I guess I haven't watched the correct Missouri games this year. I get a different impression of that team. They've had some decent wins, but a really crappy loss to Indiana that I keep forgetting about. That said, I doubt Tenn is in the top 50 of anything notable. Missouri is really a dog in that game?

Since UT made the switch to Dobbs at QB, they've beaten South Carolina and Kentucky. Nothing earth-shattering, but he looks like the real deal.

Certainly seems like it, but it seems to me that Missouri's just a bit better than those schools. They beat S Carolina and Kentucky too right?

Being @ UT is probably the deciding line factor. Both are coming are big wins actually.

Honor their commitment to the young man? Not really that complicated Or, if that's too difficult, be honest with him on where he stands with the program. That's probably too difficult as well. Guess they should just keep screwing kids over with no recourse.

You do realize that of every program only offered the number of scholarships they had, less kids would get scholarships right?

At some point before it's kind of a "point of no return" it's a #### move to ask a kid to grey shirt or outright pull a scholarship. Less than two weeks before the kid is set to graduate and enroll at your school is a pretty late hour to be telling him he's not to set foot on campus for another year. It's the same thing as if this happened in mid-January.

And, since the kid is an early enrollee, his enrollment is not going to make them exceed their limit. It's taking the kid after him in February that will cause that to happen.

I have no problems with telling a kid he's no longer in your plans, but you can't let it get this far and then flip your stance on him. This goes on at a bunch of schools, though, including UCLA. But, it usually happens right around now through New Year's Day. This is the time when a bunch of kids will suddenly open up their recruitments and usually just say that they wanted to look around. The truth is that a lot of them are being told that their school had guys higher on their board who have indicated that they are likely to choose them and there is no longer room at the inn, so to speak.

UCLA benefited from this two years ago when Southern Cal told Eldridge Massington they didn't have an early enrollee spot for him any longer, but that he could come in during the Fall. He was open about it, decommitted, and then committed to UCLA. He's now probably the second best WR on the team.

I don't know if my head would explode because I actually root for chaos at the end of the season which is almost a guarantee anyway. Unlikely at it is, I still like your scenario just for the mayhem.

I think a more likely scenario is that four or so teams in the top 6 lose over the next few weeks as is the norm and a team like Ole Miss slips into the playoffs and everyone continues to ##### about an SEC bias. We haven't even had the annual Oregon crap the bed week yet. I could see Baylor, Oregon, Mississippi State, and Ohio State all losing in the coming weeks and have a final four of something like Bama, FSU, TCU, Ole Miss.

Like I said, I hope for chaos and more #####ing by the anti-SEC honks.

No, it's dumb. So your theory is that if School A had 20 scholarships and offered them to 20 kids but 3 of those kids went to different schools on signing day School A would just sit on those 3 scholarships rather than offering them to other kids? You do realize that there are more kids than scholarships, right?

I think most people assumed it'd eventually get to this. With five power conferences and only 4 teams making it, at least one conference was always going to be left out.

The trick becomes how do you do this? My initial guess would be that they take the conference champs, highest ranking nonP5 team (if ranked above a conference champ) and two/three at-large teams.

The biggest complaint I have is expanding things really starts to open the door for questions about teams that possibly shouldn't have playoff complaints. Right now people talk about MSU, Baylor, TCU, and Ohio State on the bubble. In that scenario, you're talking more about Ole Miss, Georgia, and UCLA. I, personally, prefer the former. If you lose at all, you run the risk of not getting in.

I like it because it still preserves the regular season but keeps the conferences happy. If it expands to 8 teams as-is, the 8-9 debate most years would be between two and three loss teams. I just find it hard to justify their inclusion for the playoff.

Running with my scenario and current standings, you'd have:

1. Alabama - Bye

2. Oregon - Bye

3. Florida State - vs. 6. Mississippi State

4. Ohio State - vs. 5 Baylor

I presumed Baylor over TCU currently assuming both win out and Baylor wins the conference due to the head to head matchup.
