***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Game was great last night. Absolute blizzard in the first. Unfortunately, my shoes and jeans got wet and it was a little cold in the third. Thankfully, I shot the lock off my wallet and bought Club seats so we could warm up in the intermissions.

I have a stalker. Someone came up to me in the first intermission and asked if I was at game 6 on the glass.
Right there with you chet, cold, wet, couldn't follow the puck.........absolute awesomeness.

Found the club level after the 2nd intermission. Warmed us right up

Vancouver's uniforms ...

They should keep them full-time.
Love the Whale colors for their others, though. Should just go back to the blue, white, green, and the stick.
My buddy and I always laugh picturing the late-night meeting in 1970 in a smoke-filled conference room when the Canucks were trying to come up with a logo. Men with loosened ties, frustration everywhere, empty bottles of whiskey on the table. Finally, one man stands up.

"I'VE GOT IT!!!.... It's a stick... inside of a rink!"

:tebow:

love that anthem
The Canadian National Anthem or Wake Up by Arcade Fire?
Same song.
Touche!

Didn't the Japandroids win the contest for Vancouver last year with "The House That Heaven Built" or something like that?
I think you're right. I have to admit I didn't know Japandroids were a Canadian band until recently. :bag: My next embarrassing admission...I'm not a big fan of their music. :bag:

Makes for a cool-### hat, though. My buddy always wears it. With a safety pin attached, no doubt.

Yeah, I think they're from Vancouver. They're not for everyone, even though the FFA voted Celebration Rock the top album of 2011.

But hey.

And now I've missed both Ottawa goals while typing. Good move on my part. Did Torts leap the bench yet?

The Japandroids are actually from Victoria, B.C.

I believe it was a search on "1973 Canucks".

Hawks trade Pirri to FLA for a 2014 3rd and 2016 5th.

Unbelievable to me how little they thought of him. He led the AHL in scoring.

It's not surprising, he is not good in his own end. Q's philosophy is D first so not shocking to me at all. It's why both he and Morin haven't been able to stick when called up.

Avs just scored on Power Play and each time they do someone wins an American Furniture Warehouse gift certificate - tonight's winner was Carl Spackler

Lightning blow another late in the third. What an insanely frustrating team they are.
I thought they played great for a back to back at altitude- they will be dangerous if they can get Stamkos back for a run - a couple of times they would have tied it up with him on the ice

Tonight is just another night where they gave up a goal to lose a point with under 4 left. Has to be the 5th or 6th time since the new year. It's just insane.

I think they'll be fine when Stamkos and Fillpula come back, but they've blown any room for error.

The Blues may never score again.
I tweeted that exact thing shortly after the Coyotes went up 2-0.

Terrible officiating in Phoenix tonight. Coyotes got absolutely screwed on the Blues 4th goal.
Yep, that was a bad non-call. But I'll take the win. ;)

And regarding the end of that game, it amazes me how dumb some players are. Down by 2, Phoenix had possession in the Blues end with around 20 seconds, and one of the Coyotes had a good angle for a shot, but he decides to pass back to the defenseman. Given that you need two goals in 20 seconds, how stupid is that? You throw that at the net and hope it goes in, that way you have some time left to tie it up. Passing back and hoping to create a play for the perfect shot pretty much robbed them of any chance of scoring twice.

That player must have been a sudden call-up or they lost some of his uniform.

Look at his gloves and then his jersey

Dmitry Orlov gets a phone call today on his dirty hit on Brayden Schenn.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waYZWi-Fkso

He deserves something but with the rematch set for Wednesday I kind of hope he doesn't. :boxing:
Left his feet and followed through with the forearm/elbow.

One thing he has going for him is that there was no serious injury.

Does he have "a record"?
I just don't know how that is any worse than Wilson's hit on Schenn earlier in the year. Not that this is a good hit but Wilson's hit could have ended a career or broke a neck.

Stepan or JT Miller and Hagelin for Kessler?

Would couver have any interest.

And what should the Rangers do with Talbot. He can not sit on the bench for next 7 years. What could he return in a deal
I'd be hesitant to give up Stepan for Kesler straight up. Their production over the last few years is pretty close, and Kesler is clearly on the downswing and a constant injury risk.

I googled Dmitry Orlov suspended and only came up with today's phone call. Doesn't seem like he's a repeat offender.

Lebrun is reporting that Callahan has moved off his 7 year demands, but is still at $6.5MM per. Rangers don't want to go above $6MM. I think that's still $500K too high and a year too long.

It's more likely he was granted 2 numbers for being such a badass, imo.

Well if the NHL doesn't suspend him Oates should for being a complete idiot.
Yea stupid, selfish play that cost your boys a point and helped us out a lot in the standings.
I don't see the Caps as any threat to make the playoffs to be honest.Just aren't good enough and lack discipline and it showed in the 3rd yesterday.

Thank goodness for STL, glad the Wild didn't deal for an expensive rental they don't need.

Big win last night, Couver lucky to get a point after one if the worst no goal calls you'll see all season.
thoughts on the Halak to Wild rumors?
Good chance they make a move since Backstrom is still having ab issues from offseason surgery and Harding may never play again. But bring anyone who will cost something significant and/or be given starts is foolish IMO. This is Kuemper's net. Kid is good and has all the confidence in the world right now. Not giving him the keys because he's young is a mistake IMO. Sink or swim with him, the experience will only make him better.
Just read Russo's column and he thinks the organization has little interest in Halak.
he's now saying there is a disagreement within the organization on their opinion of him. depends on who you talk to.

if he's cheap, probably not a bad deal since he's always been a goalie that plays best in a platoon situation anyway. still think it's foolish to be throwing any prospects like a Zucker at temporary depth though. Kuemper is both the long-term and current solution to starter.
