***Official 2022 World Cup Thread*** (3 Viewers)

I had to get my daughter from school. I put on the Sirius fox broadcast. I can't believe they don't have a radio feed. The announcer just stopped talking after the buildup and yelled Weeee. I had no idea what happened for like 45 seconds. That kinda sucked, but happy we are ahead.

Hard to change anything from that first half but GGG has a tough decision to make with Snacks and Dest. I’m completely torn on what he should do - thoughts?

Couldn't ask for a much better start than that. We are dominating and are up a goal. Need to keep it up and find a second early in the next half.

well that was as complete a half as we have seen maybe all cycle. I was shocked to see Wales cede so much possession. Obviously second half will be different as Wales has to come out of shell.

The US recovery of the second ball in the first half was so friggan good. I can't think of a single player who played poorly (which with our time in qualifying, we know how rare that is).

Based on recent play, I wasn't expecting anything like that at all. Even the style of play is different. Not predictable. Almost like they've just been ****ing around these last few months to make it look bad on purpose.

If we play like this for however many games we remain in this tournament, I'll be happy. Seriously been waiting for THIS for a long time. Fun to watch.

So much of the ball control has been those 2, it'd be hard to take them out.

Totally agree and I don’t want to sub them but a red early in the 2nd half would be devastating. We have Gio for Snacks - do we trust Scally?

Conveniently, Wes and Dest are both likely subs anyhow coming off injuries.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if both are subbed - with 5 subs, the injuries and the yellow cards I think I’m in favor of brining on Yedlin and Gio.

I think we may need Aaronson's ball hawking if Snacks has to be subbed. I think Gio goes in for either Weah or Pulisic based on game state.

Shots: US 3, Wales 2
xG: US 0.85, Wales 0.11
Touches in att. 3rd: US 102, Wales 19
Progressive carries: US 55, Wales 13
Possession: US 66%
At the bolded

I am absolutely shocked at how Wales approached this first half.

I want to hope it was the US that forced it but it almost feels like this was their intent to hope to do a smash a grab. I don't think any WC opponent ever has ceded possession to us.
