why would nd keep msu and purdue but drop michigan?
This is all pure speculation but:1) I don't think its clear that they will keep MSU and Purdue. They had an out in the M contract - but it required them to give 3 games notice. So they had to give the notice before last Saturday's game. It was just a timing issue.2) As great as some of the M/ND battles have been, ND has a longer history with both Purdue and Michigan State. Or at least, they have played a lot more games against each other. M and ND didn't play from 1943-1978. (see #3)3) M and ND have always had an uneasy relationship - ever since M kept ND out of the Big Ten back in 19turnofthecentury. (see: Bo Schembechler "To Hell with Notre Dame!")

Announced he will be stepping down as of Jan 1st, 2013. And I agree with you about Alberts. He is a jackwagon.

They have the wrong Pac12 game on ESPN. Very interested in Oregon St-Arizona. I am beginning to think that Oregon should be really worried about the Civil War. I also think that Arizona will struggle to make a bowl game and that Oregon's win over them isn't all that impressive. Arizona can change my mind on both counts.
ESPN is all about ratings, Oregon gives them better ratings.Oregon St's defense vs. Arizona's offense would be fun to watch though, see if the Beaver defense is legit. Just too bad no Pac 12 network yet on my u-verse, would be channel surfing.

ESPN doesn't always have first pick of Pac-12 games. It rotates among ESPN, Fox and the Pac-12 Network. This was a big deal for the Pac-12 Network, so that they would have the content they needed to get beneficial carriage agreements with the major carriers. Unfortunately, they haven't struck a deal with DirecTV yet.

He singlehandedly backstabbed basically 4 classes of athletes at my alma mater (U-Nebraska-Omaha) by secretly deciding to cut football and wrestling but still recruiting for those sport sknowing full well they were being cut. Class A ####. So full of himself.

About to see if this vols team is any good. 4 tough games in a row including 3 against top 6 teams, and three on the road.
They certainly didn't look very good at home vs Florida.
Bray and those outside WRs are scary, but that's about it. The defense is terrible. UF's Trey Burton is an excellent football player, but he shouldn't go 80 yards on anyone.Actually the TE is pretty good too.

The experience is likely to change for several fans as Kentucky President Eli Capilouto has imposed an alcohol ban for non-reserved tailgating spots near Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.
S-E-C S-E-C S-E-C S-E-C BTW, this silly SEC chant has been reigning down during games where Georgia and South Carolina took on...wait for it....Missouri. Who, as of this year, is in the SEC. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Why are people calling this a big game tonight? Doesn't Washington suck?

Last time we saw them, LSU was shoving their face into the pillow.

This is mostly correct.1. PU and MSU both played Notre Dame when the rest of the Big Ten would not. In some alum's minds, this earns them a seat at the table over others.2. PU is the in state rival, so to most it was only ever a consideration between MSU and UM.3. Previosuly, Michigan had always stopped the series with Notre Dame, always after a Notre Dame victory as well.4. Fielding Yost was an unabashed Catholic hater who staunchly kept Notre Dame out of the Big Ten for years. Those who've always wonedered why Notre Dame never joined and still has never joined the Bit Ten need look no further.

Probably because it's on TV. :shrug:LSU can make a LOT of teams look bad, especially at home. Hell, they made the Ducks look bad on a neutral site. Alabama manhandled them in the championship game, but other than that, it's been a nice run of defensive dominance. Washington was way over matched. But it's a pretty big game for the Pac-12. Stanford needs a win here to keep pace with the Ducks. They weren't supposed to be USC, but they are heavy road favorites against the Huskies. This is a chance for Washington to wipe the purple and gold stains off their chinstraps and man up. They have the QB to do it, but that defense has been horrendous. I'm more interested in this game tonight than I am the NFL game. But I'm a Pac-12 honk, so I would understand if most of the nation ignored it.

Aren't they 1-3 or something? I was just surprised at everybody on twitter hyping this up.

Stanford 3-0Washington 2-1BUT....Washington barely beat San Diego State and their other win came against Big Sky marshmallow Portland State. If they lose this one tonight, I expect another terrible season for the Huskies and I wouldn't be surprised to see their coach fired. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of doooooshbags.

With apologies to Redmond Longhorn, of course. He's cool, but the rest of UW fans can lick me where I wipe in the morning.

UW was considered, before the season, to be in the group right below Oregon and Southern Cal with Utah and Stanford as possible challengers to Oregon and Southern Cal. So, they were thought to be with Stanford as the best bets to finish second to Oregon in the North. The media, when they hype a team all offseason, aren't always quick to admit they are wrong. And, for some reason, Sark seems to be a bit of a media darling, despite not doing all that much.

Stanford should be able to handle them, but with UW's offense, I could see Stanford struggling to pull away.

Well, that's unfortunate. :bye: Stanford
This is why I posted it is a Big Pac-12 game. Washington isn't a bad team. LSU made them look worse than they are. This game was very similar to the LSU/Auburn game. LSU and Stanford had 1st year starting QBs playing in their first road conference game in hostile environments and they both played like it. Fortunately, LSU won their game.

my two comments are there is no way in hell that the sec has 4 of the top 6 teams in the country.

and secondly stanford is not close to being a top 10 team. they are the biggest fraud in the pac 12 only because they beat the 2nd biggest fraud in the pac 12 usc.
OK guy. Name me 5 teams that are better than S. Carolina, Georgia, LSU and Bama.
Oregon, K-State, Stanford, FSU, and Notre Dame (ick) should probably all be ahead of Georgia and South Carolina at this point. WV would be debatable too.

Ran the KRACH numbers again after last night's game, just out of curiosity.Stanford drops from No. 2 to No. 22; Washington jumps from No. 50 to No. 20. No surprise there.

But interestingly, Washington's win pushes LSU up 11 spots to No. 7.

I've never seen a non-fan wanting a particular team to be "good" this much before  It's week 5, WGAS? Oh and "IN" before the "the BCS and how it works makes me act this way" shtick.

Palmer is turrible in the booth. Makes me wanna throw something at the TV. Like poop.
My favorite is when he uses coaches' full names.State's offensive co-ordinator John J. Johnson is going to have to go into his bag of tricks here.

We were talking to Tech's defensive co-ordinator Reginald R. Rodgers before the game about this exact situation.

Not sure what you are saying here but I want Washington to be good so it will make LSU's victory look that much better.

Have you EVER stopped to think that there are so many factors in a season that this just doesn't matter? The biggest one you'll have to tackle is that Washington's going to improve (as most teams will throughout the season) but that doesn't change the fact that they were pretty bad in the LSU game? Same thing for Alabama beating Michigan. I am confident that Michigan's going to end up being pretty good, but that team that was on the field Sept 1 flat out sucked. However, you are filling in my initial comment nicely. Keep up the good work!

From my inside guy at UT

"I'm just calling to prepare you for how badly we are going to get beaten today. Make sure you have plenty of beer on hand."

Funny, you didn't seem to feel this way when LSU beat Auburn.Despite that, if Wash were to do something like say.... Win the PAC12. There is no way that doesn't resonate with voters when LSU thrashed them. It would improve their SOS and quality wins. There is no way around that.

Pretty awful coaching by Arkansas, as usual. Have they not watched any tape of Texas A&M at all? This 4-man rush with off coverage is exactly what A&M eats up. Any time a team has blitzed him and/or played tight on the receivers they've struggled mightily, but Arkansas has no interest in that.
