The Astro's issue at home is clearly that for the last 2 years they win every home playoff game I attend, and this year have lost each that I haven't. I will be emailing the team account and offer to let them provide me with tickets for when they return for game 6. 🤞

So I'm looking at Merrill Kelly, he looks like he has a pitch repertoire exactly like Nola's, similar speeds too. His road splits aren't very good. Nola is better at CBP than the road. I'm pretty confident that Nola is going 6 strong tonight, maybe 2 ERs. I don't think Kelly will last past the 5th.

Kelly seems very streaky. Might be the road/home splits but just at a quick glance he seemed equally up and down on a game by game basis. He doesn't seem like he's that good but there will be some games he is just unhittable and I am not sure why.

Yeah, it's tough to look at stats to try and figure things out. Nola was a complete mess this season due to the pitch clock. It sped him up and he was looking at a particular clock which messed up his mechanics. Then late in the season he switched which clock he looked at and it improved his mechanics and he started pitching like Nola of old. Really strange season.

LOL at the Travel Advisory for the game tonight.... WHY may you ask?

Well there is a Flyers game at 6. A stupid friendly between Mexico and Germany at the Linc at 8 and the Phils at 8......

WTF.... I now have to try to arrive at like 5 o'clock this will be a disaster

eta: all 3 stadiums are in the same area

Almost nailed this prediction, Nola was even better than I thought he would be. Kelly was too. Kelly breezed through the 4th and 5th but third time around the order, Schwarber already went deep on him and leading off, putting in a lefty reliever to start that 6th inning probably would have been smart (even though their lefty imploded later in the inning).

Bad news for Arizona is Ranger is up next. His career playoff numbers are crazy: 5 starts, 3-0 record, 23.1 IP, 3 ER, 1.16 ERA, 19Ks, .857 WHIP. I think with a 2-0 series lead, Topper will give him a long-leash and let him go 5 innings considering that game 4 could be a bullpen game for Philly.

PRO TIP: do not try to leave a stadium when the the stadium across the street let out a bunch of soccer fools almost the same time.........

Fun night..... exhausted sitting at work..... that 5:30 alarm was super early.... probably should have taken some sick time lol......

First playoff game my pop has been too since 93...... He had trouble standing most of the night but so did I. Feet hurt, knees hurt, back hurts, throat hurts so fun

I don't see me making it the entire day........ Go Phils!!!!

I hear you can get tickets to game 3 for like $25. Take some sick time and get some sun with your pop.

go crack a bathroom beer to ease the pain, "be a man, ruin your own day"....

Think the Astros win game 3 tonight. Scherzer hasn't pitched in some time and will probably be on a pitch count. I'll be surprised if he lasts 4 innings and his last playoff outing was abysmal.

Four innings would be enough. Texas has Dunning or Heaney to "co-start" with him if needed. Same with Gray in Game 4. As a Rangers fan, I'm conditioned to expect the worst, but the starting pitching I feel as good as possible about.

Until that starting pitching has to face Philly hitters. Yeesh - these guys collectively perform their best under the biggest spotlight. I haven’t seen much of Texas but would be completely happy for that fan base if they win it all.

Welp. I take this all back.

Pfaadt throws a 93 mph fastball about 56% of the time. 84 mph slider (sweeper) about 26% of the time. 87 mph change about 12% of the time. That fastball is just average and the change velo is just way to close to the fastball.

Ranger throws a 93 mph fastball about 49% of the time. 76 mph curve about 19% of the time. 83 mph change about 18% of the time. 88 mph cutter about 12% of the time.

This is do or die for Arizona today. I expect them to put pressure on the Phillies by running the bases more. Surprised they didn't try to run in games 1 & 2 when they had baserunners. Think the Phils win today, Suarez isn't an overpowering pitcher but for some reason, in the playoffs, he turns into Sandy Koufax. I expect him to give the Phils 5 really good innings and leave with the lead for the bullpen to try and hold.
