Man these playoff games are ####ing awful. Can we just get like 7 more college games instead?
I don't get this sentiment. These playoff games mean something. Ten times more interesting than watching meaningless college games. I know, I know, the games mean something to the kids, and yes they are fun. But the NFL is bigtime and the only college game that will match it is the Notre Dame-Bama game.Playoffs are coming to college and when we eventually get an 8 team playoff, however, it will blow away the NFL playoffs because of the unique passion of college football. ESPECIALLY if they allow the first round to be played at team's home fields (as they should).
These playoff games are ####ing boring. I don't care how meaningful they are, they're uninteresting as ####.

There are a lot of defensive-minded and offensively challenged teams in it this year.RavensHoustonCincinnatiMinnesotaThis has made for some SEC-type football for sure. Plus the Packers mysteriously have lost their firepower as well.Getting the Broncos and Patriots in there next week will help. But in the NFL, defense wins.

The Clemson-LSU Chick Fil-A bowl and South Carolina-Michigan bowl was way more exciting and entertaining than anything I've seen from the NFL this weekend.

Houston is far from defensive minded. The offense has just come to a standstill with Schaub stinking up the joint the latter quarter of the season. Wade Philips and JJ Watt are making the headlines this year, but Kubiak is and always has been offensive minded and centered the team around that mentality. It's just recently that anyone's even considered the Texans' defense acceptable, let alone decent or better.

That's the thing. I want to be entertained by the game being played. I don't care if it's an NFL wildcard game or the Godaddy.com bowl. A boring game is a boring game whether it means something or not.

Exactly. I live in Tampa anyways. Not like any of these games mean #### to me. I just want to see good football. Sure haven't seen it yet. 4:00 game sounds decent.

Yeah..um...we were wrong. This godaddy bowl has been painful.

I love how the smash mouthed, grind it out football has become "SEC football". That brand of football is as boring today as when the B1G originated it with the "3 yards and a cloud of dust" style they were (still are??) mocked for.

I would never ask for 7 more go daddy bowls.

Whichever team you choose, Chip, choose wisely. Interest can be fleeting. Remember when Stoops was mentioned every year as the next CFB making the leap to the NFL? Seven openings this year and nary a word.
Apparently, he's choosing Oregon. I think it's smart.

Also, for tonight's game, the story's going to be in ND's front line. Not Te'o. I don't get the obsession with this guy if I'm being honest. Nix is what makes that defense go. When he's out of the game, it's a completely different story. Kelly desperately needs to close the gap between his starters on the defensive line and their backups. It's a major drop off when the subs come in. I suspect that it will be close through the first half...maybe half way through the 3rd quarter, but Alabama's depth will control ND. As long as Alabama doesn't do something stupid, they should be fine and get another "championship".

ETA: The only guy that would start for Alabama's offense and make a substantial contribution is Eifert. They keep him under wraps, they should be ok.

Aaron Murray returning to UGA for his final season. Huge news for Georgia!
With as bad as this QB class is, I'd think he'd come out as the best QB in the draft, no?
Dont know. Who comes out next year? Many Pro Scouts consider him to be too short to be a viable first round pick (though Ive heard others, such as Tony Dungy, who think hes the most NFL ready QB this year).Murray will break every meaningful SEC passing record if he returns and also has 10 of 11 starters coming back on offense - so clearly he feels like he still has a lot to play for. Schedule gets brutal with 4 top 10 teams in the first eight weeks of the season (including an out of conference trip to Clemson) but I think the team turned the corner this year (being so close to beating Bama in the SECCG) and he wants to give it one more shot. Defense loses a ton of talent though - Jarvis Jones, Ogletree, John Jenkins, Bacarri Rambo and a few more key contributors.

That is real football. Not that back yard, throw it around BS. Too many rules around WRs these days. I use to love when a WR would get blown up going across the middle. Teach them to stay the #### outta the middle beotches!!!Now a personal foul is called if the WR gets touched while catching the ball.

8 players leaving for LSU:middle linebacker Kevin Minter, free safety Eric Reid, cornerback Tharold Simon, tailback Spencer Ware, punter Brad Wing, defensive end Barkevious Mingo, defensive end Montgomery and defensive tackle Bennie Logan.Chris Faulk, a LT who tore his ACL early in the season and was projected a 1st round pick before the season, might go pro too. That would make 9.That's ok though. LSU is returning every starter on offense, except TE, which they don't use much anyway. Defense will take a hit but several freshmen and sophomores played this year. DE is the position that will take the biggest hit. But LSU just got a verbal commit from Kendall Beckwith, one of the top recruits in the country and he will probably play DE some next year. Now, if LSU can land Robert Nkemdiche. It is down to LSU and Ole Miss. He is the #1 recruit in the country (DE) and they say he is better than Clowney.

CROSS POSTING:

BCS TITLE GAME SQUARES BOARD:

I'm sure most of you are famliar with how Squares pools work. Here is a board I made for tonight's game in case anyone is hosting/attending a watch party.

I intentionally left denominations off for flexibility (and legal reasons if you're doing it in a bar).

It is designed to print perfection on an 11x17 sheet but can be shrunk down for whatever size you want.

Enjoy.

Wow you lose as many guys on DEF as we do. New season cant start soon enough.BTW Nkemdiche is all Ole Miss.

Wow is all I can say. Great game by Alabama in all phases. The ND defense really surprised me tonight with how poorly they played. Glad the team showed heart up to the end, but definitely disappointed in the outcome. Onto next year. #takingmylumps

So, I'm guessing it went as predicted?? Another "meh" ending to the best sport in the country. I can't wait for this stuff to change. To the SEC fans congrats. To the Alabama fans, congrats. To the Alabama honks, congrats on championship #36 (I think that's what they settled on during Finebaum's show yesterday....not exactly sure).

Bama will be right back in this game next year. They start the season by killing Virginia Tech in Atlanta, then after that only a few tough games. @TAMU 9.14LSU 11.9SEC title gameThat's seriously it. Between the Aggies and LSU game, it's a cake schedule.

What's so funny about that? It's smart scheduling. Actually, the bye after Bama is more like the bye before Texas A@M. Plus, playing Furman gives LSU actually 2 byes before Bama to heal up.And please spare me the "Why is LSU playing a I-AA team, blah, blah..." BS. LSU plays in the toughest conference and by far the toughest division in college football. Plus they are playing TCU OOC.
