I don't think it's really that anti-traditional. Black is a secondary color for NU....MLB has been doing secondary color jerseys for years.

I don't have any issue with the alternate jerseys if they are well done, except that the Cocks always lose with them on. Really liked the grey ones used against LSU last year.

Are five star recruits really going to choose Nebraska because they might get to wear a black jersey every once in awhile?

It doesn't hurt. Teens like a cool school...these kind of things make them cooler. Up to the individual how much weight to give it.

Jersey sales are also soft...not sure how many Nike will produce, but it creates a buzz on that end.

So, Oregon loses 3 scholies, loses some official visits and Chip gets 18 month show cause? There aren't enough :lmao: 's that I could post.

Goddell is announcing that he's going to suspend Chip this afternoon, right?

As good of a spot as any for this...

The FFA Fantasy College Football league, entering its 9th season, is looking to add a few more owners this season.

Draft is slow, deep, and held in the FFA before fall practice gets underway. Probably worth a look for most of you college football diehards.

Easily the most fun I have with magic football each year, and I think most of the guys in the league would agree.

The penalties are just about what anyone thought they would be, assuming you've followed the story. Definitely relieved, because wtf knows what the NCAA will do on a given day.

Now time for Helfrich to pick it up and take things that one step further that Chip didn't!

MAC preliminary TV schedule. ESPN3 games for only the first couple of weeks so far.
Ah yes, the annual MAC "let's schedule a ton of games on Tuesday and Wednesday late in the year so we can get 25,000 viewers on ESPN2!!!" philosophy in full effect. UB with 3 straight Tuesday-night games 11/5 - 11/12 - 11/19. Upside is that I can see them on ESPN2 and ESPNU and I don't have to miss real college football on Saturdays....the downside is that it shows just how big a joke the program is. If they're as bad as I think they could be....those games could be brutally bad television. Maybe I'll go to the Ohio game on 11/5. #### Ohio.
Would you rather Buffalo/MAC get no exposure at all, and no opportunity to showcase anything to a potential recruit who just might be among those 25,000 watching and might see something he likes?

Granted, the poll math had everything to do with it in the end, but there was plenty of buzz around "MAC-tion" and the play of Northern Illinois, Kent State and, to a lesser extent earlier in the season, Ohio (after the win at Penn State). Those TV games were a big part of that, when they otherwise would have been buried on a Saturday afternoon.

I'm sure UMass would take any/all of your mid-week ESPN games in a heartbeat as it tries to build its program.

Every time i allow myself to think the NCAA couldn't make itself look any worse...

Was the Show Cause add supposed to be some kind of message? Similar to Emmerts John Wayne speech last year? If they leave that off...nothing really to talk about. Instead they make themselves look incompetent again. As if anyone believes that would be a part of the penalty with Kelly still there.

I'm sick of people claiming that Oregon cheated when they have not bothered to read the reports. Oregon operated in a grey area much like many other schools have done in regards to recruiting services. They did not give illegal benefits to any student athletes and fully cooperated with the NCAA during the entire process. While the penalties may seem light today, I would argue that Oregon has already been punished enough with the harm it has done to recruiting over these past two years. How does it take the NCAA 27 months to rule on this?

Oregon is the real victim here

Oregon plays patty cake and gets a love tap in return.

USC acts defiant - gets whacked.

Ohio State plays fast and loose - gets whacked.

Penn State rolls over and plays dead - gets harshest punishment ever.

Show me the consistency.

I think the degrees of oversight and neglect at the hands of Penn State football and administration is something that is really unprecedented in our history and hopefully is an outlier for centuries. I don't disagree that Penn State got whacked incredibly hard (though not as hard as SMU, so I disagree with your 'harshest punishment ever' line) but I don't think you can compare the cases as they are apples and oranges. I mean...Penn State Football is responsible for victims of sexual crimes with a heinous cover-up. Yuck, man.

That Muschamp pic is pretty awesome.

What do we got, 8 or 9 Saturdays without football left? Can't get here soon enough.

I had read this, but I'm struggling to see the benefit of anyone going over there without ND as the opponent.
Yea...I don't really get it either. The travel expenses would probably wipe out most of the appearance fee. And you're doing this instead of a game in Atlanta or Dallas.

Coverage would be massive...

Any word on a D Hand announcement schedule? I've drifted from recruiting a bit this summer and was surprised Michigan was still in the running.

Lots of Irish Catholic families send kids to BC in the Greater Boston Area. I suspect they would do very well.

A BC ND game would bring the house down. BC basically forces ND to play a home and home every few years via it's church connections, and I can't see them "wasting" the home game in Ireland.

Your damn right. Tue-Thr Mac football is some great TV and I suspect they get much more then 25K viewers.

I can tell you they get at least 15 from the FFAWT alone.

Those Thursday night CFB games get huge audiences. Mostly degens and people that just like watching football.

Wish the NFL would stop this Thursday night bull#### though.

Michigan is the current favorite. They've been top 2 all along from what I've seen, but the other top 2 was dropped (VT) when he named his final 3 of UM, UF, and UA.

247 has dozens of analyst predicting top players...currently at 56% UM....28% UA.

He says he'll announce during the season, before Dec.

I'll believe it when I see it. Was over at 247 an hour or so ago trying to read up....Getting Peppers appears to have been a big part of Hand's interest in Michigan. That sound correct?

I haven't been following very closely...not sure how it began. UM is currently his only scheduled official visit this Fall though....Sept 6th. That's a good sign.

Johnny Football kicked out of the Manning Passing Academy.

I understand why people defended him when he started getting criticism this offseason, but at this point I think it's obvious that the young man isn't doing a great job handling his success.

Can't wait for it to get started. I was going to get NCAA Football, but since EA doesn't have the "playoff" in their current game, I'll just wait until next year when they should. I mentioned this in the ACC thread I started, but I'm cautiously optimistic about Carolina this year. If they could get even just one win on the road at SC/Georgia Tech/Virginia Tech and finish the season with 3 or 4 losses I'll be thrilled. Expectations are higher this year for them, so we'll see what Fedora can do.

Man, what a tough schedule for the Bruins this year. At Nebraska. At Stanford. At Oregon. And the Stanford and Oregon games are back to back. Ouch.

So he went home 'sick' after missing meetings....which he is supposed to be a mentor in....and was then spotted out that night in College Station.

Croke Park (pronounced "crow") to host Penn State - Central Florida

The hook here is that both HCs are Irish. Penn State is giving up a home game - and a boat load of seats (from 108k to 69k). But, this is something that BOB has wanted since we've been bowl banned.
