***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

2nd game in a row the Wild dominate the 1st but don't put a team away and end up needing a late goal to win it.

Koivu really heating up, top line has been great. Coyle being back on that line and healthy is really key.

Harding's insane numbers continue, though he really only had to make a couple tough stops last night. quality chances given up continue to be at a minimum. Wheeler was the only guy really generating anything, had a couple nice chances.

Granlund is getting so good defensively I don't see how he wouldn't get to Sochi. continues to get better every game, guy is really rounding into form.

Spurgeon/Scandella pairing is becoming really solid. both playing very well, particularly Spurgeon. guy is really underrated.

Dumba looked alot more comfortable last night. having the junior decision out of his mind probably helps, but he was still a bit shaky last game. with Ballard healthy the group as a whole feels pretty deep and competent. don't really feel like there is a weakness with whoever is in there between Stoner, Dumba, Prosser, and Ballard.

4 road games and then the schedule starts to get more difficult.

2nd in the Central!

will be interesting to see if Bryzgalov does any better than Dubnyk. I'd guess no. Dubnyk really had his isses to start the year and still has had some trouble tracking longer shots, but games like Saturday night where he basically wins if for them by keeping them in it until their offense wakes up is what he's been able to do the past couple years. he makes alot of big stops and has the ability to win a game, not sure Bryzgalov will be able to do that behind that breakdown prone group. I think their issues start well before goaltending and it's all through the lineup, not just on defense.

So the Hawks get absolutely destroyed by the Preds but lose Hossa (scratched due to a lower body injury) and the Bulin wall threw out a hip or ripped his groin out and had to be helped off the ice. Tonight's game against the Sharks should be interesting. :oldunsure:
Back on track.
The Hawks definitely played a much better game last night. Saad was again very good and so was Piri. Rozsival had a really nice bounce back game, and made some great plays. Looking forward to the Circus trip, the team typically starts to gel really well on this trip.

Caps got out to the early lead led by Ovie and his 2 goals and were up 4-1 by mid 2nd and then relied on Holtby to do the rest and he didn't let them down.

They are now on top of the Southeast errrr I mean the Metro division now 1 point ahead of the flightless fowl with them coming into town Wed.

John Carlson has really stepped his play up since the start of Nov. and is fast becoming what many thought he could be when he was drafted.5 goals,2 assists and a +6 for the month with increased minutes now with Green down are just what this team needed so I hope he continues this trend going forward.

Holtby has been a beast and last night was no exception. The Blues were all over him and he stood tall and made sure the game never got closer.

Still a ton of holes on this team defensively and with 5 on 5 play but some improvement is starting to show so I'm optimistic they will at least be competing for a good playoff position in the East(which really looks weak).

Rangers had close to 6 straight minutes of PP time with a minute of it being 5-3 and couldnt score. PP has looked a lot better but that was brutal

If playoffs started today, only 1 of 7 Canadian teams would be playing. 3 are practically eliminated already - I give Vancouver an outside shot still in the west. Ottawa and Montreal still alive only due to the overall weakness of the East.

Oh (no) Canada :wall:

I hope so. But I won't be seeing many of them

pretty sure it's still November, guy

So, are the Pens the only Eastern team that can consistently beat Western teams?
Might want to slow down there, if I recall the Penguins never won a single game against Western Conference teams last year.
They beat the Western Conference for 3 Stanley cups, including your Blackhawks for one, that's all that matters!
Lol, missed my joke and went straight for the killshot.
I got it. I chuckled.

Wild got dominated last night. awful game, worst effort of the year. I'd expect to see them sign a goalie in the next couple days to replace Backstrom, Kuemper is a mess.

Canucks fans seranading Tim Thomas ... :whoosh:
"I have been pumping his tires ever since the series started. I haven't heard one nice thing he had to say about me."
I could see booing him mercilessly, but he had 8GA/7G in the Finals two years ago and hoisted the Cup and the Conn Smythe right in front of them the last time he played at Rogers.

Serenading/taunting him just seemed a little out of place.

Why? Because he's had great success against the Canucks? That's all the more reason to taunt him more. Kipprusoff used to get taunted a lot in Vancouver back in the mid '00s when he was really good. Once he started sucking the taunts pretty well stopped completely; taunting loses its appeal when the player sucks.

No other way to put it except the Caps got dominated by the Pens last night.

When you can't generate any offense 5 on 5 and your ST's don't bail you out this is the result.

Simply put they #### all over the ice last night and it smelled terrible.

Is it weird? When the Penguins come to town, is it not way more appealing to taunt Crosby and Malkin instead of guys like Beau Bennett and Joe Vitale?
tough to taunt a goalie when he's shutting your team out. as soon as he gives up a soft goal or two though, the chants help the fans rub it in.

I guess what you're saying makes sense that the best players get most of the attention, but I think of that as the fans trying to get those players off their games. Not sure if that's the same as taunting or not, unless you wait for them to make a mistake and then start taunting them/ripping them for it.

I love this post

Canucks are weird. That's the best time to taunt. How do you taunt someone who is better than you?

Ask Filthadelphia how Crosby plays when he is taunted.

That's pretty much all the Thomas seranading/taunting was.
