 Are Auburn fans claiming that the REC paid this advisor to change the transcript for this kid so he could play with Auburn?

Uh no - that would be you Bama fans - we are accusing you of having an assistant coach help move a recruit to a different high school - because "they could take care of him academically" and Alfy Hill is coming up again - just another day in Alabama football. I sure hope Texas A&M haven't forgot how rough things are from their SWC days- and poor Missouri they won't know what hit them for the first couple of years.

It's a conspiracy....we'll see if the NCAA is on board with it this time, or not.

I've been meaning to post some questions about this dude. I got the "privilege" of listening to his show in it's entirety a couple times in the last few weeks. Holy Crap!!!! Are the people who call in "characters" or are those real people?

Apparently Robinsons transcript changed between his junior and senior years....Ole Miss was recruiting him, saw it, and turned it in to the NCAA.No idea if there is a direct connection to AU, or if the NCAA needs to find one other than his commitment....but his loss hurts in that he was their pro-style RB for the new pro-style offense.

Gump, any truth to this counselor being an Auburn grad? I saw that on a message board, apparently being reported by some writer on Fbaum.

I don't get why his show is on national radio (XM). They talk about Alabama and Auburn 90% of the time when I've heard him on and pretty much every one of his callers is from there or LSU. He's the one guy on college sports radio I never listen to just because it's the same crap about the same teams every single day. Perfect for a local show, but I don't get who is listening nationally.

My guess is the market in the Southeast alone is big enough to carry that show. But yeah, the random Pac12 fan in California would not want to listen.

I was in a car for 14 hours the day I listened to his show. I agree with you, but I then listened one or two more times to make sure I just didn't catch them on a bad day. I have to say, I was entertained, but it provided nothing from a sports perspective. If you have any interest in anything outside Alabama or Auburn, it's not for you. And even then, they are short on the actual sports talk. I've pretty much concluded that it's the Jerry Springer of sports radio. It's entertaining for a bit, but once you realize it's just a bunch of hicks bickering back and forth the novelty runs out.

The guidance counsler wasn't an AU alum. The "writer" you're fishing with is Roy Adams, a Tennessee booster known as TennStud or somet such #### on message boards. He was the first guy spouting off about the Logan Young case with Bama a decade a go.

:goodposting: They will definitely be out of their element. Curious to see how they handle living in the SEC.

I saw a sign in the front yard of a house in my neighborhood the other day. Made me chuckle a little. It read:

Texas A@M

This is SEC country

I live in Austin.

Looks like he is a Tiger for life:"One day after flipping to Auburn, Foster cemented the decision by getting a gigantic Auburn tattoo on his forearm. His mother said the commitment remains so strong that the entire family intends to get Auburn tattoos, also."

Official CBS Preseason Poll

They've even gone so far as to predetermine the SOS as well
I really don't see how anyone can be putting OU that high after Stoops booted the WRs and the OL injuries.
Is there a "big" game early on for OU? That's the only reason I can think that Michigan is ranked where they are...for the "hype" factor and advertising.
Not really. OU does play Notre Dame this year but not til the end of October. First two games are UTEP and Florida a&m.

Rumors are starting to fly that Oregon is going to get hit pretty hard by the NCAA. If true, this is very harsh. They are getting basically the same punishment Southern Cal got.

This is from an Oregon board, but has also been stated by a few media members: 2 years bowl ban, 4 years probation, 30 scholarships lost over 3 years, No off campus recruiting for Campbell or Pellum in 2013.

And there are questions, regarding De'Anthony Thomas's eligibility, but that is not resolved, and will be rolled into a separate investigation. Announcement was supposed to come today, but will likely not be released by the NCAA or UO until later in the week.

Weren't there rumors that Oregon was going to be nailed last off-season?

I think there was talk that Oregon was being investigated by the NCAA, but I don't recall anyone saying that the NCAA was done and was ready to announce sanctions. The guy who posted that is supposedly a very credible poster on Oregon's board. I'm still skeptical, but the fact that a few college football reporters are starting to tweet about and claiming independent sources has me believing it more than I would have.

And, now John Infante is stating that Oregon has not received a Notice of Infractions so any talk of possible sanctions is premature.

A lot of different versions of stories going around, jb. On this, Foster, and another potential transcript issue. Could be a lot of misinformation. But it appears the NCAA is sniffing around something....and of course the conspiracy is in full effect!

This would explain losing recruits to Appalachian State University.

First I'd heard of this:

Oklahoma football: Austin Woods battling through chemotherapy treatmentsJunior center plans to keep playing football as he battles Hodgkin's lymphoma. Two days before two-a-days began, Austin Woods was getting another chemotherapy treatment. He needed a day to recover. Then the next day, the first day of football practices, he was on the field with his Oklahoma teammates. The junior center — who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma during the spring — only missed two practices during summer workouts. He didn't miss because he was tired or sick. He missed because he had to go for another treatment.“Some days are definitely harder than others,” Woods said Tuesday as he stood in his socks while talking to media for the first time since his diagnosis, “but I just wanted to keep the right mindset and attack every day.”Woods first realized something was wrong when the glands in his neck were constantly swollen during spring practice. He went to OU's athletic trainer, Scott Anderson, and asked if it was normal. Anderson told him no.Woods went through tests. It wasn't mononucleosis. It wasn't strep throat. He got poked with the needle so many times it no longer bothered him. Then he saw an oncologist.By then, the thought had crossed his mind that it may be cancer. When he found out, Woods' first thought was, “When can I play football again?”Now only four treatments remain. One is on Friday. Woods will be injected with an inch-long needle and sit in a chair at the Stephenson Cancer Center in Oklahoma City for four hours while toxins get pumped through his body. He will do this every two weeks and should be done around Oct. 1. He said he will travel with the team when they go to El Paso for the Sept. 1 opener against UTEP.He hasn't gone through this alone. Woods' mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when he was 5. She or Woods' father have been at every treatment with him. His first treatment, his mom and Woods' best friend, offensive lineman Bronson Irwin, sat through the entire treatment with him.Hodgkin's lymphoma, Woods was told, is just a bad “luck of the draw,” and it hasn't run anywhere else in his family.Originally, he wasn't going to play football this season. He was going take a redshirt, but he trained himself to have a tough mind, through workouts and through treatments. He became an inspiration and said that's what he wants to be — he wants to show his teammates that days can be tough, but if they work together, they can get through it.“When I got diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, I decided I was going to take a fighters' mentality approach to it and I was going to be there with my teammates,” Woods said. “They're all really important to me and we're all brothers on this team.“I wanted to take the approach that I was going to be there for them as much as I could, and thankfully God's given me the ability to stay healthy through the whole process of chemo. It hasn't knocked me down too much.”Woods handled the treatments so well, only missing those two days, that the doctors told him it was his decision whether or not to return to the field this year.“You know, since I invested and went through summer workouts I decided I'm going to go ahead and play,” Woods said. “I'm able and ready to play football this year and that's what I decided to do.”He always told himself he'd be able to play football again. Sitting out was a thought he would not let cross his mind.“I love football,” Wood said. “I love my teammates. I love the University of Oklahoma and football is the first thing on my mind.”

And the hits just keep on coming for Oklahoma. This has been one crappy month for the Sooners...

OU Suspends DT Stacy McGee Indefinitely.

OU suspends DT Stacy McGee

Updated: August 17, 2012, 2:36 PM ET

By Jake Trotter | SoonerNation

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma senior defensive tackle Stacy McGee has been suspended indefinitely for violating university policy, head coach Bob Stoops announced Friday.

McGee has been a key part of the defensive tackle rotation since 2010, compiling 17 starts over that span.

"It's a big loss," said fellow defensive tackle Casey Walker. "But we'll be all right."

To offset the loss of McGee, the Sooners will slide starting defensive end David King to tackle. King has played tackle in spots in his career, but never full time.

"They told me today I'll be playing (defensive tackle) the first couple games of the season," King said. "I've played there before, so it's nothing new for me. I'm comfortable playing down there. I'm heavy enough to where I can play down there and hold my weight. We'll see how it goes."

With King moving inside, Chuka Ndulue likely will take his place as a starter at end opposite R.J. Washington.

The Sooners will also lean on Rashod Favors, who moved from outside linebacker to end during the offseason.

"Rashod Favors keeps showing up," Stoops said. "He's really strong, powerful. That's been a positive."

McGee is the third starter the Sooners have lost this preseason. Center Ben Habern elected to give up football due to lingering back and neck injuries. On the first day of practice, right guard Tyler Evans tore the ACL in his right knee.

Its cool to keep knocking on Auburn right? Forget character...this guys name is bad ###.
Can we keep the recruiting BS out of the season thread? There's a dedicated recruiting thread.
Although this is why that site mentioned earlier forecasting wins based on recruiting rankings will be off. Auburn has recruited well the last few years, but is losing kids left and right due to character issues.

Wouldn't that be the case, though, for the last 10+ years? Teams (most teams) lose players to character issues, injury, early entry, transfer, not qualifying, etc. It's not like Auburn is unique in that they are losing/lost players. Yet, that site has done a great job year in and year out of predicting wins. And, "great" is relative, by the way. They aren't close to nailing anything, but from what I've seen, they've been better than most.

In fact, this is probably factored into those rankings if you think about it. A team that only has one great recruiting class is not going to be projected to do well because their four-year recruiting ranking is going to be low. And, so, losing one player for that team, while it will hurt on the field, isn't going to be that big a deal in forecasting that team because they didn't have the players to compete anyway. And, a team that will be ranked high by that site will have a very high four-year recruiting ranking. That team, because they have lots of other talented players, is going to be hurt less by losing guys to injury, character, etc.

It's not the case because AU is unique in the number they are losing (list I saw was 45 in the last 3 classes). The site may have a great history with their method....but here's the outlier....I don't see how AU wins 9.
