It's a made up story as far as I know. Is there any reputable source putting their name to that story? I'm not in the locker room or super connected but I know enough people to feel like if it were true, I'd have heard about it.

Sabres are 200/1 to win the Cup, btw. Good times.
Talk radio in TO has made a point of this over the last little while. No offense to the people you know but I will take the word of the people who talk hockey 24/7.
My GB is the main beat reporter for the team at the Buffalo News. I'll trust a guy in the room everyday over the Toronto knobs trying to get on HNIC or whatever. Talking hockey a lot doesn't make them more informed. Media loves to sensationalize things.
That's fair. I'll stick to guys in TO who break every story/trade/transaction that happens in hockey before it becomes mainstream. Not trying to one up you but our guys have proven their worth.
LeBrun and Friedman are the only TO hockey media guys who's opinion is worth anything and half the time they're full ,of SH**

Yep. According to everyone in Toronto, they're the capital of the hockey world. They just completely suck year in/year out. Witness last night--Leafs were dominated by the Hawks.

Hard to imagine throwing Erat on a line where he gets more minutes and plays with better skilled players he would actually get a few points in a game but it happened.

Wonder why it took Oates so long to figure this out?

The line of Erat/Laich/Brouwer were easily the best line on the ice.New D pairings were Schmidt/Green,Alzner/Carlson and Urbom/Oleksy.I'm liking Schmidt more and more as he gets comfortable and Oleksy made a Green-like curl and drag to setup a goal that was sweet,he also fought Dubinsky and is fast becoming a huge fan favorite.

Lol @ random people in Toronto calling into Toronto talk radio and breaking any hockey story or trade whatsoever.

I can't remember a time when the Hawks have looked so inept in the 3rd period. It's mind boggling. So far this year they have allowed 12 goals in the 3rd period while only scoring 3.

man is it frustrating to watch the Wild have to eek out a 2-0 (with ENG) win in yet another dominant game. they don't give up anything 5 on 5 this year because they simply have the puck the whole game. Nashville hade nothing last night, very few quality scoring chances, yet they're one shot away in the dying minuets. need more 2nd chances, need more traffic in front, need more garbage goals. has to open up at some point, getting ridiculous.

Brodin took a puck in the face and didn't return. hopefully there are no broken bones, that would be devastating to have him out a while. would possibly keep Dumba up this year if it's serious.

they have to bury Heatley in the minors when Coyle gets back in a week or two. can't keep him out there, especially over someone else. it's awful, guy is done. not even useful on the PP anymore.

not really tested much, but Harding has been rock solid. when he's had to make the big stop he has in previous games, one solid one on Nystrom last night on their only really good chance. this is what I expected from him last year which would have allowed them to let Backstrom walk, but MS is so unpredictable and he missed most of the year. Yeo will probably ride the hot hand all year without overworking either of them.

I will use this happy occasion to make my first post of the season in this thread.

 Mike Green got benched! Adam Oates opened his eyes and saw the garbage on the ice! Mike Green got benched!

I knew the Caps were going to win the shootout, because Holtby had already been playing all night long without any defense in front of him.

That was a very entertaining game if nothing else. The defense was laughable it was so bad and I think I lost count at how many odd man rushes they gave up the last 2 periods but somehow Holtby kept them in the game even after giving up 4 goals(you maybe could blame him on one but that would be a stretch).

Mike Green was a steaming pile of fresh #### on the ice and deserved what he got but it took Oates long enough to finally sit him(over 18 minutes of TOI).As I have been preaching for years this D is a mess and needs to be fixed but the depth(or lack of it)is a huge problem so guys like Green are forced into these minutes.

Glad they got the 2 points but that was brutal to watch from a defensive standpoint.

30 for 30 tonight on ESPN is about former Isles owner John Spano and how much he sucked.
Pretty cool

Couple things i found interesting . . .

Gretzky talking about how they walked past the Isles locker room after losing the Stanley Cup and commenting on how beat up & drained the Isles were.

Playoff beards stared with the Isles?

Millbury didn't get enough hate thrown at him - although the footage of him beating a Rangers fan with his own shoe was amusing.

Minnesota Wild ‏@mnwild

Jonas Brodin suffered broken cheekbone last night and is out indefinitely. Timetable for his return will be announced once it is determined

He was really playing well for them, tough break.

The Oilers have just steamrolled the Habs for the last period and change, I expect them to do more of that this year.
Edmonton looked horrible in the 1st period, but woke up for the last two periods. With the injury to Hall and Gagner not yet back to the lineup, they need a total effort from every player. Really liked the way Pitlick, Jones and Gordon looked last night. As Brasky said earlier in this thread, it was surprising to see Ryan Jones sent down to OKC after TC. He was playing with fire in his eyes last night.

What's the story on Arcobello?

Leading the league in assists right now (in a tie with Crosby, H.Sedin, and Thornton).

at least it's something he can play with...potentially. Dumba with a great opportunity here, and they need it with Ballard out too.

Arcobello has really benefited from Sam Gagner's absence. That and RNH not being available at the start of the season and Hall struggling when they tried to switch him to Center meant Arcobello was/is getting prime ice time. He is undersized at 5'9" and 165-170 lbs, but he has quite a bit of playmaking ability. He works his ### off and that makes him one of Eakins' favorites. To a lot of people's surprise he is continuing to have the same success in the NHL that he had last season in OKC.He is not strong in the faceoff circle, so it will be interesting what the Oilers do with him when Gagner returns to the lineup late this month/early next month. I can see him slipping down to the 3rd or 4th line and his numbers will probably drop when he's playing with less offensively talented line mates.

He is not strong in the faceoff circle
then how is he winning 54% of his draws? ranks 2nd best on the team behind Boyd Gordon right now.

RNH is winning 43% on almost as many.

Arcobello also has just 4 giveaways in 10 games (with 7 takeaways) and ranks 2nd among Oilers forwards with 22 hits (only 3 behind Mike Brown).

I'm shocked his faceoff numbers are that good. He hasn't looked good on face offs on this Eastern road trip and I think he went around 4/20 last night against MTL. I think he's one of the top +/- players on the Oilers, so obviously he isn't a defensive liability out there. I''m just interested to see how they use him once Gagner returns to the lineup. One of the local hockey writers had a story about Acton (the 4th line Center) being told to find himself a more permanent residence in Edmonton, the same has not happened to Arcobello. It would be a shame to see him head back to OKC because he has done everything they've asked of him and exceeded their expectations.

Who is the number 1 prospect coming out this year. Henrik out with an injury. Rangers might have a shot

Anyone else have NHL Gamecenter on your computer? I'm paid up and have been watching all season ... was just watching the first couple of minutes of the Sens-Wings game when it kicked me to the subscription screen, and keeps doing it whenever I sign in.

The bottom bowl at the Joe looks empty
Always does.
Just more than normal tonight.
Thanks for the update Titletown Tom. Red Wings had the 7th longest sellout streak in North American sports history with 452 from 1996-2007 (also the longest in NHL history), averaged 100% capacity last year, and have sold out every game this year.

When they come to DC to play your ####steak Capitals with your one Eastern Conference Finals banner in the rafters, there will be about 4k Red Wings fans to remind you how much you suck balls.
