***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

The Pens have to lead the league in fewest seconds between scoring a goal and then allowing a goal. 1-1 against the Preds and Rinne had a sick save on Kunitz.

Florida gets Luongo as the face of the franchise, maybe they can sell an extra 2000 tickets for a few weeks and almost break even this year. Seems like building around Markstrom was the right idea but always waiting for something to happen never seems to work for them.

Interesting to see where Vanek goes, hopefully it is out west somewhere. Kings seem to be a perfect fit.
Anaheim dropped a lot of salary today, so they must be planning a run at Vanek, Moulson, Camellari(sp?), Kesler, etc.

As a Canes fans, this is the stats you get. We are 91.6% on the penalty kill..........5th best in the league....starting 1/23/2014

Anyone feel like watching the NHL is a letdown after watching int'l hockey?
Because teams don't have All Stars throughout the lineup? It's a letdown due to talent dropoff and the games right now mean a lot less. But I can't wait for the playoffs.
Russia, USA, Sweden, Finland..........did not have all star teams.
Close enough. Guys like Bobby Ryan and Victor Hedman didn't make the teams.

And many player that are not as good as them did.

Eddie Lack getting third straight start after Olympic break for Canucks. Anybody think there's a chance Luongo gets dealt? Maybe to Washington?
Looks like where this was smoke, there was fire. Only Luongo ended up in Florida, not Washington. Man, Gillis and Torts have really screwed up the Canucks. Can't say I hate to see it happen though. :lmao:

Mike Harrington @BNHarrington

Miller made 15 saves tonight for #STLBlues, second-fewest in a win in his career. He made 13 for #Sabres in 6-2 win vs. FLA on 3/31/10
You think Ryan Miller is going to enjoy playing in STL or what?
He looked like a different person in the post game interview on NBCSN
Just like with Bouwmeester last season, never underestimate the restorative powers that a player gets when he goes from cellar dweller to contender.

Another fun fact: Miller has faced 42 shots combined in his first two games with the Blues. He's faced 42 or more shots in a single game 8 times this season with Buffalo. Eight.

In what may be his last game in an Oilers uniform, Ales Hemsky scores two goals to lead the Oilers to a 3-2 victory over Ottawa.

Interesting because one of the teams supposedly interested in Hemsky is the Senators.

That Wings loss hurt, goal in the last minute or so to tie it or hand them a loss. Two years of this now, so frustrating.

Datsuk down again, first time I've ever worried about the playoff streak ending in the last 20+ years was tonight after the loss. They need another blueliner tomorrow.

TSN reported tonight, that the Kings have said the asking price for Vanek is too high, and are now looking hard at Moulson and Cammalleri

Torrey Mitchell reportedly asked for a trade then denies reports about it, but they have been backed up as reputable. I don't understand that at all unless he thinks he's a top 6 guy which that was pretty obvious he was never going to be here when he signed (nor should he be). mostly 4th line minutes but he's always had a clear spot and role in the lineup in the bottom 6 and chipping in a little on the PK.

didn't someone in the offseason thread this past year say that they thought the Canucks would go into rebuild this year? was it Rud maybe? I can't remember. Gillis essentially admitting they are "retooling" with recent moves and looking like Kesler could be next (if not today then by the draft) they are well on their way. at the time I didn't think this would be coming for at least a couple years. great call whoever that was.

I wonder if the Wild would make a run at Hemsky today. seems like the cheaper wing scoring upgrade they could use that they could potentially replace with Vanek in the offseason.

Stafford being rumored as a possible target because of several connections. would also add some size to the lineup which they probably want for the playoffs. another year left at $4MM hit, sacrifice speed, and hasn't been scoring for a while...ugh, pass please.

With so many teams in playoff contention it will be difficult to find partners who will overpay with players and the teams looking for playoff help need players not picks- only the bottom of the barrel teams are in that position. All the talk of guys like Kesler, Spezza and St Louis seem crazy given where the teams stand in the playoff race. Maybe it will be a lot of hot air today

What are we doing a Sioux reunion?

I think I've been saying they are a sinking ship for awhile. Had no prospects in the pipeline, and little depth, to support their aging stars.

would love to unload this guy

only if Toews comes too.
You can have TJ Oshie over our dead body.
sweet goal last night.

I hear Sabres fans are already ready to pack Stewart's bags.
after one game?

there's a lot of dumb people in this world

Would they have to give up a pick and say a Mitchell or Brodziak?

Would you rather have Brodziak or Stafford?

In a Sabres forum, posters seemed to think Stewart was trying not to get hurt Monday so he can be traded.

they would have to give up a pick with Mitchell...3rd or 2nd probably?

I would take Brodziak for Stafford actually. that's a nice improvement. both have a year left and I would much rather have Stafford, Brodziak has regressed so far.

well there you go.

I don't know if he's a solution or not. would be fine with flipping him, but he's talented and I trust Nolan to motivate him if he sticks around.

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Hearing Marty St. Louis to NYR has really ramped up and may be much closer to reality

@TSNBobMcKenzie

No official confirmations (yet) but hearing NYR are prepared to trade Callahan, plus 1st rd pick and 2nd rd pick for Marty St. Louis. Close.
@TSNBobMcKenzie

Assuming St. Louis deal is finalized, I believe Tampa is looking at Callahan as a rental. No appetite for 6 years or $6M per.

Mitchell went to my high school and I know his dad. I don't have any insight though. :bag:
