Skipping ahead as I don’t want spoilers for the England match.
I have a question for anyone using YouTube tv. I enjoy seeing the anthems segment before matches. My recording this morning started right at kickoff.
Is there a setting I need to change, or was this a fox thing?

I believe kickoffs are happening right on the hour. You should record the pregame show to see anthems I think (or set your recording to start ten minutes early)
Thanks. I’ll have to look into the pregame, or find a setting to start it early.

to reiterate the massive importance of game 1.

Teams that win game 1, advance 84% of the time
Teams that draw game 1, advance 55% of the time
Teams that lose game 1, advance 11% of the time

I believe due to the Iran result, the win and losses numbers for US Wales will be even more dramatic.

If either team loses today, they will be forced to get points off of England. Both will be medium satisfied with a draw because it will keep them alive going into game 3.

:Ppaniniupdate:

Sticker book is half full already, should be 75%full by tonight. Scored about fifty blue borders, and three reds. May attempt a blue book after the tourney when they are cheaper to get.

60 Minutes did a long piece yesterday on Panini soccer stickers

Thanks! Just paused the match to watch that segment. 😀

Hollands orange looks all blurry on my tv, I can't see the numbers when the camera in back. Anyone else see this?

Pretty much the same for me - I may need to move to the better TV in the basement.

My tv is brand new and a really high quality tv. I think the resolution may be off for the back camera. Up close is crystal clear.
Same for me, and I just paid to upgrade to the 4k version of YT TV.

Should also note this is always how champions league matches look to me on paramount+. But EPL games and the first 2 world cup games looked much better.

Southgate has made such a huge impact for the English, the U.S. should be taking notes when they look to replace Berhalter.(hopefully very soon)

Turner backs up England's backup goalkeeper. I think he'd probably back up Pope (England's third-choice keeper) as well. Now, I think Ramsdale is better than Pickford, but I think Turner would be hard-pressed to make the England roster.

I think it's really hard to evaluate Adams against someone like Calvin Phillips. Adams is excelling in a role kind of like what Phillips excelled at with Leeds himself. Phillips isn't playing because he moved to a truly elite club. But Adams had kind of stagnated for the last season or two at Leipzig. So while I think he might be "good enough" to deserve a DM spot on England, I don't think he's shown enough that he would have been picked. And that's kind of how I feel about Pulisic as well. I think Pulisic is probably at least as good as Rashford and possibly Sterling. And could very well be as good as even Saka. But for whatever reason, he hasn't really shown it consistently. So while Sterling's form has been kind of crap this season, he has a much longer and deeper resume (for club and country) that would make most coaches, I imagine, select him over Pulisic.

Musah has one half-season of club football as a CM. He was one of the worst wingers in La Liga. I think he's great, but no way that's enough of a resume to make a club like England unless he was absolutely dominating a Top 5 league at the moment. Gio likewise just doesn't have the resume. Of all the Yanks, he's the one I'm most sure is talented enough to play for England. He might literally be talented enough to make any roster in the tournament. That's how high his ceiling is. But he hasn't put together long, consistent runs of excellent play in top-level club competitions that way Bellingham (or Pedri) or even Mason Mount (who finished in the Top 10 of the B'allon D'or a year ago have.

The case for McKennie for England would be as a set-piece threat. He's a weapon. I don't think he as good or consistent as any of England's midfielders, but he does have a unique skill-set that some coaches might value. But Ward-Prowse is probably better on set piece deliveries than Weston is as a set-piece target. And Ward-Prowse didn't make it.

BUT THIS IS OFFICIAL

Steven Goff@SoccerInsider
USMNT lineup vs Wales: Turner; Dest, Zimmerman, Ream, Robinson; Adams, Musah, McKennie; Weah, Sargent, Pulisic.
Wes and Dest in the lineup!

Reyna and Aaronson on the bench. Which is kind of incredible.

Man, 8 minutes - they really are keeping accurate time. I love it.
what were these announcers (bbc feed for me) talking about 24 minutes of added time in the Eng. game? ?? WTHeck

Yep - 14 in the 1H and 10 in the 2H. Injury to Iran keeper in 1H but the 10 minutes in the 2H was a tad surprising. They don't seem to be messing around and honestly, it's about time.

Iranian GK got hurt in the first half and it took forever. They added 14 minutes in the first half.

Couple of injuries and a bunch of goals in the second, so they added 10 in the second.

They are keeping much more accurate stoppage time so far. Expect it to continue.

Wow, that's wild. If this is a positive that comes out of this WC, I'll take it. I can just imagine the grown in the EPL games when the board comes up with 11 minutes on it. :lmao:
