***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Tremendous ceremony for #5, what a great pro and one of the best to ever play along the blueline. Probably an even nicer guy.

They have him in the booth and asked him the toughest forwards to play again, he said Bure and Jagr but the toughest was Mario.

What a fantastic win by the Avalanche. They played the crappiest game they have played all season against a Wings team that was playing their system to perfection and they come away with the win. Big difference in that system when they clog the boards/passing lanes they usually have Datsyuk or Zetterberg to pick up the loose pucks. Avalanche couldn't string passes together at all and just turned it over to the wings all game long. A gritty win like this is fantastic to see even though I was #####ing at the TV all night - my wife was complaining about me being mr negative and then she was #####ing at the TV before long. And MacKinnon keeps his point streak alive with a great look off and pass to setup the game winner - loving this kid. 51 points on the season so far.

Want to say that it's tough to spoil a big night for Nicklas Lidstrom - really one of the great players in the history of hockey. Gave the Avalanche his best every time they played and it was a pleasure to watch him play.

And this Central Division race is sick - I can't believe this Avalanche team is in the thick of it with less than 20 games left. Blues in Denver on Saturday afternoon - should be a good one.

Go Avs, win the Central! Don't pass Anaheim though.

The long wait will be over very soon for Kuznetsov as his contract was terminated by his KHL team and he is now awaiting his visa to travel to Washington.Reports are saying in the next few days or so and he is expected to sign a two-year entry-level deal with an annual maximum base salary of $900,000 so they would just need to send down another player(Chris Brown I assume)to make room for him under the cap.

His biggest questions are his health issues, his lack of D and can he produce at this level.Skill level is very good though with great hands and creativity and has a decent shot.Problem now is where does he fit in?

I would suspect the 2nd line will be his home and if Grabo were healthy this would be the most logical spot for him to stick in the near future.

With all the hype he has gotten from the fan base and press he will have a very hard time living up to expectations IMO.

The GMGM quote of the year

“We play a system where teams get probably more shots the way we play but most of them are from the outside, we’ll allow those. In some ways that might be better for this particular goaltender.”
McPhail :lmao:

No,sir, you play a system that blows.
Holtby with 42 saves on 44 shots in a shutout loss. Yep, goaltending is the problem with this team.

So disheartening. Looks like a team making a beeline for the first tee.

I don't know, Rud. I think the Buffalo Snowbirds need to pick up their game at filling the Panthers arena.

Lot of empty seats, even for Sunrise.

Carolina's power play is absolutely disgusting. The opponent possesses the puck more than they do. Getting shots off is unthinkable, and even setting up is a longshot.

Koivu dive, Ducks PP, terrible call especially when the Pens got a diving call earlier in the game.

Did most of you guys play hockey in high school and/or college? I missed out.... really didn't appreciate the sport until my early 20s.
