Why are they doing two trophies? :oldunsure:
That's not different than the past. IIRC, 4 trophies have been awarded...BCS, AP, the Grantland Rice, and another. So maybe 5 now?
That's why I asked the question. Shouldn't it be with the birth of this new playoff system? I thought that was the whole point.
Can't really stop a group from handing out trophies. The only one you'll see on tv is the new one though.

Politics? Those other groups still want their name on it. I'm sure there is an agreement that they will select the same team though.

Good point

I think UCLA is going to be great this year, but I really don't want Tim to have any joy in his life. I'm conflicted.

Anyone going to any good CFB games this season? I am either going to go to FSU vs ND or FSU vs Clemson. It's difficult to get away for a weekend, but I have to see Jameis play once.
I may try to catch Grove City College defend the Mercer County Cup against Thiel. You can throw the record book out the window when the Wolverines and Tomcats hookup...

Auburn QB Nick Marshall, who's primed for a big year, was 'cited' for marijuana possession yesterday. Won't be a big deal, but should add some spice to the SEC Media Days this week.
Marshall was pulled from the lineup. :kicksrock:

Big dumb Will Muschamp is up.

@celebrityhottub: Will Muschamp sounds like hes begging for a bank loan that hes not qualified to receive.

@TomahawkNation: Muschamp encouraged by the punting situation.

Nice lineup for Aug. 30th.

So Carolina vs A&M

bama vs WV

Ark vs auburn

LSU vs Wisconsin

FSU Oklahoma st

Louisville vs Miami

SoCAR v TAMU is the 28th...but fantastic opening weekend, and Saturday.
And Louisville/Miami is on Labor Day night. Should be a great weekend. Hopefully Miami's D has improved somehow since the DC was allowed to keep his job.

Yeah Miami got crushed and I don't think it was just Teddy Bridgewater. I wonder if Duke Johnson will be back?

The crazy minority of the Michigan base would be clamouring for Harbaugh. Though, I haven't seen a major uprising that suggests Hoke is on the hotseat.

Good to know...I recall a lot of negativity late last year, but that doesn't = hot seat. Schedule seems fair enough to get 8+ wins pretty easily. He didn't bottom out like Muschamp.

I think Muschamp is gone if he loses 5 games. I think losing to Bama, LSU, and FSU would be acceptable. They need to win 5/6 vs. Tenn, SoCar, UGA, Vandy, UK, Mizzo.

Even then, he still might be gone if they lose and they're "boring".

I only agree with Mississippi State, BYU and Penn State.
Thats funny, last week there was an article about how our uni's were the worst in the SEC.

Newly renovated stadium, high expectations and a "dark horse" Heisman candidate is more than I can handle.

Last time we had expectation this high was 2001...which started arguable the worse 8 year stretch in Miss State football history.

Its hard to get too excited.

Our stadium is sweet though, now equipped with the Dallas Cowboy type field level boxes.

So any names floating around yet?

I'd guess Offensive-minded. I'm sure they aim high.

Kingsbury? Gus?

Next level....Chad Morris? Scott Frost?

These high expectations have me very worried. Every time we (State fans) get real excited about a season they'll go 4-8. It is all set up this year though...

AT LSU, Alabama, and Ole Miss is 'all set up'?

What about the UCF coach? They could pluck a good guy from a lesser program.

Yeah, that bowl game was a debacle. Duke is reportedly 100% again and 15 lbs heavier but retained his quickness. If they can get a QB to just not make mistakes and get the ball to playmakers, unlike Snickers, the offense should put up a good amount of points. I just hope the addition by subtraction that happened with graduation on D is beneficial. Losing those 2 idiot LBs really hurts the depth there though. Again, it's on the DC. Petrino is an offensive minded coach, so we'll see very early how the D is going to be.

Right now, not going to win Bama or LSU no matter where it is. The other 10 games are very winnable with Auburn, A&M, and Arkansas at home. They don't have South Carolina on the schedule for the first time in forever. F Ole Miss, I feel a win in Oxford. And to further my "all set up", I also mean there are starters returning at almost every position.

One guy that might get a interview but not the job is Kerwin Bell.

Too huge of a jump from Pioneer League JU but he IS an alum.

One was a True Sophomore and was supposed to start alongside Perryman. He will be replaced by the guy who started last year while he was injured. The other was a RS Sophomore, I think, who might have played on ST last year and was going to be a backup ILB. It just hurts depth because that's 2 more bodies that could have played and allowed a True Freshman to RS where he now will have to play, probably mostly on ST.

Not that part, but if things were ever really "set up" for us it would be this year.

Normally when you look at our schedule you can pin about 3 likely losses, 4 toss ups, and 4 or 5 "should win" games.

Looking at our schedule now, @ Bama is the only game I'd look at as one we likely won't win.

Obviously no State fan ever thinks we can beat LSU, much less at their place but a lot of us think this could be the year. We catch them early, breaking in a new QB. Our D is going to be really good this year. They should keep us in any game.

At OM doesn't worry me. I can;t buy into their hype as much as some folks. they are paper thin on the O line, and their QB at best is slightly above average....and he hasn't been "at best" but a handful of games in 2012.

All our Home SEC (Aub, A&M, Ark and Vandy) games should be winnable, maybe with the exception of Auburn.

hell who knows with us, I'll update you after the LSU game.

Well, he has another season this year like last, all bets are off. Most were upset with a few common things:

1. No real progression of the offensive line.

2. No real imagination by the OC.

Borges was trying to cram his system in with guys not equipped to run it. First thing Hoke did was fire the OC. But, as I said before, they completely collapse and look lost at the end of this season, I can see the seat getting very hot very quickly. If the offensive line hasn't improved substantially (along with the running game) it's gonna get ugly.

On the Auburn game, I absolutely think they're a juggernaut on offense, but somehow we've played their last two national championship game participants as well as anybody did either year. I think we will hang with them.

I like the optimism in Stark-vegas!
Translation = AWWWWWW How Cute!

trust me, these are all extremely tempered expectations. Its better than hoping to win 6.
I can definitely see MSU making a run sooner than Ole Miss. A lot of good things going on there. And not buying Freeze yet...but Mullen REALLY needs some big wins.
Ole Miss has had some great recruiting class. It's time for them to start winning.

Don't think they're gonna look at a 68 (next year) year old O'Leary.

I'd take one big win at this point...he really doesn't have one. Too many close ones we've been on the wrong end of, lsu auburn and Arkansas in 2010 then auburn last year.
