Florida State (tough to repeat but favorable schedule this year)

Alabama (may lose one during regular season but bounce back to win SECCG)

UCLA (get Oregon, USC and Stanford at home)

Oklahoma (get Texas and Baylor at home...only semi-tough games on an otherwise easy schedule)

Oklahoma (get Texas and Baylor at home...only semi-tough games on an otherwise easy schedule)
Texas is in Dallas as always. @ TCU should be the toughest game this year. They will destroy Baylor at home like always.

Yeah forgot that...but OK will be looking for payback from last year on Texas.

Can beat both Tech and TCU...giving them the benefit of the doubt this year to pull it off.

I agree with you, it's a pretty easy schedule. They are as safe a pick as any to make the playoff. Having said that they probably can't afford a loss, and going undefeated is tough even with an easy-ish schedule.

Is Tennessee supposed to be any good this year?

Andrew Butcher thinks Tennessee is better than Bama.

Not supposed to be...still re-building their top level talent and depth.

What the hell: Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

Basically the perfect scenario for the CFP.
Swap Alabama for FSU and that would be my 4. I think it's going to be hard for any team in the SEC to go undefeated, and I think the other 3 have a great chance of running the table. Ohio State did it last year, and the Big 10 is weak, so they likely do it again. If DGB is allowed to play for Oklahoma they could be undefeated as well. I don't know much about the PAC, but a returning Mariota has to make them the best team in the conference. That leaves FSU who has a harder schedule than last season, but they will be heavily favorited in every game. I realize it I highly unlikely, bit I could see all 4 of these teams being undefeated by selection time.

I don't think a committee would put a 1 lost SEC team in over any of those schools if they go undefeated.

Anyone going to any good CFB games this season? I am either going to go to FSU vs ND or FSU vs Clemson. It's difficult to get away for a weekend, but I have to see Jameis play once.
Will be going to all the SC home games and maybe a trip to Vandy.
Hey, me too!
You sure about that?
OK, I know I'll miss one of the home games. Still hoping to work out a trip to Vandy though.

I like the optimism in Stark-vegas!
Translation = AWWWWWW How Cute!

trust me, these are all extremely tempered expectations. Its better than hoping to win 6.
I can definitely see MSU making a run sooner than Ole Miss. A lot of good things going on there. And not buying Freeze yet...but Mullen REALLY needs some big wins.
I'd take one big win at this point...he really doesn't have one. Too many close ones we've been on the wrong end of, lsu auburn and Arkansas in 2010 then auburn last year.
I heard that Jesse Palmer just picked MSU to win the LSU game, so obviously it isn't that far fetched. MSU played LSU tough for three quarters last year, then just packed it up in the fourth. It should be a good game, but MSU has only won at LSU something like 4 times in the past 55 years. It's gonna be fun.

Alabama v USC, Cowboys Classic to open '16 season.

Hopefully LHucks is un-banned by then.

Psycho / TF - when does Fournette explode onto the national scene?
week 1 :football:
I agree with this.

I think Les tries to phase him in but the Kid just starts to destroy people alla Adrian Peterson did his freshman year.

The kid is dealing with really high expectations, but the LSU O line should be dominant this year. Fournette won't start, but LSU is gonna run a lot in this game giving him plenty of opportunity to make his mark.

I could see a Yeldon-esque debut...with some exciting carries, but limited as a backup.
Miles/Cameron do a good job of playing the fresh RB. I doubt he'll receive 80% of the carries, but he will be a factor for sure.

Yeldon had 11 carries for 111 yards and 1 TD vs Michigan back on Labor Day, '12....that was of 42 team carries.

Every top RB prospect in the country who thought about going to LSU in last years class passed because they knew Fournette was going there this year. It was easy to hold off Yeldon when you got Lacy+Richardson and other 5 star recruits in the stable. McGee and Hilliard aren't going to keep LFIII off the field this fall and talent will take care of the rest. I guess they may hold him back a little in games 1-5, but come @ Auburn and @ Fla in weeks 6-7 he will get as many carries as he can handle.

The problem of underclassmen declaring for the NFL draft in increasingly alarming numbers might continue to elude a solution, but at least part of the answer might have been discovered by the Texas A&M athletic administration.

Aggies offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, a projected first-round draft pick had he turned pro early, was in part swayed to stay in school for his senior season by a rule allowing Texas A&M to pay for his loss-of-value insurance policy. In fact, according to FOXSports.com, Ogbuehi said he likely would have entered the 2014 NFL Draft had the Aggies not paid more than $50,000 for the policy that protects him financially from an injury- or illness-related slip in the draft.

And believe it or not, it's perfectly legal in the eyes of the NCAA.

The NCAA allows for what is known as a Student Assistance Fund, under which institutions can help student athletes with various forms of financial need. The fund itself is nothing new -- when a tornado ravaged Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 2011, for instance, Alabama was able to help some of its displaced student-athletes with its fund -- but Texas A&M's use of the fund in Ogbuehi's case is most definitely new territory for its application.

I don't know wtf is going on exactly...but there is VERY audible snoring/heavy breathing sound in the background of Saban's speech on ESPN. :lmao:

I'm going to UCLA-Oregon on October 11, and UCLA - Southern Cal on November 22. Both in the Rose Bowl. I also have tickets to the UCLA - Texas game in Dallas and the UCLA- Stanford game, but as of right now, I won't be there.

My brother went to the UCLA- Nebraska game at Lincoln last year. Told me it was the greatest venue he had ever been too- best atmosphere.
For point of reference, where else has he been?

I've never been to Lincoln.
Just about every Pac12 stadium, plus Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
Cool... that's a pretty nice resume. So no SEC stadium experience of which to compare?
Hasn't been there. Like me, he's a UCLA fan. In the past, outside of Tennesee, UCLA hasn't played too many SEC teams. I think that's supposed to change in the near future- the Bruins scheduled a series with Alabama in a few years.
Yeah, they played (and beat) Alabama in 2000 and 2001, and they've played Tennessee on a couple of occasions.

But, they've got a couple SEC home and homes coming up. No Alabama on the horizon, but Texas A&M is on the schedule in 2016 (at A&M) and 2017. And, LSU is on the schedule in 2021 and 2024 (at LSU). Both should be great road trips.

This is a nice diversion from the summer league basketball I was watching.

One of these days my wife is going to serve me with papers.

The important thing is there is football on espn2 that I was previously unaware of.
Not a bad game by CFL standards. Both teams are 3-0.

Somehow, Brian Brohm is 2nd-string behind Willy. I can't imagine that will last much longer.

Willy is 1-8 for 2 yards, with a pick-6 and missed another WR who was WIDE open for a 70-yard TD.

Are there any good players in this league? Is this where good college players go to die? Or do they just quit after the nfl tells them no?

A lot of NFL rejects. Remember former TCU QB Casey Printers? He was all pissed off that the Chiefs cut him on Hard Knocks. He went to the CFL and played for 4 years. Guys like that. You'll also occasionally notice a lot of former big names from college football, but many of these players are complete unknowns to me.

As time marches on I think this is going to be part of "player compensation". All players submit for a grade and based on that grade they get an insurance policy.

DirecTV issued a statement yesterday saying they were close...and Comcast has now reached an SEC Network agreement:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2014/07/18/comcast-signs-on-to-carry-sec-network/12831855/

The footprint is growing. In its biggest deal yet, ESPN has agreed to terms with Comcast Cable to carry the SEC Network. That means it will be available to 46 million households nationwide when the network launches Aug. 14.
At $1.40 per subscriber. It pays to be paired up with ESPN.

The Pac-12 Network(s), on the other hand, is asking for $.80 per sub, the same deal they struck with Comcast, DISH, Time Warner, AT&T and Cox (each of those got a "most favored nation" clause in their contract, so the P12 can't give DTV and lower sub price). And, DirecTV is calling it outrageous.

So what are the school cuts of this going to be? Guess that's hard to tell without all the various providers on board, no?

Outkickthecoverage guesstimated, assuming DirecTV is on board, each school will get $20m from TV revenue, on top of the $20m they already get now.

The bold $20 million from existing TV contracts?

Bowl money, advertising, kickbacks, etc.

Below is from the conference's 2011 tax filings. So, approximately 273m divided by 12 schools worked out to 22/23m per team.

TV and Other Production $163,319,999

Postseason Events $92,757,645

Sponsorship Royalties $7,137,245

Prior Year Events $4,308,926

Grants, Scholarships & Fellowships $4,245,946

Investment Income $1,293,765
