His value sucks bc only a small number of teams need a goalie.

But he's playing great just like the last Olympic year and he'll be a steal for some team.

Not buying the team cancer talk.

I don't think that's true because there's no job openings in LA. He's going to start so his options are limited. Who wouldn't want to live near their wife soon after getting married though?

He's not forcing a trade or anything.

Rud you are one of the few opinions that hold weight in this thread but you might be the only one in the hockey world that doesn't think he's a cancer. That being said a change of scenery makes him a Vez threat if not winner.

Miller can be a great goalie but his value is very much tied to his perceived attitude: which sucks. Ever since he got married, he's been looked at as a McCabe or Pronger in that his wife wants to dictate where he (plays) earns his living.
This is a perfect representation of an asset being only as valuable as what someone will pay.

Toronto media feeding you guys misinformation.

His trade value is low because of his age, contract, and the fact he hasn't played that great for most of the past two years. I'd be shocked if GMs were worried about his character. He's very competitive like all great goalies and that leads to him saying some things he shouldn't when he's pissed.

Fact is goalies don't fetch a lot in trades these days. Not much anyone can do to change that.

Tend to agree that Miller's value is low because of age/contract more than anything else. People will overlook other perceived issues if the age/contract are right (look at Seguin, Carter, Richards, etc... trades). There isn't a lot of value for 33 year olds in the walk year of their contract, regardless of position.

Schnieder was traded for 9th overall. Bernier was dealt for a 2nd, Frattin & Scrivens, so you can get good value for a goalie, just a young, cost-controlled one.

Caps look like #### last night. They can't put more than 2 passes together, almost always turn the puck over in their own zone and can't generate anything 5 on 5 but yet Oates is being stubborn by not changing up the lines. His only tinkering has been in the D pairings and even that has been minimal or forced because of injury.

I am liking what I'm seeing from Nate Schmidt/Oleksy pairing.Once Schmidt gets over being new to the NHL he will do fine.He seems calm and cool with the puck and has good offensive awareness so I would like to see Oates pair him with Carlson in the near future and let him get more minutes and also let him take more chances.

not sure if this is any more reliable than a rumor from JetMan, but here goes:

APCould the Sabres and Oilers be on the verge of a major trade?

Well, you didn’t hear that from us. But you did hear it from Buffalo News columnist Bucky Gleason:

And just so you know, there was talk Wednesday afternoon that the Sabres were working on a deal with Edmonton that would send Ryan Miller or Thomas Vanek and possibly both to the Oilers in a package that would bring Nail Yakupov and more to Buffalo. Whether it actually happens is another story. But as it stood Wednesday, the two sides had considered, or were considering, a major swap.

Miller is in the final year of his contract. The Oilers wouldn’t make the deal unless they could convince him to sign a contract extension. Edmonton is a great hockey town. The Oilers are on the rise. They could be a goaltender away from getting back into contention.

If you’re skeptical, don’t worry, you’re not alone. Especially about the potential for Miller to sign a contract extension with the Oilers when he could become an unrestricted free agent this summer. There’s always a knee-jerk negative reaction to the suggestion a star player — especially a non-Canadian one — would choose to live in Edmonton.

Oh, and FYI:

Nick Kypreos @RealKyper

Note with trade talk, #Sabres Ryan Miller does have a limited no trade clause and #Oilers are one of the teams on his no trade list.

At the very least, it’s a fun rumor.

If any Rangers, Devils or Islander fans are looking for tickets to the Yankee stadium game, I just got an email with bleacher seats for $149 and then it goes up from there.

Let me know if you are interested and Ill pass the code on to you

Timmy T with his first game against the Bruins tonight in Sunrise, Fla.

It would be great if Clode punked the whole world and started Chad Johnson instead of Tuukka.

I worry about Nash though :(
I have a feeling the back half of Rick Nash's career may be ugly. His size, style of play, everything reminds me so much of Dany Heatley.
Nash can actually skate though, give him that.

speaking of which, Heatley is so done if the first handful of games are any indication. guy is now a shell of the shell of his former self. it's getting embarrassing at this point. he was still a useful player last year. that has changed drastically.

What's the worst rink to watch a game on TV? Panther's gotta be up there somewhere.... The camera angle is so low that it forces the camera to jitter constantly. Maybe it's just for the visitors, but it's awful. Any others that are just terrible?

It's official. Christo's a convert. Going with Hawks/Blues tonight over Miami/UNC and Seahawks/Cardinals.

Go Hawks! Beat the Blues! It's payback time.

Kronwall down after a vicious check from Cody McLeod - McCloud had him really lined up to keep going around on the boards but Kronwall changed position and turned back into McLeod and Kronwall lowered his head - McLeod blew him up.

One of my least favorites as wellEdit: now that I think about it, Florida is easily the worst. Can't think of any that bad.

I like how the idiot Av's announcer said, "you talk about getting a little of your own medicine." What a doosh.

The hit was illegal, but I don't think he meant it to happen that way. Wings win 4-2 and Kronwall is going to continue to travel with the team, so hopefully that means he's ok.

Flyers (lack of) scoring is so bad that when the Pens went up 2-0, it almost felt like they were running it up.

Better take away those keys to the draft picks from Homer.
I'm almost certain that he wouldn't trade away our first rounder when we're hosting. Right?? How soon until the first trade? I'm thinking something big(see stupid) happens by Sunday.

Can't see the Oilers dealing Yak for two vets in their final contract year before they become UFAs. They have long coveted Vanek, but he doesn't supply the grit their lineup lacks. Can't really see Buffalo trading Miller so early in the season. I think his value has to go up as we near the trade deadline and teams decide they are a contender that just needs a goalie to bring the Cup home.

It's a made up story as far as I know. Is there any reputable source putting their name to that story? I'm not in the locker room or super connected but I know enough people to feel like if it were true, I'd have heard about it.

Sabres are 200/1 to win the Cup, btw. Good times.

If a Pens dman makes team USA it shouldn't be Brooks Orpik. If 2 Pens defenseman make team USA neither should be Orpik. He's out of position way to much 5 on 5. He's just not as good as some people think in his own zone.

The rookie dman Maatta gets his first NHL goal. Pens mgmt gonna have a decision to make on him once his 9 games are up. Back to London or keep him here. He's looked really solid but I'm guessing they send him back. They're trying Engelland at wing so maybe Maatta stays.

Talk radio in TO has made a point of this over the last little while. No offense to the people you know but I will take the word of the people who talk hockey 24/7.
My GB is the main beat reporter for the team at the Buffalo News. I'll trust a guy in the room everyday over the Toronto knobs trying to get on HNIC or whatever. Talking hockey a lot doesn't make them more informed. Media loves to sensationalize things.Regardless, believe what you want. I'm just not buying it.not a big deal either way. Team is being torn down and rebuilt so my expectations are lower than ever but I think they are doing the right thing.
