What on earth? I follow this only the lightest of casually, and I don't understand this at all. Is this punishment for Renfroe and the vaccination/testing hubbub? Sure looks like it.

Very possible. Then they'd get all these confused looks in the media. Baseball writers aren't as sharp as I remember them being back in 2000, even. Once everybody was up to speed on advanced stats they got immediately less intelligent all over again. Or has everything everywhere just changed and we've all become less intelligent?
