UCLA is projected to play the hardest schedule in the FBS by the end of the regular season, according to ESPN Stats & Information. And, in tim's fairy tale scenario, they'd then play Oregon.
Just sayin...
Memphis is 7-3 ... they're in the top half of FBS this season.

I currently have UCLA's SOS at No. 2, behind only Auburn, according to the Plus-Minus ratings.

KRACH mirrors what a lot of people believe should be the top 4-5 as of today (if not necessarily the "correct" order):

Good news for Oregon: Andre Y, the starting right tackle will be back this week and the All-American center Grasu may be back by the Pac-12 Championship. :)

They should rest Grasu for the Pac-12 championship to make sure he's right. They won't need him for that game as it will be a cake walk, but they'll need him for the playoffs.

So our national title-contending programs are happy with last minute home wins over the 55th best team in the nation, now?

How many of these teams would struggle with the University of Memphis at home in the same manner as UCLA?

• Florida St

• Alabama

• Baylor

• Mississippi St

• TCU

• Oregon

• Ole Miss

• Ohio State

• Auburn

Serious question. I'll hang up and listen.

Tennessee is also higher, but interesting view.

So our national title-contending programs are happy with last minute home wins over the 55th best team in the nation, now?

How many of these teams would struggle with the University of Memphis at home in the same manner as UCLA?

• Florida St

• Alabama

• Baylor

• Mississippi St

• TCU

• Oregon

• Ole Miss

• Ohio State

• Auburn

Serious question. I'll hang up and listen.

On any given week any and all of those teams can look downright ordinary.

KRACH mirrors what a lot of people believe should be the top 4-5 as of today (if not necessarily the "correct" order):

POS. TEAM W L KRACH LAST1 Florida St 10 0 10296.96 22 Alabama 9 1 8029.29 33 Mississippi St 9 1 6355.53 14 Oregon 9 1 5092.73 55 TCU 9 1 4794.94 66 Mississippi 8 2 3717.66 77 Baylor 8 1 3301.37 118 Ohio State 9 1 3227.00 14
That sure would be an interesting playoff. Oh well.

What manner is that? It wasn't a last minute "win" unless all wins are "last minute." UCLA scored their final TD with 11 minutes left in the game. Until Memphis took over on their own 42 and drove to UCLA's 44 with 20 seconds to play, Memphis didn't get into UCLA territory the remainder of the game.

And, the bolded did. Ole Miss was up by 4 against Memphis at home heading into the 4th Quarter. I'm not sure if it was the "same manner" of struggling, but a 7-3 lead going into the 4th seems worse than UCLA having a lead of 14 heading into the 4th.

ETA: I guess it's not #55, but Ohio St. was beaten soundly by the #42 team at home. That's not the same manner of struggling, though, since they actually lost.

Exactly. One. And even that isn't really THAT comparable unless you're doing some serious cherrypicking with the numbers.

For instance, your selecting "heading into the 4th" as the barometer... it seems UCLA was tied with Memphis just 4 minutes later. Meanwhile Ole Miss was up by 7 at the same point and pulled away rather convincingly from there en route to a 21pt win. (vs UCLA's 7pt houdini-esque escape out in Los Angeles).

Not to mention "almost a home game" environment down the road in Oxford vs the "hardly any memphis fans in attendance" out at the coliseum....

Or, you're doing cherry picking. I have no idea what you mean by "same manner" and if you don't think only scoring 7 points heading into the fourth quarter against a team, let alone only being up by 4 points against that team is struggling with them, then I don't know what to tell you.

Those poor Memphis fans at the Coliseum. They missed a good game.

It "seems UCLA was tied" because they actually were. And, then UCLA scored on their next possession and that was that. Houdini-esque escape? Memphis didn't score after Hundley's pick 6 with 14 minutes left in the fourth.

Almost a home game environment down in Oxford? What a joke. This is the SEC, icon. No Conference USA team is going to come into an SEC West team's house and make it almost a home game environment.

Well, I've no idea if they would. But all of them could struggle against Memphis on an off week.

Can a mod please make an entire "UCLA Football" forum like they did baseball.
It pains me to admit that they have a point if they run the table. Granted, it is a point that assumes that a lot of people lose to give them space. Fair or not, they aren't going to be picked even over a one-loss OSU.

I don't know how he got left off the list, but he's 11/2.
Pretty sure Mullen and Foley have some deep rooted hatred for each other. At this point we'd match whatever Florida offered. Don't see Mullen making this move.

2010 I would have said differently.
