***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

You can't mock cheer an offensive player for taking a shot or whatever; the goalie is always easy pickings in those situations, just like some will boo just the QB when he and the whole team are playing poorly in football. It's just the way it goes.

Besides, nobody here in St. Louis cares what he did in Buffalo. And why should we? That does nothing for us. What matters is how he plays here, and he has not played well.

As for depth, it would be hard for any team to overcome losing 7 of your top 12 forwards at essentially the same time.
Again, so what?

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Alfredsson, Weiss, and Helm are six of the Wings top eight forwards. They have missed 212 games between them. Pittsburgh has played without Malkin, Neal, and Letang for large portions of the season.

You can't go eight or ten games averaging less than two goals a game. Plus the Blues aren't even that hurt, almost all these guys are expected back for the playoffs. Backes is just missing his third game, Berglund has missed one, Oshie two. What was the excuse last week? Or the week before? Or the week before that?
Their slide started eight days ago, so no excuse was needed the week before or the week before that or etc. This 6-game losing streak, unless they come back today, will have been over a 9-day span.

the team put 45 shots on John freaking Curry and came up with 2 goals.

Ty Rattie put up 29 goals in 69 games for the Wolves. He has about as much ice time tonight as Ryan Reaves. I don't think Hitchcock cares that much about helping out the offense. He's sticking with his formula.

Paarjavi has 6 minutes of ice time, btw. David Perron put up a pretty nice season for the Oilers. Weren't some Blues fans happy with that move at the time?
Rattie is also small and playing in his second career game. Pajaarvi just isn't that good. Not a fan of that trade at all. I wasn't really for or against it at the time because I assumed Roy and Pajaarvi might make up for Perron. I was wrong.
Perron was starting to become stagnant in STL, so I did agree he had to be moved. I didn't mind the deal at the time, but I guess in hindsight, it would have been nice to get more for him.

Flyers are gonna beat the Pens if they meet in the playoffs. Pens played good today. Most of them kept their cool, but right now it's the Flyers series to take if they play.
They won't see each other so no worries there.Pens and Flyers both headed for a first round exit.
:goodposting:

And this is from a Pens fan.
You guys have that little confidence in your squad? I hate the Pens more than anyone but they're not losing to the Jackets.
I don't know about the other "guys", just me. Terrible defense in front of the net, little scoring other than the first two lines, and the annual playoff performance of MAF that demonstrates why he would be a great GAP employee: he folds well.

Pretty cool link for Teemu's last regular season game.

Such a great guy. So many great memories on and off the ice. He always took time to sign and chat.

I have twins that turned 25 last month. Teemu took a picture with them in 1998 (when they were 9) that wound up being on the Ducks 5x8 postcard for the 1999 Season ticket holder party in 1999. Awesome family treasure and he signed two dozen copies for us.

I was hoping to see Detroit vs Pittsburgh in round 1. They'll probably get past Columbus and lose to the Rangers in round 2.

I could see Detroit and Montreal giving the Bs a tough series. I'm not sure Tampa can hang.

So who had money on Av's finishing #1 at the beginning of the season.

Thankfully they draw the wild, allowing them to potentially get Duchene back in round 2 if they don't fork it up.

I needed assists from Giroux and Voracek and no assists from Simmonds. It worked out OK so far.

Now, I need assists from Carkner, Landeskog and Karlsson. He has Crosby, Mackinnon and OEL. PLEASE SCRATCH Crosby!

With the 2 so far, I have a 2 assist lead. I need to win--can't tie.

Lucic and Krejci were scratched earlier today--that sucked.

I'm sure it's been done, but I've never seen it before...

Scott should not even be allowed on the ice. Glad he got the snot beat out of him.

Scott was sent out to goon by Nolan the day before and went after Lucic and hit him with a high stick. So, Chara game over and asked Scott if he wanted to dance, but Scott wimped out. After he got back from his 14 penalty minutes, he took a shift and ended up wiping out one of his own players because he is so uncoordinated.

:lmao:

Nolan doesn't ask Scott to goon it up. He can't even talk to anyone on the ice without getting a misconduct.

that guy on the Islanders was 33yo and playing the 2nd NHL game of his career.

Deslaurier threw some bombs in a later fight yesterday. Guy throws heavy punches.
