Cliff notes on the two games? I swear every time the Tigers go to a commercial nothing is going on in either one.

Boise-MichSt Turnover Fest. SPartans can run but their QB is horrific. Boise can't do anything in Red Zone. Their TD is a defensive one.Tenn-NC STAfter a very slow start, Tenn turned it on and Bray looks very good. They lost out on a TD at end of half on fumble at goal-line that review somehow failed to overturn. A fan fell out of the upper deck and landed on somebody else.

 Really wanted to see the Boise RB (Harper?) vs. the Spartan defensive front and both passing attacks in the Georgia Dome but Detroit gets the nod this weekend when they're on and unfortunately painting wins tomorrow morning when I'd watch the dvr.

In light of tonight's game this preseason fluff article looks pretty funny:

EAST LANSING — The answers will come soon enough. The testimonials are piling up in the meantime.Michigan State first-year starting quarterback Andrew Maxwell is impressing coaches and teammates with his camp performance. Quarterbacks coach Dave Warner might have delivered the biggest compliment — and establishment of expectations — to date Friday.“I expect Andrew to go into this season where Kirk Cousins went into 2011,” Warner said. “And Kirk Cousins had two years of starting under his belt. But Andrew has been through those same years, and he has learned, although not being on the field.“He has learned through Kirk’s big plays, big decisions. And he’s learned through the mistakes as well. So we anticipate him to step in there and just continue taking the offense to the next level, hopefully.”Cousins was a fourth-round pick of the Washington Redskins after leaving MSU with most of its passing records and the most wins for a quarterback in school history. He was a three-time captain for the Spartans.Maxwell saw spot duty behind Cousins the past two seasons and will debut as the starter when Boise State visits Spartan Stadium on Aug. 31.But MSU junior cornerback Darqueze Dennard said there’s “really no drop-off” from Cousins to Maxwell, adding: “Kirk was smarter and I guess he had more freelance (freedom) for play-calling. But I pretty much think they’re neck and neck.”Warner also said it has been several practices since Maxwell threw an interception.“He’s a complete quarterback,” junior defensive end Will Gholston said. “He doesn’t sweat under pressure. He can take a hit — I’ve tried to touch him a couple times.”

Why was Boise thinking of going for it on 4th and 10?

Punt them deep and Maxwell is 50/50 for safety or Pick 6.

In Maxwell's defense, MSU's pass blocking has been atrocious. Whenever I see him have time in the pocket, I start looking around to see if the play was blown dead.

And why, for the love of God, would you run a crazy trick play involving Lippett at this point? :hot:

can we get a Navy ND lean?

Looking at u27 1h. Non scientific here...but these guys have to be tired right? Assuming they all got drunk last night?

ATLANTA —

Channel 2 Action News has confirmed a person fell from the upper level seating area in the Georgia Dome Friday night during the NC State vs. Tennessee football game.

Emergency crews said a 20-year-old male fell about 35 feet from the upper level and landed on another person sitting in the mezzanine area.

Both people were taken to Atlanta Medical Center to be checked out.

Georgia World Congress Center police are currently investigating the incident. So far, there is no word if alcohol played a factor in the incident.

Fan dies after Georgia Dome fall

ATLANTA -- A 20-year-old man from Tennessee who plunged about 35 feet from the upper level of the Georgia Dome and struck another fan during the Tennessee-North Carolina State game has died, authorities said Saturday.

The man fell on another fan seated in the mezzanine area during the game Friday evening, The Georgia World Congress Center Authority, which operates the downtown football stadium, said in a statement.

Anybody try out the Erin Andrews football show? Can't imagine having my tv on anything other than Gameday on Saturday mornings.

Steaks marinating, beer on ice, lucky Longhorn cap on. I love these days!

Thankfully, Bell looks like a good enough back for Sparty to ride all year long. Very impressive.

JUCO WR Cordarrelle Patterson just exploded past everyone on the TD run (end around). In one quarter of FBS football, he screams NFL WR.
 Patterson/Hunter are a nasty duo... Both ~6'4" w solid movesI'll go ahead and call it now... TN beats FL on 9/15. Overconfident after an NCUSt game? Maybe... But if this team can get that secondary settled down a little they are going to be trouble. Not contenders by any stretch... But they are 8-4 all day and MIGHT go 9-3 if everyone stays healthy this year. Nice turn around might be enough for Wall-ey to keep his job.

Stay Classy LSU and perhaps force folks down there to take an english class??

OSU fans not to be outdone At least their grammar was correct??
SEC fans won't get this.
Oh good, since Hucks is gone, you're here to pick up his make fun of the south shtick. BRAVO! Well played, sir. Well played.
I take my shots at fanboys nationwide.
Good God. Conference fanboys are the worst. Ruins the college football discussions.
I wouldn't root for my conference if it got demolished in every national championship game either. :excited:
:giggle:

Not exactly a bold prediction. Winning at home against a team coming off its worst season since 1979.Florida's strength, if it has one, will be its defense so it should be an interesting match-up.
You want bold? Miami of Oh is going to beat Oh St today. Buckeyes look soft.
I imagine the depth of athletes will catch up with Miami eventually, but OSU's offense isn't exactly clicking on all cylinders yet. Maybe Meyer should have spent less time with his family and more at work.

Tenn had ONE win vs the SEC last year, has been beaten by Florida the last 7 times (the last 5 by double digit points). This Florida squad beat Ohio state in their bowl game. Let's not pretend that Florida is the only squad coming off a down year... :)

Not that it is a blip on the national radar (or to anyone else here), but my alma mater UMass makes its FBS debut tonight at UConn (7:30, ESPN3).

The Minutemen have been playing football since 1879 ... only Rutgers and Michigan among FBS schools have been playing longer. Been waiting a long time for this.

:football:
That's got to be a cool feeling. Enjoy it tonight.
Cool....how are they expected to be? Who will be your big rivals?
Welcome to FBS football. Good luck. :football:
Thanks for the kind words.Unfortunately, the welcome to FBS football was not so kind ... although it took less than a quarter for UMass to make SportsCenter top play of the day:

A new coach and little to no experience on offense led for a long night. Expectations weren't high anyway ... hoping for a couple of wins.

Natural rivalries will be difficult playing in the MAC, where Buffalo is the closest team geographically. Playing home games at Gillette Stadium will be interesting ... 94 miles from campus (and many local fans not happy about it), but much closer to the large alumni base in and around Boston.

It will take time, but I'm just happy to be in the game and watching games on Saturday (like Ohio vs. Penn State now) that mean something to my team.

62 points in the first game for the Mountaineers is a nice way to start. Little worried about the secondary but that offense was firing on all cylinders today Almost a perfect game from Geno Smith :excited:

EDIT: Make it 69 :excited:

Welcome to the conference. Not too many people here follow the MAC very closely; or if they do, they don't post about it. UB has no true rival, so it may be nice to have UMass in the conference for football, maybe they'll become a natural rival. Temple never really became a rival for UB during their brief MAC run.The nice thing about the MAC is that there is always a lot of turnover at the top. A small handful of core players can really make a big difference in the MAC, and those players tend to come and go. UB was one of the worst teams in the nation in 2006 and prior (and they are now as well), and won the conference in 2008. Miami (OH) was 1-11 (1-7) in 2009 and won the conference in 2010.UB won't be very good this year, though I think their scoreline vs. Georgia (down 38-16) is a bit misleading. They've been playing well today. The West is the class of the MAC this year, Western/Northern/Toledo are all formidable. Ohio shouldn't have much trouble in the East, they're pretty good - as we can see today as they lead PSU late. Tyler Tettleton might be conference POY. Most publications have UB, UMass, and Akron as cellar-dwellers in the East, though I think Akron could surprise. They've got some decent coaching in place with Terry Bowden, Chuck Amato, and "non-football VP" Jim Tressel. I have no idea what Tressel does there.

Georgia not looking all that intimidating against Buffalo this week. As a Mizzou fan, I'm a little less worried about them invading Columbia next week. Just a little, though.

On a side note, it's going to be so fun scouting SEC games when the team you support is a part of the conference.

He's not supposed to be connected with the athletic department in any way. Certainly no direct involvement with the football team. I think he's mainly there so they can go "look, Jim Tressel" when they're hitting up alumni for checks.
We can only hope. Tressel certainly has a long-standing track record of following NCAA regulations. ;)

I did find this interesting:
He is not allowed to recruit prospects. He could meet with them as part of academic-related contact during visits.

Ryan Nassib has thrown 4 TDs in the last 15 minutes (game time, not real time) and has brought Syracuse back from a 35-13 deficit to a 41-35 lead over Northwestern with 2 minutes left.

Nassib is 42-57 for 459 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT. Daaaamn.
