular season, with a calf injury before returning to play well in the playoffs as Green Bay won the Super Bowl.

The 6-foot-3, 292-pound defensive end was undrafted in 2003 and signed with the Packers in 2004. Kris Jenkins, formerly of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, is his brother.

Information from The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I hope the hits keep coming and Asante stays in town. Would love to know what else is brewing.

Fans of other teams have to be getting pissed.
I know I am. Nasty team they put together there in Philly.-Cowboys fan

The Eagles are definitely the undisputed winners of this offseason so far. Time will tell if they live up to the hype that will certainly surround them now. The craziest part is that they also have a future pick out of it from Ari. They've done very well.

WOW! With the 2 new D-Lineman and 2 new CBs they added in the last few days...plus drafting a S in the 2nd round and a new MLB in the 4th...this will be an almost entirely new D.

The Eagles look like a "win now" mentality has taken hold. Eagles and Phils are making me happy with these aggressive moves.

WOW! This is even more shocking than Nnamdi. At least with Asomugha we were thought to be an obvious suitor, but the lack of chatter kind of got us thinking otherwise. I never heard us rumored to be in on Jenkins. WOW!

Eagles going for it. LOVING IT!

Eagles definitely going all in.

With all the signings, I have to start thinking that we are getting closer to being over the cap and we still haven't extended Desean. It's really pushing me to think we are going to trade Asante away.

NFL Network is now speculating that the Eagles are leading the way for signing Plaxico Burress.

Can we all agree that this has A LOT to do with Michael Vick - the best recruiting tool of all. Pretty much every player loves him now even more than before...

Adam Schefter reporting: Eagles trade DT Bunkley to Cleveland for 5th round pick in 2012 and agreed to terms with LB Akeem Jordan on a one-year deal.

Bunkley traded to Cleveland for a 5. Kind of felt that one coming.

Jordan resigned too...1 year deal.

I dont have the cap numbers in front of me, but I Have to think Hanson and Bunkley might be expendable now. Between cutting those two and extending Vick (which would bring his cap number down from $16 mil) they should still get DeSean done without trading Samuel.Unless Banner has been bodysnatched, I just can't see him letting this team get into cap hell.ETA: wrote before Bunkley trade

From what I read the Cullen Jenkins deal can end up being a 1 year, 4M deal if the Eagles cut him after the 2011 season, so it's a low risk signing on their part. Also, at the presser announcing the Jenkins signing when asked if the Eagles had more money to spend on players, Joe Banner said "Hell yeah".

Schefter said that we had a lot of cap credits from last season that gave us more cap room this season. He didn't get into roughly how much but it looks to be helping.

:excited: I love one week of free agent trading. This has been the most exciting week of football that I can remember!!! :banned:

Absolutely loving all the moves over the last couple of days. They have to translate this to post-season success however. In AR we trust! (for 2011 at least).

Again, better win it all. Otherwise, you'll just be the NFL version of the Miami Heat.

Or the Washington Redskins. Take your pick.

You went to far with the Redskins comment lolAll you can do is put your team in the best possible situation and they seem to be doing that. Super Bowl is always the goal.

The difference between the Eagles spending money and the Redskins spending money is that we actually have good coaches who can take advantage of the talent the money was spent on.

If the wins don't come, just don't be like the losers in Austin and go on and on about how much talent your team has.

Austin? How 2008 of you.

Pulled this off of Bleeding Green Nation

Bunkley trade saves 1,926,720

Weaver cut saves 2,000,000

Parker cut saves 3,500.000

Hanson cut saves 870,000

Rounding up that’s – 8,400,000

If these numbers are right and all of these moves were to happen plus a Vick extension, that gives the Eagles plenty of cheese to work with if they so choose

One thing you can say about Mike Vick, He is a real leader compared to McNabb. People want to come here because of him. Regardless of what your opinion of him is, you can't deny his affect.

Oh Arlington, no matter I'll never set foot in that dive.

@sportsguy33: Vegas just announced it will no longer take Eagles Super Bowl bets, saying, "We don't accept action on sure things. Sorry."

Now every team that lost out on a CB is now getting ready to aquire Asante...

For his price this year and DRC's I can't see Asante going anywhere.
