*Official 2016 Philadelphia Eagles* - The year of Change (1 Viewer)

At least we get the 4th place schedule next year?
Next year we play the same place finisher in the:  NFC North and NFC South.

So if we come last its likely the Panthers and the Bears.  Instead of VIkings and Saints.  I'll take it.

Some people are saying Peters jumped offsides on the 4th and 2 on purpose so they would have to go for a FG. Even if it's not true, I said it in the game thread that he saved us 3 points. No need to go for it there that early.

And take Dak in round 3.
Watching Dak last night made me feel like that's how he'd look with our offense.  WR's who cant get open or hang on to the ball and a OL that cant hold up will make every QB look bad

On purpose my ###.  He is on the downside of a great career and cant get out of his own way with these penalties.

RE: Ertz--It looked forced but I was happy to see him try to lower his head and fight for extra yards yesterday.
Whatever the reason he looked good with a fire lit under his ###. Hopefully he "gets it" because he's going to be here at least another 2 years.

Lol, yea I know. It was said mostly tongue in cheek.

And I know it's been beaten to death over the course of the season but I just love watching Wentz play.  He just makes so many plays or throws during a game that continue to amaze me for a rookie.

I look at this year as the welcome to the NFL most were expecting. He's shows flashes that something great is there but has made many mistakes. I need only look to Mariota and Winston though to see what can be in store for next year if we make the right moves this off season.

Some observations from being at the game:

  • Stadium was maybe 80% full (and looked like barely 50% at kick-off.) I'm sure it was a combo of the record and ice cold weather.
  • Even though the Linc wasn't full, the fans were behind the team most of the game and the place was as loud as I've heard it when full during the 4th quarter WSH drives.
  • In fact, from the moment everyone stood up when Sproles got taken out by that cheap shot, until Wentz fumbled, the entire crowd was on its feet. First time in three seasons of going to every game that I've ever seen the fans stay standing that long. It felt like we were waiting for this to be one of those memorable/special games that go into Eagles lore. "Down to one RB, a third-string long snapper and a fourth-string RT, the Eagles rallied in the name of their injured 5' 6" motor and saw Carson Wentz lead the team on his first 4th quarter comeback." Would have been at least one saving grace for this season, but alas.
  • And speaking of the crowd standing, I don't know if it was emotion or because there were a ton of not-usually-there fans that got tickets from someone who didn't want to go to the game, but twice the scoreboard had to flash the "Quiet: Offense at Work" message because the crowd was doing things like going crazy when Wentz was at the line after a good play, or because we were going for it on 4th down (I said it when it happened, but Peters' false start on the 4th down was almost certainly because of the crowd noise.)
Next home game will be interesting, especially if we lose and look bad against the Ravens. Thursday night in December with a Polar Vortex on the way will probably lead to A LOT more Giants fans than usual, and a potential stadium takeover of the Linc.

I hope not. Better draft picks in the 2nd round and beyond. We're not going anywhere this year anyway. May as well start looking to the future.
I kind of want to win some games. To me the difference between the 40th pick and the 50th doesn't interest me as much as getting something positive to build on for the off season. Otherwise it's going to be 7 months of fire Doug, fire Howie, fire Lurie out of a canon.

If they lose like they did this week I'd be ok.  They played hard and lost due to the obvious lack of talent and depth.  I think the building on wins from one year to the next is vastly overrated.  Although, I would like to see Wentz pull off just one last minute drive for a win.  Thought this week was finally going to be it.

See we as fans and the media seem to think that but former players believe it has an effect. Every player that's been on recently has been asked how important it is to ein down the stretch and they've all said it helps to build the team for the long haul.

So I'd rather win especially when the alternative gains us very little. If we were in line for a top 10 pick right now, I'd say lose out of course.

I think back to 2011 and that terrible 4 game win streak to end the season that did nothing but give them a worse pick and fool people into thinking they were better than they are.  I think it's more important they're playing better than if they win or lose at this point.  Either way, they should play to win.  I'll root for a win, and whatever happens, happens.  I just won't shed a tear if they lose and play well.

So if YOU are the HC and we lose this Sunday, do you sit Wentz the last couple games?
I don't bench him, he still needs the experience and growth you can only get with real action games. That said, don't run plays that is going to get him killed. Quick throws, max protect on anything long, zero bootlegs. You can be smart about it.

This.  He also isn't throwing 40+ times a game, regardless of score.  Also, losing Sunday wouldn't make a difference since the playoff odds are damn near impossible.

Ya I don't see any upside of sitting him.  Don't think I've ever seen a team out of playoff contention sit their qb just so he doesn't get hurt.  Even guys like Brees will be playing the last few weeks of the season, so Carson absolutely will be.  Unless they want to showcase Daniel for a trade or something.

Wow, haven't watched many Dolphins games this year at all but didn't realize Maxwell was doing well.  He's graded as the #10 cover corner in the NFL out of 120 in PFF's rankings through week 14.

Be nice to try to add Michael Floyd on the cheap assuming this was an isolated incident.

Brandon Brooks says he's been dealing with an anxiety disorder as well.  Hope all is OK with him.

So what gives with this? Maxwell, Shady, DJax, all leave/get ran out of Philly because of lack of production, only to go elsewhere and stud out.

Then you have guys who are studs elsewhere first - Murray, Kiko (I'm forgetting another)- then come to Philly and have their careers killed and escorted out as bums- but go back to another team and continue their stud play? Even Andy Reid was ran out of town (and I agree it was time), and goes on to become one on the winningest coaches in the last 3 years. Was this all 100% Chip Kelley? How do you not contribute a big part of those decisions on someone else?

Yes, Philly lol

Maxwell and Murray were ran out because of the money they were making at the time--Kelly's first year as GM and didn't seem to know that each player wouldn't fit his own schemes

McCoy and Desean didn't fit a culture...Kelly's culture

Kiko still stinks

Andy Reid hired an Offensive Line coach to be his defensive coordinator

The big ones as far as talent goes are all on Kelly.

So, what are the feelings for this week? I hate to do it but all's fair in love, war and fantasy playoffs--I might roll hard on several Ravens players this week including Flacco in my two most important leagues. Can see another brutal road meltdown for this D...

I know this is a partial fishing trip by a Cowboy fan, but I will try to give a reasonable response. Obviously, from an offensive speed standpoint, Cutting Desean, Letting Maclin go in free agency, and trading away Lesean, was a big mistake. Compounding the Jackson decision was cutting him allowed him to sign with a division rival which has burned the Eagles. Trading away Maxwell and Alonso was somewhat of a knee jerk reaction to undo what Chip had done, but it did allow the Eagles to move up far enough in the first round where they could eventually trade up to get Wentz. I think trading Demarco Murray away was a short term mistake in that he could have given the Eagles a solid running game while Wentz was developing. But again, I think Roseman was trying to undo everything that Chip had done.

So 90% on Chip, 10% on Roseman trying to clean up Chip's mess. I only say 10% for Roseman because part of what he was doing with undoing Chip's moves was to free us up from potential Salary Cap hell. We were willing to take less value back in exchange for getting rid of contracts.

I think all of us Eagles fans are scratching our heads at how Chip Kelly, who had great offensive success in his first year in the league, and then says to himself "Man, I could really be successful if I could get rid of Jackson, McCoy, and Maclin!" A total headscratcher.
