Max Bullough (LB) Michigan State suspended for the rest of the season for violation of team rules. Did not make the trip to Pasadena with the rest of the team.

Shocking to say the least. Guy plays his entire college career for this moment and then pisses it away...

- only thing that worries me about Oregon State is they haven't won a game since 10/19. Five straight conference losses to end season.

- N. Illinois goes from potential BCS game to Poinsettia Bowl. Seems weird for small school, but this has to be a letdown, no?

- who wants to be in El Paso less, Oregon or Texas?
Technically, it's San Antonio.
:lmao:
You didn't know San Antonio is a suburb of El Paso? Santa Anna had a couple of burritos before laying seige to the Alamo.

UMass fires Charley Molnar, just two seasons into his five-year deal and the FBS transition.

A lot of rumblings up here about the timing of it, and what it all means. AD says "the perception of the program is not where it needs to be." My speculation is that the Board of Trustees called the shots, based on lack of alum engagement/support and some other off-the-field stuff.

At least at this point the Minutemen are only competing with Texas for the candidate pool.

What were they expecting; aa BCS bowl in year one? Woof.

Against Stanford's power running game, the last person MSU needed to lose was its run-stuffing middle linebacker. I was optimistic about a Spartan win, not so much anymore.

No, but that's what leads me (and a lot of others) to believe there is more going on behind the scenes. A 2-22 record with mostly FCS-level talent is to be expected. But there was a lot of alienation of alums. There was the infamous "boxing/MMA in the snow" video that was making the rounds on Deadspin and other places earlier this fall, even though it wasn't banned at the time it was recorded. And why wait until almost four weeks after the season is over if you are dumping someone based just on record?

I've heard some stuff, but don't know what might be true, so I won't speculate at all. But there reportedly was an outside investigation and interviews with players/staff.

Yep, going to be tough for us now.

Fun fact: New Orleans is closer to San Antonio than El Paso is.

[Johnny Carson]

I did NOT know that!

Is Boyd from Pitt really this good or is BG just making him look that way?

eta: I see he was a Biletnikoff candidate, so I guess that answers my question.

Fire up the "Saban to UMass" thread.

Nick Aliotti retiring from football. Alamo Bowl will be his last season coaching the Duck's Defense. Should be one hell of a retirement party in El Paso on Monday.

What does a starting senior linebacker have to do to get kicked off the team before the Rose bowl? Murder somebody? Couldn't they have overlooked whatever it was?

maybe on a program run poorly. I am hard wired to not like Michigan St but unlike Ohio they make it difficult.

Notre hires Brian VanGorder as DC. I can't complain. I don't know much about the guy but know he favors a more aggressive defense than Diaco and think that's a good thing.

With Notre Dame's win and Michigan's loss, Notre Dame regains the all time winning percentage for the first time since the Willingham era.

I think Chizik deserves most of the blame, but BVG was the DC at Auburn when they fielded the worst team in SEC history last year.

Texas D putting on a good show tonight. They have held Oregon to no TDs in the 1st half. When's the last time that's happened?

@tomecurran

Was told AJ McCarron will not accept his Senior Bowl invite. Standing on play last 4 yrs w Tide.
Terrible move, and I hope he reconsiders. Geno Smith admitted that blowing off the Senior Bowl was a huge mistake. Go to the game, play with the best of the best and show the scouts you have nothing to hide.

"Can I hand the ball off?"

Extremely poor decision.

He's from Mobile and is a Rock Star there...it would not be productive.
