****Official 2014 Chicago Bears Thread **** (1 Viewer)

I really love both of these safeties and definitely think it was a bigger need. But I'll take help anywhere on D.

Donald only DT off the board in the first. Not much left at safety so maybe Nix or Jernigan could be available if we're lucky in the 2nd

I like the pick. We need someone with Jennings and Tillman in the 30s.

I really wanted Ha Ha for the name, but safety at 14 might have been a reach.

Let's hope we address the DL and land Hageman or Jernigan in the 2nd round.

This is a great pick. Emery said after the pick that 3 of the 6 picks the Bears wanted were available .... looks like Fuller was ahead of Pryor, Ha ha and maybe Dennard? I am guessing Donald was definitely one of the 6 and probably the pick if he had fallen one more pick. Emery also said that not all of the 6 he had for our pick were on D....wonder who he had on O.

Seeing how much Pryor and Haha fell, I am liking our pick even more. The Rams needed a S in the worst way and did not take either. Of course, my prediction that Emery will take a CB tomorrow or on Sat that can be converted to Safety is probably going to come true now. The depth at S is not very good in this draft now that Buchanon and Ward are gone.

The DTs left on the board are pretty good to get one in the 2nd or 3rd round now - Jernigan; Hageman; Nix; Quarles; Will Sutton; Daquan Jones; DeAndre Coleman; Ego Ferguson; Shamar Stephen etc

I can't nail down how I feel going into round 2. There are about 5 defensive lineman that all could have gone in round 1 still on the board. But will those 5 last 19 picks in? That I don't feel good about. I just hope Chicago gets aggressive and moves up if they really like someone.

Landing Nix, Hageman or Jernigan would absolutely make this draft for me.

I'm glad to hear we were willing to look at the Offense players in rd1. I hope Emery doesn't get gun shy if there is value on the offensive side sitting there in round 2.

There is no need to trade up in this draft......the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds is where we will get great value at the DB, DL and RB positions, all of which can help our team. I fully expect us to get a RB in one of these next 3 rounds given no RB is off the board yet and I do not see us extending Forte once his contract is up after 2 more years since he will hit 30.

Have a feeling Will Sutton is going to be the DT of choice. Can't remember where I saw there was interest in him.

I'd go crazy for Jernigan though.

I have mixed feelings about the pick. Fuller looks like a good player, but you still have holes at DT and safety. I think you can get a DT in the second or third round, but I don't know if you can get a safety. The safety class is not all that deep. The Bears have drafted umpteen safeties in the middle rounds in the last ten years and they all sucked. I was kind of excited about the Bears bucking that trend and getting an elite player at safety. And now you have Fuller coming in to play the nickel corner. Kind of hard to get excited about a first round pick on a nickel corner. I know that eventually he will be a starter, but this year, barring injury, he will be a nickel corner. I think, with Pryor and Clinton-Dix on the board, they probably should have taken a safety. Now I am concerned that we get to watch another year of Conte at safety. That would really stink.

I guess they drafted their board and had Fuller rated higher than Pryor or Clinton-Dix. We better hope Clinton-Dix isn't all that good because the Bears are going to see him twice a year now. At least the tape on Fuller is really good.

:goodposting: Twistd. You nailed exactly how I feel.

It's hard to be too down about it because Fuller is clearly a talent and you can never have too many good corners, but man the thought of suffering through another year of HORRID safety play is just bothering me. And as a big fan of both Dix and Pryor, I was real excited to finally get a stud back there. The fact that Dix went to GB was salt in the wounds. Guarantee he picks off Jay this year.

Tonight I'm thinking the 2nd rd will be an easy spot to grab some DT help, and in the 3rd maybe our backup rb.

2nd - Jernigan, Hageman, Sutton?

3rd - Sankey, Freeman, Carey?

ESPN Chicago hinted a few days ago that Kyle Fuller was the guy. He looks a little small but as long as he makes plays, cool with it.

If Jernigan goes, Quarles would be a solid DT choice.

Unless they start Fuller opposite Jennings, and put Tillman at safety. :deadhorse:

Tillman has said he won't play safety. Truth is they need a long term answer at safety. Tillman, even if he agreed to the change, isn't a long term answer at safety.

Any chance they look at a kid who played CB in college but they think they can convert to S long-term in one of these next rounds?

Otherwise, I agree, the focus should be D-line, and RB here in the next couple rounds.

If we can get Nix or Hageman in the second, I may weep. This draft is falling into place nicely for our needs. Lots of good DT left.

Sounds like the Jernigan drop is for obvious reasons...the failed test. The Hageman drop might be due to a lot of scouts thinking he's soft for his size, and maybe a bit lazy.

I'd rather get tuitt or nix. The bears need size. Actually going DT/DT in rounds 2 and 3 wouldn't be bad if they grab Will Sutton or jernigan in round 3.

The problem is none of the safeties were really elite this year....even Haha is very average at best. Pryor is more of a run stopper...we do not need that

Agreed and the bears can't fix everything in 1 offseason. The safeties will be better with the front 7 much improved.

I'm good with this, may have screamed when St Louis grabbed Donald, but I was never completely sold on the safety's that early and hopefully Fuller can be a serious player for us.

Now let's get on to day 2!
